  1. Belli is the thriving evolving new face of second life, why not have something new instead of an old build? I am all in favour of recycling, but if this wasn't visited before there was a reason for that beyond the location. This is three sims worth of stuff on the servers that nobody will use past the first week of curiosity, and then that leaves an item of interest to sail around. Does nobody in the Linden team watch tv programs on how to declutter your house? Keep the small stuff as a reminder. @Abnor Mole said that if something isn't visited then the higher ups won't want to pay to keep it going, this was in relation to sailing water but seems universally relevant. So why on earth has this build been moved? Maybe someone upstairs was sentimental about the ship and wanted to give it another chance.
  2. My theory is that those orbs are a kind of sadistic game where people enjoy inconveniencing others who accidentally wander over their boundaries.
  3. I've been training myself to think of colours in groups / palettes so what seems like a simple question is actually quite hard to answer. My rl clothes are Grey, Black, Blue, White so the colour Gbbw Raspberry wears Tan, white blue and green, so Twbg for her. Our RL house is mostly beige, I blame indecision. In SL I really enjoy trying out different decor palettes in my houses, currently Ochre, Dark Moss, French navy and Pale Pink/Grey.. Odmfnppg.
  4. @Drake1 Nightfire The maitreya group note described the current BOM update as a temporary fix for people to experiment with (unless I've missed a more recent notice?) My definition of successful would be to enjoy the experience of owning a shop, and also cover the rent. (though someone doing it for consciously altruistic reasons would also count in a different way) I have a feeling that some owners are running at a loss so as to have the experience of being a shop owner / fashion designer, some because they want to cater to a niche market for reasons other than profit and others because they have an unrealistic idea of what is actually involved in maintaining a business. Frankly some seem to have simply forgotten they own a shop at all and just left the half *rsed, outdated, pink shiny coated horror-cube complete with broken sales boards solely for the viewing benefit of passers by.
  5. I will switch to BOM when Maitreya updates, and probably carry on doing what i was doing before with less impact. However, I will continue to seek out shops that have clothes I like in their original state, as I do in real life.
  6. I've been into shops where I have huge difficulty believing the merchant is selling anything at all. You are maybe expecting more logic than is generally used? Maybe it's the same kind of mindset that holds onto a piece of land that was bought over-priced, and then continues to pay tier for years afterwards rather than drop the price to sell it on. Just because a place exists, in SL it does not mean that it is necessarily successful.
  7. @Qie Niangao what about Veganism? That seems to be politicised right now! Ooh climate change. Changing the design of chocolate bars and reducing the amount of chocolate at the same time. No wait, maybe scratch that one
  8. Finding pieces that mix together has been a challenge for me too. In the end mixing mesh with an underlayer of 'applier' basics seemed to work. I'm wondering if part of the problem is in who is actually making the meshes that underlie the textured clothing? How much contact do they have with the end customer? Unless someone has the ability to create a whole piece of clothing themselves, and run a shop then there's got to be some communication problems along the way. Surely most retailers are texturing ready-made meshes?
  9. I don't have any sentimental connection to this build, this may be the first time I've seen it, and this time in the morning I can be a bit grumpy anyway, but this does feel hard to enjoy for the reasons you mention and more.
  10. Dahm Strait is the clone twin of my current home region, Coral Bay. I did have a previous plot on the same island which was way too close to Pyri peak for me, but the view from other plots is actually much better. See the shot below from Siren's Cove, (same snap as in the Joy of Steps thread). The mountain gives an interesting backdrop. I do find it weird to have identical islands still, but it is still lovely.
  11. If Sylvia's alt is contributing to a mainland piece of land which is group owned she could swap their contribution? (does that make sense, not sure myself now!)
  12. That doesn't sound like enough. If covenanted Bellisseria is a central plank of the SL business model moving forward a few extra bods available, at least during this expansion phase seems desirable.
  13. Aww is that Abnor's roadside monument? (Check for original creator @Abnor Mole?) someone hugeified it? If so you can find them all over the place on small parcels on mainland roads. Not sure what the history is, but I do know that Papa mole did not distribute them (just saw Beth's reply)
  14. OMG what is wrong with those people!!! Do they not know how ugly their builds look? It's only second life so it doesn't matter? Aaaaargh.
  15. See also many other issues not sl related!
  16. @Dakota Linden do the minutes of these meetings get posted up anywhere?
  17. I'm thinking there's a lot of people out there who don't really understand Belli, maybe we need some founding principles? ie what the rules are for as well.
  18. Just for fun! (you never know though, they might be running out of ideas ) I'm going for Throstle Nest, as for some reason that came to mind when visiting the new mountain regions, and I felt it was some sort of bird but obscure enough to be suitable (actually an old fashioned term for a song thrush when I looked it up) I was thinking of throstle's, or throstles' nest but I doubt an apostrophe would be allowed and of course Throstles without the ' would have been an abomination
  19. A lovely series of steps in SSPE351 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SSPE351/190/132/25 Crediting @Lulabell Mole for this installation, a mixture of rock steps and brick steps, I'm counting 46 in total. Yonder Mole added the mini rock cliffs. He, or she seems to be a mole pup, only four months old and not yet had time to make a forum login! Notta Mole, another youngster, planted the trees.
  20. @Pussycat Catnap what a gorgeous home neighbour! I am exiled to the official viewer at the moment so can't see distant shores, but it is reassuring to see your pics!
  21. Lay there? Where is the advantage of automation if you can't go down the shops and leave the bed to do the whole thing by itself?
  22. Some of those inland homes can be low lying though. Could be an inland flood plain!
  23. @Elora Lunasea it sounds like you could do with creating a spreadsheet That Humansville property does sound interesting.
