  1. Depends what you are doing on the metaverse. The desire (or not) to interact with others is situational with an individual, regardless of age demographic.
  2. There are two kinds of people in the world… Those who can extrapolate from missing information,
  3. The avatars are rather creepy but I'll always love their music. Caught me in my formative years and I still remember all the lyrics. Saw the Chess musical in London decades ago and it was awesome.🀩 They also like Hej Hej Monika. Played it every day for Swedish friends and they get so excited 😏
  4. Every day I walk downtown and throw a sweet potato at the same person while they're waiting for the bus. My spouse saw me do this and yelled, "why don't you leave that poor person alone!? Don't be a jerk!" I said, "I'm sorry honey...It's who I yam."
  5. What is the best time to book a dentist appointment? Tooth hurty
  6. Was he a youngster? As I get older I have trouble even seeing stuff on my phone 😁 Even without that little drawback, I can't see how a small screen would be that immersive an experience.
  7. I doubt there would be much left of the SL we know if he did buy it.
  8. My company had the vendor give us a demo of this recently: Psious | Virtual Reality Platform for Psychology and Mental Health The virtual scenarios were interesting, and the measurement tools for physical reaction were handy to have. I can see products like this being used more, if affordable.
  9. I've tried using autodraw on media on a prim. Works alright, I just hate using a mouse to draw. I'd like to write normally in a 3d virtual space, but I'm never going to use those goggles. I admit it, what I actually want is a holodeck.
  10. and we don't look like budget children's cartoons. FB workrooms looks horrid. πŸ˜’ I would like a good interactive 3d virtual whiteboard system though.
  11. How about the "popcorn subforum". Those who don't want to participate can sit back and watch the fun, then rate the thread on a scale of 1-10 for entertainment value once it's finally locked. πŸ˜‡
  12. Me too! Gord is one of my favourite singers. Also Burton:
  13. In that case the question is.. is it more fun to be bored n crazy in 3d..
  14. Did you hear about the little boy who refused to nap? He was charged with resisting a rest.
  15. Well ya for sure. That's a clear benefit to them but not a benefit to me. Why would average person want to be in the metaverse is what I wonder. Eh... I just want to know if the fabric feels comfy and doesn't need ironing. Neither of which the metaverse can help me with.
  16. I just came across that article too. Further on it says: "Here are a few things I know are true about the metaverse. You will have a secure personal identity, and you will move seamlessly from place to place, just as you move from web site to web site. It will be spatial, 3D, and any device with a browser, including the humble smartphone, will be able to access it." Now, I love virtual worlds. But the question that pops to mind when I read this is.. why? what advantage is there to me in the things I commonly access on the web being 3D? Or for this identity to be portable across the wide range of things I use? For example..We have specialised platforms for work things (eg I have used a 3D platform for counselling purposes, with a bunch of built in tools). There would be no point for my identity on such a platform to port over to buying a new set of curtains on Shopee, or to filing my taxes, or playing a game. I like things compartmentalised, for a number of reasons, security being a big one, privacy another. Also they have nothing to do with one another - the only common link I want there is real physical me, and as much as I choose/need to divulge. How to make the metaverse is an interesting question, but I'm struggling to think of why. πŸ€”
  17. That there are a lot of incredibly techincally skilled people, happy to share their knowledge with others for scripting, building, texturing etc. SL has been a mini school for me. Also, that Japanese players find it cute that non-Japanese name their avies after anime characters. πŸ˜…
  18. I did walk by. But now LL has made the decision, I must say I support it, and I think it will make for better business practices and customer experience all around, and am sure good designers will be able to adapt and still be profitable. I hope you find some other source for joy and happiness because it doesn't look like they will budge on this one.
  19. Personally, I'm glad to see gachas go. The novelty was fun at first but now it's almost like shops think it obligatory to hide nice things in a gacha. As many others have said, I'd happily pay full price for the item I want, but if I see it in a gacha I walk away. Designers, if rarity is a draw, why not do more limited edition items, and charge what you think is fair for the work put into it? If it's good, people will buy. If the draw was the addictiveness of the gacha system only, well, time to find a better business model.
  20. Back when I used to roleplay, some people would use RP moderators for just this purpose - to get round someone who muted them or just didn't like to RP with them. Imagine trying to force someone to roleplay with you.. they tried it! IMO, only people bent on harassing or controlling others would welcome such a system for personal disputes.
  21. cos this. It is a comfortable, peaceful, no-bad-hair-day world.
  22. It's ok, I don't mind being a drifter...😎 Oh, I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien I'm a freebie account in the forum... 🎡
