Something easy to forget- not everything needs materials/PBR, and for some stuff, regular materials will be plenty to look good. I think we'll continue to see a mix, just like currently we still see a mix of stuff with and without materials.

Endearingly annoying, she said. Seriously. Upgrading a computer really isn't difficult- it sounds way scarier than it is.

Why? Putting together a computer isn't particularly labor intensive. Nothing is very heavy or complex. In some cases it's as easy as putting something in a keyed slot so you can't mess it up and then tightening a single screw. And if you're upgrading instead of building from scratch, it's often even easier by magnitudes. For anyone with a desktop struggling with PBR: I looked it up yesterday, and I can get a good GTX 1050 card for less than 200 USD, brand new, without sales or discounts, shipped overnight tonight. If you're patient and willing to hunt for bargains, you could find it significantly lower priced than that. And I guarantee you if you came to these forums and said "I got this card, now what?" you'd get all the help in the world to install it. Let's face it. SL is an expensive hobby. Knowing how to do things like this is hugely instrumental in making it cost way less. There's almost no good reason not to.

My offer still stands to help get on the path of a very inexpensive PC that can be easily improved over time and easily kept up with technology. If you don't want it, then be quiet and live with your integrated graphics. It's not. It's technology moving forward. We either move with it or we get left behind. Again I say no other platform, game, or live service would even entertain the idea of holding back the 95% for the 5% and I ask why we entertain it here. Everyone arguing hard against this change hasn't been able to answer that other than "it's not a game", which as far as the technology is concerned, is false. I honestly applaud Henri for putting in the effort. But let's be honest- you're asking LL, a company known for half assing everything, to put in twice as much effort into this than they need to, for said 5% of the userbase. If we asked them to slow down and do this right, they'll throw up their hands and say it can't be done and then it won't get done at all. At least like this they're screwing up in a forward direction.

If I'm ignoring your point, you missed mine- You can't buy a PS2 and expect to play PS5 games on it. You can't buy a Pentium 3 and expect to play the latest Call of Duty or Forza or Sims game on it. You'd be laughed out of the room if you even suggested it. You're literally suggesting that we hold back 95% of the users for the 5%. No other platform would even remotely entertain that idea. Why do we do that with SL?

Buying a laptop instead of a desktop when you're already struggling to afford the hobby is just poor planning, no way to sugarcoat that. You could buy a cheap desktop, which will be an experience as miserable as the laptop is now, then set a little money aside each month and slowly upgrade it to where you want to be. No need to go all in on a whole new laptop or an expensive desktop.

If you'd like, I can help you find a dedicated GPU that'll solve the problem for half that. Maybe less.

I can't afford a sailboat, so I avoid yacht cruising as a hobby, even though I'd like to do it. I can't afford an ATV, so I avoid off roading as a hobby, even though I'd like to do it. I can afford new PC parts every few years though, so SL is a pretty good hobby for me. Pick the hobby you can afford. And I'll say it again - there's no reason to buy whole new computers every few years. A good one will last much longer. And even longer than that if you upgrade parts over time, which can be done very cheap.

The source of the problem isn't a great mystery, at least. For once, the fault isn't on LL. You wouldn't go to a racetrack and insist everyone has to drive 50 MPH because you brought a 1995 Toyota Corolla. You wouldn't buy a PlayStation 2 and expect to play PlayStation 5 games. Why should it be different for SL?

LL pride themselves on unfinished jobs and delays. They'll leave you wanting more!

"Rigged for" and "fits" are rarely the same thing. Especially with skinny places like Cold Ash. Their stuff makes me feel like I've got a big head.

One or two of those are nice, but I'd bet you anything most of it won't fit on me or with anything I wear.

We do not. The challenge I think would be to keep it active. Somebody that's willing to dress baggy, untucked, or skinny/skimpy would definitely do better than more traditionally dressed men, yeah. What gets me jealous of my lady friend is she refuses to buy stuff where she has to use alphas to hide her body, and still has endless options. I don't think I've ever seen anything made for men that didn't require it (at least on me).

Right, my statement was speaking comparatively. That said, even when you do hunt around, you get wildly different styles of clothing that will never be able to be worn together, if you even like them at all. Which is actually sort of on point... You're a woman saying there's plenty for men. Many men will tell you that a lot of those options don't count.

It's the old chicken vs egg thing with men's stuff in general in SL. There's nothing for men, so men don't shop. Men don't shop, so creators don't bother.
