What if I'm just "browsing" and I'm not sure that I want to join a group? I may not even have a group slot to spare. Some of my groups I may have already paid to get into. To have to leave one just to go check a venue out??? To have to pay for such a "privilege" when I have no idea whether I'll like the place or not??? What if I decide, after five minutes, the the lag is unbearable, the music sucks, the people there are idiotic gesturbators and particle whores, and I want nothing to do with the place? Do I get a refund? Due to the venue being constantly griefed, if I'm not mistaken Junkyard Blues now requires being in its group to go there. I'm not sure if there is a charge for the group or not.

  3. When I first heard of SL, it was from CSI:NY about a serial killer that found her victims through SL. It fascinated me but why I have no idea. LOL. I had never been one to engage in any type of video games and this was really how I perceived it to be, a "game", but it intrigued me and I wonder if it was real, so I went online to the CSI website and looked it up, to my surprise it really did exist. I downloaded the viewer through their website and it took me to their SIM, where I solved some murders, while waddling around in my noobie form, got hit on by another noob and then got bored. I decided it was time to check out other areas of SL and ended up at orientation island. This was in 2008. I managed to make my way through the entire island and then was magically transported to another place, to this day I cannot remember what it was, but there were lots of ad boards for real life companies and then someone, I am assuming it was a helper gave me an AO so I didn't waddle anymore and a bunch of LM's where I could find freebie clothes and hair. I was in heaven, because I love to shop! I don't think I have any expectations when I came into SL, I just remember how intrigued I was and the minute I landed there, I was hooked. Five years later, I'm still there and still enjoying everything it has to offer, lag and all. *smiles* I did eventually get a job when I found out about lindens and the awesome hair and clothes you get get and as far as sex? I never even knew it existed in SL until I had been there for at least six months. LOL. I seem to have led a very sheltered SL.
  4. Do you like the blues? Do they move you deep down inside? Then the Bookmite Warehouse is the place to be this Sunday at 4 SLT. We have the incredible DJ Gabi for 2 hours playing some of the best blues this side of the Bayou! Grab your friends, loved ones and meet me there! Also for your entertainment, we have a zen garden below where you can meditate, engage in tai chi or just sit and chat with friends or that special someone. I hope to see you there. I'll be waiting just for YOU! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Solara/165/220/21

  6. Check out CatWa. I have one very, VERY similiar to that. I'll see if I can find the link in MP for it and edit this. Here is the link: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/CaTwA-Maryam-V2Black-White/2794083

  8. Donna Wyx wrote: "Seriously??? You DO realize that NO ONE can rape anyone in SL without YOUR consent, right????" What if they have a cannon that fires a giant **bleep** and it locks onto your AV and goes up the **bleep** or anus quickly? Very little can be done to stop that. You are aware that you have not been physically impaled by whatever is launched out of a cannon, right? It's pixels, nothing more. It didn't really happen to you in real life. Please just click the little x in the right hand corner, if you think SL is ANYTHING like RL.
  9. Staralien wrote: Here's a can of worms I just opened: If your avatar is raped, (if such a thing were possible to do against your will) can you prosecute the person in real life? Should you be able to? Rape is a violent act, and in this case it would be basically raping someone's mind. Mind rape. Seriously??? You DO realize that NO ONE can rape anyone in SL without YOUR consent, right???? Nothing is real in SL and there is always that little red x in the upper right hand corner....*geeze* goes back dealing with RL" edited to add something.

A there it is: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/quot-I-m-just-too-pretty-for-my-own-good-quot/td-p/2003949 Am I doing something wrong? Having two female avatars for nearly 3 years and never experianced what you described...at least not as it was pure hell and anytime I logged in. I have been on SL for a little over five years and I have NEVER been hit on like the OP said she did, I either wasn't in the right Sims or didn't dress the part. I am always amazed when someone says they are constantly hit on. I also wonder what I was doing wrong.

The unfortunate OP was some kind of escort and hadn't upgraded her skin in roughly 5 years. So she posted dozens of pics of herself wearing various kinds of demo skins. Unfortunately, since she refused to alter her enormous jaggedy boobs or bizarre facial shape (think 'joker' mouth), the general concensus was that NO SKIN could ever make her look half decent and that, in fact, her demo pics were a laughable INSULT to the creators of the skins themselves. Now THAT was an entertaining thread. :smileyhappy: I remember that thread, and you are right, her boobs were TOO huge and her mouth looked exactly like the joker! It was a great thread and one I enjoyed tremendously!

Some people have problems with some cards, and some people don't. The only way to know what will or will not work is trial and error. It sucks, but that's what we've got to work with and it's been this way for a very long time. I'd criticize the lab for not knowing which will and will not work, but I honestly can't do that. Because billing has always been helpful to me. I've had troubles with certain cards before that even billing believes should work, but for whatever reason it does not. So, it's not necessarily their fault all the time either. I have one greendot card that used to work, then stopped working. I got another one, like an idiot without thinking about it, and then tried using it one day. That card worked. Both cards were from the same place. Both cards had plenty of funds on them. Neither card anywhere near expiration. There was just no rhyme or reason. The billing department couldn't even figure out why. Neither could the issuing company. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I have had a green dot card for 5 years and haven't never had a problem with it. *knocks on wood*

They can be set per game. That will save you running in Performance mode all the time. I'm not having problems running SL with my new computer, but I also have windows 8 and Radeon card, was wondering how you set the card up per game. Thanks, Nalates.

  17. Ok, just got a new computer, and the color on the forums is killing my eyes. I know there was a post about how we could change the color but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called, does anyone know? thanks in advance. :-)
  18. @Lindal, I have one viewer installed and for the life of me I also cannot tp from the webpage, either.
  19. Ariel Vuissent wrote: *sigh* Do the work yourself. I say that with love, because "best" is probably among the most subjective words ever. I can give suggestions as to MY favorites, but you might try them on and think "EW! What was she thinking?!" Male or female? Long or short? Mesh or prim? Up or down? Curly or straight? These are all important questions, really. I like TRUTH hair, as they have styles for everyone and they're very well-made. Analog Dog, I think, has good curly hair, if I recall correctly. Damselfly has some great hair; I find them a bit "big," but I prefer sleeker styles on myself. Exile, Lelutka, Lamb, and Ploom are all very nice. I have recently fallen in love with Lelutka's mesh Fairy Tale styles, personally. Wasabi Pills is another personal favorite. Hair is transitioning largely to mesh. Which isn't to say you can't find prim hair still, but a lot of the newer styles are in mesh. I like; others feel that it looks like a lump of clay on the avatar's head. It's all personal preference, really. ^^this^^ I agree Ariel. Cannot stand the way mesh hair looks, although I did find ONE hair from CatWa that didn't look like a lump of clay. As far as the others mesh hairs I've seen, they just don't look right.

  21. iI think he might be talking about an SLURL, I know if you pull something up that has an SLURL you have to click on it in order to be taken directly to the site that is advertised. Perhaps that is what he's talking about?
