  1. I have more issues than just trusting other residents not to take my rental money and poof. I want my rules to be clear, not subject to change at the whim of someone else. I don't actually want to deal with people unless it is on my terms. LL makes a fine landlord. They leave me alone. I am not very good at remembering to pay rent and I would never want to prepay. The Lab just takes my "rent" automatically each month, so I don't have to remember anything or have all my stuff returned while I am unceremoniously ejected from someone else's land. I have mainland so I can have the freedom to create my own theme. If I want the challenge of staying in theme, I have my Belli home for that and the house doesn't count against my prim allotment. There is nothing for me to gain by working with another resident. Only something to lose. I, also, find the chaos of mainland endearing for the most part.
  2. Looks like once again, a discussion about anything related to land is only about security orbs. In this instance, I believe Zalificent should be able to protect the area she rents from LL in any way she wants even if I think they way she says it is pointlessly verbally abusive and should be AR'd by the person it is directed against. Back to the land crash - I have owned mainland over the years and I own some now. I, also, have a couple Belli homes that I love and I love the Belli community and all the fun events. Looking at the ridiculous prices I have seen for some mainland in SL, there must be a shortage of choices to be that high. However, what I see is huge swathes of land that appear empty. What I have never done and will never do is rent from another SL resident. Ever. I would rather follow all the rules that LL sees fit to impose on people, than I would like to be at the whims of another resident. I will NEVER rent from another resident or "purchase" land on a private estate from anyone. Heck no! That way lies madness. Their land, their rules? Nope. I am really glad we have all these options for land ownership, so that anyone who wants some, can have something that fits their needs.
  3. Who's moral code do you suggest we use to tell others what they are allowed to do? I suggest MY moral code be used. Whatever two consenting adults want to do, they can. Underage stuff is already banned.
  4. His SL house is built for avatars that are 10ft tall. If I stood on the ground facing the mirror I would be staring at the sink and not see anything in the mirror. As it is, you can see even Sandor is floating quite a bit off the ground using the animation in the sink. Creators should make 2/3 scale models of all their builds for realistically sized avs. If you insist, I will remove my shoes before climbing on your counters.
  5. After the podcast, I went and played with Sandor's mirror. (Not a euphemism *narrows eyes at the reading audience*) He was more patient than I was and weathered my endless questions and what-ifs like a champ. Why is my reflection off center and looking to the side? something about curved lenses... What if you put 2 reflection probes in this one mirror? Would it be a less distorted view at each sink? Don't know. Why does it take 10 to 15 seconds for my reflection to update in the mirror? my slow computer... Are you seeing yourself move in the mirror? yes He made the box in front of the mirror semi-transparent to help me visualize what he set up. Yes, I am standing on the counter. So? I assume I am one of the non-techie SL users who will have to take some extra time to grasp this.
  6. After my frustration at just reading about PBR and ending up just playing with the animations in my head HUD, I invited Sandor to go to a podcast that I usually miss (pet delight) because I am working. Snow days happen and I took advantage. The topic was Are We Done with Good and Evil - Can humans ever be inherently good or evil? It was an interesting topic. The discussion was good at times and silly at other times as usually happens with any discussion.
  7. I'm all excited to have some dedicated time to read up on PBR! My face about a half hour later. I know exactly where you can stick that light probe thingy. If I want to see myself that badly, I'll rotate the dang camera around. I don't want to see greasy objects anyway. *stomps off in a huff to get some tea*
  8. I don't know about Belli 2.0, but I would be willing to own more mainland if the only rule was "no floating builds under 1000m, and public air travel between 300m and 999m" that allows for people who want towers and skyscrapers. Anything rezzed between 300m and 999m could be returned by anyone because it is a public travel area. (I am sure this can be abused too) I know some will still put up a low skybox and tether it to the ground with a pipe saying "but it's not floating!" Being able to build what you want on the ground without having to stay in a theme should be maintained. Being allowed to secure your land in any way you want should be maintained.
  9. Land sales and rentals are a few subjects down in this subforum. This section is for discussion.
  10. We have "Rage Rooms" you can rent near me where you can do just that. They supply dishes and old electronics. You are then suited up in PPE and handed a bat. It DOES feel good.
  11. Yeah, I have seen the slow decline of emotional inhibition and the inability or want to direct emotions into something besides destruction. Society goes straight to abuse and violence like they're virtues. I think we've all seen it in this and other forums. People are entitled to feel anything they want. It's only an issue when anger and abuse are unleashed in the forums and directed at others.
  12. I have no issue letting it all out. I use exercise. Directing it at others is destructive. I have never tried to scream it out, though.
  13. What laws of physics are broken if you face 2 PBR mirrors towards each other and their probes intermingle?
  14. Unleashing every negative thought that crosses our mind on the people around us is not a good thing. Adults know when and where to vent because we're not toddlers anymore. Wait. Most adults know when and where to vent because they're not toddlers anymore. A few SL forumites are publicly, destructively toxic, but no worse than anywhere else with moderation. I think they would get bored if people just ignored them or blocked them if they have no self control.
  15. Because I am a curious sort, do physics show through or are the shorts just rigged and static like long mesh dresses? Have you taken your m'alt out dancing, yet?
  16. We may disagree on what art is, but I still enjoy your photos of life in SL. I took a little time with my Hippiestock photos too, but using my own definition, they're not art. There was no intent or thought, no deep meaning. They were just candid pics of people I know at a fun event that I wanted to share. I cropped, I adjusted lighting, and even added a filter, but they are not art by my personal definition. The pics are simply "How does your SL look like today?" More informative than creative.
  17. My views of what I consider art have evolved over time. For years I didn't consider photography art. It was capturing something, not creating something. I now consider whether I think someone put thought into something. Is there is intent behind a creation or capture? Is there something someone is trying to get across to me? A message? A statement? An emotion? Is there effort put into the creation beyond clicking a button? Using my new view of "art", I can confidently state that I believe your digital photographs taken in SL are, in fact, art. You check nearly every box. So, there. Now I want to get inworld myself and put some thought into what I want to portray in a photo and how I want to do it. Maybe I'll start with simple "emotions" Today, my SL will look like digital photography.
  18. This was posted 14 hours ago. Ate you getting the same error message?
  19. M, she wouldn't tell me, just kept asking for an offer after saying best offer gets it. I don't remember the size. Everything else in the region was 15-20/m. It's only been owned since October 2023. It is a really neat spot. I also didn't get an answer to whether it could be terraformed.
  20. My power came back on! I wasn't expecting it to until tomorrow, so I had time to edit the photos from my short time at Hippiestock. I had to do my usual creative cropping to make sure there was no nudity, but I saw some forumites there! Hippie and Owl Doc and BJoyful Scylla Sandor The pyramid! Maddy is so hard to get a pic of with her invisible avatar, but she's on the lower left And then my power went out and I missed the rest. I look forward to this every year.
  21. Peeve: it's -17C/1F and the power is out. I am missing Hippiestock AND all the weekend sales. Internet through my phone is spotty at best. (This is a first world peeve, but I'm still peeved)
  22. I have a Flickr account I rarely use, but mostly I post the occasional pic here in the forums or directly to my SL feed. Every so often, I put something on Mastodon or Bluesky.
  23. I find people that are comfortable to be around endearing. Those up for a chat or dance or hour exploring a pretty region. They don't bring the drama or feel the need to fill every second with chatter and they don't expect you to provide all the entertainment. They are just easy to be around without thinking anything is expected of you. Another endearing quality is playfulness and silliness. It's harder to find these kind of people than it used to be, but they are out there. I tend to avoid people that are serious all the time and only want to have deep, emotional conversations. Not that I can't enjoy a deep, emotional conversation, but balance it out with some fun, too.
  24. Yes, I was trying ALL the things and it was the freaking SL sun. Gawd!
  25. A barrage of IM's arriving the second I log in. Give a person few minutes to check the mail, set their keys down, and take off their coat before demanding their attention.
