  1. I put this in Destinations, but here are a couple of shots on Fatima's. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//123/184/23
  2. Antique Artistry. Part of the Fatima's Isles. Just wander around the dozen or so sims and almost anywhere is yet another breath taking view. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife//123/184/23
  3. If you want quite and romantic, stay away from the heavily populated jazz clubs. You could use the Destination Guide in world but again, you are risking a heavily populated lag fest. Try "Fatimas Desire" or any of the sims that make up Fatimas Isles. This is a Victorian build, mostly residential but has parks and small places to sit and dance, talk and cuddle all throughout the place. It is truly a wonderful build. You could also try looking for something a bit more active. Surfing is a fun one and it is also an excuse to get her in a bikini You could buy her a new swimsuit and a surf board if you are in a giving mood, but don't buy one of those cheap and sleazy minimalistic swimsuits. Another cool date would be to go to Tombstone or maybe some other role play sim. This will of course mean spending a few bucks on clothes but it will be a memorable occasion. And last ... I don't know if it is still around but Bedrock was a fun build, too. Not your typical kind of date place :smileytongue: Of all these, if you wanted a romantic place, I would go to Fatimas. If you want a night at a jazz club, there are many. You may consider find a singer you like and catching one of their shows but again, you run into the lag factor.
  4. Venus Petrov wrote: I think Immy on page 1 had a good strategy. Way off topic but ... how many posts per page do you have? At the time of writing this, I only see one page total .... Back on topic: I take the same stance as you would in RL; never ask a woman if she is pregnant unless you actually see the baby moving. And never ask someone if they need help with their appearance unless they duck walk with a box on their hand. I will usually introduce myself and welcome people that are very new but beyond giving a generic offer to help or answer any questions, I do not do anything to try and fix someone else. I may mention to someone I see their bits and ask if they knew they were visable but that has happened maybe twice in 4+ years.
  5. 3. How long are you using Second Life? HAHAHAH!!!
  6. Mmmm, π Are you a π thrower? (Alt-227 ... in case anyone is wondering)
  7. Maureen Boccaccio wrote: Happy Monday. Are you allowed to use those two words together like that? :smileytongue:
  8. Aabz Adamski wrote: Nobody should must to give up anything. The other forums are not to have spam problem. Only Linden Lab. And it is not to matter what softewares they are using either. Other forums are not as open as these are, either. You do not need to have a paid subscription to post on these forums. Blizzard will not let just anyone make a free account with no payment options and start posting on their forums. They also limit the number of posts someone make and how frequently they can post even after paying for a subscription Even so, they do have their fair share of spam. It is just fewer posts and less cost effective for the spamer. This is a typical setup for any board with a large number of users. Smaller forums get away with having a few moderators that verify each new member and can get away with banning an IP range.
  9. Marianne Little wrote: Meh. Looking back at the older pictures, I wonder if I really had so long legs in 2009? They are probably too long, and the camera angle makes them look unbelievably long. But the swimsuit from Zaara is absolutely a keeper, stylish and really good textures. The sandals make my feet a bit like Goofy's feet, but I like them. And the hat, ooh la la. I was going to take a picture of my favorite swimsuit but someone beat me to it! /me shakes fist. I have this one and it is still my favorite. I do have a few bikini's but I have always like the one piece suits better.
  10. You will need to manually delete the cache files. And while we are doing that, it is usually a good idea to have each viewer use a different place to store cache files.
  11. Password strength is all well and good but it is over rated. Passwords are just door locks. The main thing is to have a lock and use it. If someone is targeting you specifically no matter how "strong" your password is, is can be cracked. The whole point is to make it not worth the hacker's time. Given a list of account names, a hacker can be certain of at least partial success by attempting to log on to each account sequentially using the most common passwords. Don't use those passwords because they are like leaving your door unlocked. "Password" is a bad password. Likewise "123456" or any other form of running numbers. You know hackers have a list of account names. We can see those names right here where you post! Any simple search will net a legion of account names to try. You KNOW that hackers have your account name; don't give them the other half of your login for free. You can use your mother's maiden name or a computer generated random string of 16 alpha-numeric characters and get the same results. And finally, just like you don't hand out keys to your door to just anyone you meet, do not give your password to other people INCLUDING ANY INTERNET FORUM!! Even if you trust the people running the forum, that site could be hacked by someone else entirely. It is always wise to keep a healthy level of paranoia when doing anything on the internet.

  13. I am tall in RL. I still have 5' 10" on my license but I think I am an inch shorter now -- age does that. I wanted to make my shape about that size, but when making the shape, it was 6' 1" when I was done and felt it looked good, so that is where I keep it now. Xena Barzane wrote: Wondering what the community at large thinks, about avatar heights. My avatar is 7ft tall, and the more I explore around the more I am noticing Avatars of child like heights around the grid. I can not say what the community at large thinks, but for myself I don't worry about other people's height. It is just another source of drama if you let it bother you. You say child like sizes, they say will call you a glamazon and the name calling and finger pointing goes on and on. The only way to win is not to play. Think of it like a bad date and just let it go. I have a very close friend that is 5' 2". I have another friend I adore that is well over 7 foot without heels. I just live my own SLife and don't worry about anyone else. Well, except my partner, Clover ... I make her stay shorter than me :smileywink:
  14. Wow. These are some beautiful places. I thought I had a few nice houses and rooms but now I feel like I live in a cardboard box :smileyindifferent: Acutally, I once had a few crates on a beach I used as my home not all that long ago.
  15. I have in my closet some killer Victorian style ankle boots because of SL! I never thought of them as my style because as an old country girl when I wore boots they were the typical roper style cowgirl boots. After seeing so many very nice ankle boots in SL, I had to get some for my meat space avatar. :smileyvery-happy: [ETA] They are in my closet if my daughter has not stole them from me again
  16. Welcome, Aerrin! If it will put your mind at ease, the voce for Torley is not staged or an act or anything like that. He really is that cheerful, and it is infectious Videos and written guides can be helpful but the best way is really to get some live assistance in world from other residents. New Citizen's Institute is a great place to start (Search for NCI and you will find them). Another place I know of is caled The Shealter bui I have not been there personally.
  17. Hi, Charolette, If you open up Search and go the events tab, there is a drop down list for categories like live music, contests and such. Discussion is one of categories you can pick. Charolotte Caxton wrote: Oo. That sounds interesting. What's a discussion event? CrystalShard Foo wrote: Personally, I meet new people by going to discussion events. That way you can be sure to find people who will actually communicate instead of spamming gestures.
  18. Hello, and welcome. I am sort of reminded about the song "Rocky Raccoon" for some odd reason.:smileyvery-happy:
  19. Good morning, everyone! Have you ever had to go to a different office for the day? I am doing the same thing with the seem responsibilities as I do at my normal office but it just seems ... odd. I don't feel as productive. Everything seems to take longer to do. It is pretty rare that I have to work out of this campus (and in theory this is my "main" office location) but this is one of those days. Oh well
  20. I change clothes constantly :smileytongue: I have 3 versions of my shape -- normal, small butt, no butt -- that I use for different clothing styles, but I mostly wear the small butt version now and only change to no butt for system skirts. Otherwise my shape does not change because I would have to refit all my clothes! My skin is LAQ Tasha 2 (sometimes Phoebe) in Nougat. I don't change skins other than makeups or for a special party. I do go through a skin upgrade abut once a year but it is an excruciating long ordeal for me to decide to go with a different skin.
  21. In case you have not noticed the Google logo for today, this is The 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day
  22. ((Wow ... you can submit a completely blank post ... funny that)) So back on topic. Rhonda is a mix of who I was, who I am and who I want to be. She is more me than I am. I cook in RL. It is something I enjoy and it keeps me from having to do the dishes But in SL I have never owned a kitchen or done any form of food RP. I don't think my RL hobbies and pursuits transfer over very well. There are some exceptions but those are abilities that enhance the RL activities and not replace them. And then there are some of the RL concerns that we follow in SL which are more a part of a daily ritual than anything. We have a bed in our apartment and I love to end the day in PJ's and snuggling down for the night. This is a small ritual showing affection much like a kiss before leaving for work in the morning or simply making a point to say "I love you" every day. So bed time is an example of a RL activity that has followed us over.
