  6. The problem with the old SLA is that it had to compete with the high-volume places like GD where answers were given in seconds and discussions would happen regarding not only the exact answer but other solutions as well. I don't know what the new SLA is like, but I would not even think about going there for answers based on past experiences. I don't intend to sound like I am against going there; it is more the case that it would not cross my mind. My normal way of finding answers it to first ask in world over group chat (either the specific organization's group or TFC if it is a general question) folowed by asking in Resident Answers umm, I mean General Discussion grrr, one of these SL fourms. :smileyhappy:
  7. Govindira Galatea wrote: btw, where is the "quote" button that's promised in the Forum FAQ? It's nowhere on my forum pages. Is it something that Google Chrome doesn't like? OMG!! That is so cute! Is that taken with Kerstin's? But to answer the question, click "Reply" and the bottom of the post you want quoted. You will then find the Quote button at the top right of where you edit your message.
  8. Not sure where to put this .... but it sort of fits here. One of my long time heroines and role model, Jane Russell, died Monday at the age of 89. As you can see, she had a stong influence in how I built my SecondSelf. (and no,it is not all about the bewbs!)

  11. Welcome to SL, Monecka. The place can be daunting at first but I hope you stay and get familiar with the place. If you have not heard about hunts, you should try a few. Basically a hunt is a sort of game where you go to various stores and look for a hidden object. The hidden object has a prize inside plus a LM to the next store. One hunt I am currently doing is the Steam Hunt with a Victorian and Steampunk theme. There are just short of 200 stores in the hunt. Going through one of these hunts will give you a lot of clothes, furniture, textures and various other bits of goodies. If want to learn about more hunts along with how, where and when, try http://slhunts.wordpress.com/ Another place to go for some good quality free starter clothes is a store call Sn@tch. (The forum software will try and interpret that as an email address, but it is not). Anyway, just search inworld for the including the @ and you will hit Ivey's store right away. She has a complete avatar for new residents including a new skin, shape, clothes , the whole thing. There are also various free items in her lucky chairs. (If your name starts with the same letter shown on the chair you sit in the chair to win the prize). Her prizes rotate often and there are usually several people there to help keep the chairs in use. And lastly ... there is the fishing outfit. While you do have to buy a starting fishing pole to play the fishing game, the final prize is always worth it. Ivey changes the fishing prize every other week and the other games (lucky chairs and fortune tellers) weekly. I know it sounds like I am trying to sell the place to you (and I sort of am) but it is a fantastic place for new residents. She just won an award for her work with the new residents and the quality of her freebie items. Monecka, if you want to try the fishing game, send me an IM in world and I will buy you a pole to get started. There are many other places that use the fishing system as well so it is not just a Sn@tch thing.

  13. WOOHOO!! This is just what I needed to see. I am having a lousy day at work. We are having a facilities audit sometime over spring break ... and guess who has already volunteered to cover the offices so the others could take off for vacation:(
  14. Argus Collingwood wrote: I honestly think that a polite im is the best way to ask about the items someone is wearing. Maybe ask them for a style card. There is no way of inspecting these tems as worn on another avatar that I know of. It always feels good to get a compliment so I usually ask them where they found it. Even for things I can easily look up myself and even sometimes after I already have. It is a little compliment to their sense of style.
  15. I see we have an Ignore option but it does not seem to work correctly
  16. This is a server side bug, not a client side problem. It does not matter which viewer you use. The way to avoid the problem is to take things off one at a time instead of using the "remove all" option. You can try rebaking but that only works some of the time. The sure way to fix it is to go someplace quite and take off everything one piece at a time. Relog and wait to see if anything else shows up. Take that off one piece at a time as before if you still have something there and relog again. If you come in bare, then you are good to go. Get dressed as usual and you should not have any problems.
  17. Hi, Storm. I really have no idea either. Maybe over in the "Friends" area?
