  1. I am about to make that little Camera HUD built in your viewer completely obsolete, for people with two functioning hands at least. The steps I will describe below will make your control of the camera much quicker and give more freedom of movement too; Step 1: You can move the camera view using the PC keyboard's left Alt key while holding the Left Mouse Button down together while moving the mouse (with the right hand) in various single or multiple directions. This easy combination of Alt and Left Mouse Button moves the camera both in and out while moving the mouse either forwards or backwards. Swinging the camera view around clockwise and anti-clockwise is just as easy, use Alt and Left Mouse Button while moving the mouse either left or right. This can be done at any speed necessary, depending on the speed of your left, right, up and down mouse movements. THEN after mastering that, another keyboard key can then be used in conjunction to change the camera's tilt.... Step 2: Let me introduce you to the Ctrl key. You'll notice that Ctrl and Alt keys are very close to each other on a PC keyboard. Both can be used simultaneously with two fingers of your left hand, while your right hand is over your mouse. The Ctrl key controls the Tilt of the camera when Ctrl, Alt and Left Mouse Button are used together. Conveniently, Ctrl, Alt and Mouse have the initials "C.A.M." (!) Moving the Mouse forwards or backwards, while "CAM-ming" (!), you will tilt the camera upwards or downwards. Releasing Ctrl will stop tilting, and reverts to basic in/out and swinging the camera around, as described in Step 1. Step 3 (optional): Between your mouse's left and right buttons is (usually) a Scroll Wheel. When rolled forwards or backwards this Scroll Wheel, rolled on its own, will cause the camera view to zoom in or zoom out. Rolling the Scroll Wheel all the way backwards will take you into Mouse Look, a first-person perspective view that you can steer freely with your mouse. See? It's easy! And so fast and fluid too! Now close that horrible little camera HUD and please never use it again!
  2. I'm very different. I've edited all Firestorm's settings to the point where my user interface looks (and behaves) 99.9% like the classic v1.23 Linden Lab viewer of the late 2000's, the same time when I joined SL. I find the current LL viewer to be completely unusable due to its clunky and bizarre redistribution of familiar buttons, tabs, windows and features which I had become very used to in their classic viewer. I was mortified when a newer style viewer was forced on us all and was something vastly inferior and difficult to adapt to, causing many people to switch to Firestorm, which had the ability to look like the original LL viewer. This editing to my retro-looking Firestorm viewer goes as far as having the exact same text colours, fonts and font sizes, the arrangement of feature buttons on the bottom main toolbar, the positioning of horizontal IM tabs, friends lists, the avatars Pie Window, and disabling all Display Names (I prefer to see real account names, not their aliases) and even having the same old-school orangey floating text over my avatars head. And much much more... Editing all these many settings manually again after a clean reinstall would take me an age, so I'm glad that Setting Backup exists and does it all with one Restore click. I also use Singularity viewer, which is a continuation of the classic LL viewer, which is maintained by a team of non-LL individuals who have added most, if not all, of the modern viewer's features that the classic LL viewer lacked, due to it's age. Singularity viewer still looks like the classic LL viewer interface, because it is the same viewer! If you've never seen or used the classic LL viewer before, I would recommend trying Singularity to see and prove how much better it is, particually with building and editing objects with its more detailed object resizing and positioning in it's Edit window.
  3. Mole Watch: Day 4, live from SSPE2759. No significant visual changes in SSPE2759 from yesterday. And as of yet, no further additional regions added to Fantasseria's north east coast, which I had rather over-optimistically predicted for today. Yet. *waits* Got bored waiting, so went for a walk back to earlier regions. The Moles appear to have a system of fault checking and advisory markers placed at the various places where they've been busy. These markers are short and narrow one-metre tall coloured cone prims (pointy-side down) stuck in the ground (or object) and which have floating text hovering above them with various written remarks such as "Ground is flickering", "Move crystal nearer to rock", "Ground higher here" etc. I found one particular advisory cone stuck in some green turf near a coastline which made me raise an eyebrow as it simply reads "Fluffy", which is something I'm still pondering and curious about....?!
  4. Did you create a settings backup/restore folder for your new viewer yet? Otherwise redoing all your individual viewer settings manually again, should you need to clean-install ever again, is a time-consuming pain as you will have gathered by now.
  5. I turned off all logs well over 10 years ago as I have zero need for them. And all has been well. Although small in memory size, all that 'logging' would've just sat unread and unused in a folder while quietly eating away drive space, like beavers 'logging' in a lakeside forest.... (!)
  6. I have deduced from further observations in Fantasseria, that the Green sky marker regions have houses, but have no trees. Blue sky markers have regions decorated with trees, but don't have houses yet. And Purple markers are for regions which have both houses and trees. Yellow... I don't fully know. They seem to be public/social areas full of trees that don't or won't have houses in them, but then again, some of these yellow marked regions do have houses in them. Which is both confusing and probably wrong. Perhaps it means "Ready" ? Up in the Log continent there are some regions with red markers in them, yet nobody seems to live in the houses there, with houses still having individual parcel markers around them. Over in the Chalet's, theres pink region markers too, which mostly seem to be regions made with coastal docks for new houseboats, although there are no houseboats in them yet.
  7. I did a thorough tour of all of Heterocera continent's water areas today, taking measurements from all lakes, rivers and ponds to see how high the surface water is in each. I was surprised to discover that there are a total of NINE differing water levels, ranging from coastal (20m) up to 80m in some inland lakes. None are particular deep or expansive in surface area though. I made sure I landmarked all the areas I visited too. The nine water levels in Heterocera are more than the total I found in Sansara continent earlier this year, which had seven levels. I also found that Heterocera also has more waterfalls than Sansara too.
  8. Day 3 in my new imaginary award-winning BBC tv documentary series, "Mole Watch: How The Moles Build Sims" in which I would have Sir David Attenborough narrating in his calm, informative and whispery way. 😜 SSPE2759 has undergone another transformation, it has it's 22 parcels in place and now has it's 22 homes built too. Presently, there are no trees, foliage, mushrooms, rocks and crystals to be seen, or background sounds to be heard. However, high above the region, there is a huge 256m x 256m green region boundary marker "floating" at 100m, which will be presently be seen on the world map when it updates. What the green and other colour variations of these sky markers mean, I do not presently know. Perhaps the green is a status marker, meaning "this region is ready to have green stuff like plants, trees and other stuff"? Just my initial guess from the observations I've made so far. The extent of the progress that the Moles have made this week has been highly impressive, the "Green" sky markers now continue all the way up to SSPE2765, covering all ten new east coast regions that were added on the 12th November. The other sky markers around the continent seem to be of specific colours according to age. After green, theres blue, then purple, and some are yellow. Any ideas of their meanings?
  9. Then perhaps try to find that sneaky hidden folder from my first reply. It may or may not still be present on your PC. This PC > Windows 10 (C:) > Users > (Your PC account name) > App Data > Roaming > FirestormX64
  10. Uninstall and clean reinstall. You can uninstall through the Windows Start button, scoll down to "F" for Firestorm, click it's folder to open it, then click the "Uninstall Firestorm-Releasex64"
  11. Your Backup path appears to be blank at present, (that rectangular window at the top). Click the "Set" button to create a backup settings folder pathway if you haven't got one yet. If you have no settings saved, create a new folder in your PC's main account name folder, then name it something unforgettable like "Firestorm Settings Backup" and make the Firestorm's Backup "Set" as this new folder. And don't delete it!
  12. I would definitely keep a copy of your last Firestorm settings saved somewhere, just in case you choose to reinstall it again and to restore its settings to how you like them.
  13. No, your inventory is in SL's servers and not on your personal PC, which is why every single item in your inventory has a unique UUID (Universally Unique ID) code, which all viewers "fetch" from.
  14. On W10, there is a sneaky FirestormX64 folder that contains avatar account data "hidden" along this path: This PC > Windows 10 (C:) > Users > (Your PC account name) > App Data > Roaming > FirestormX64 Deleting the FirestormX64 folder, which contains your avatar account name, should remove records of login account names, passwords and login/logout screenshots. As for the backup feature, I would save a copy of your last backup just in case you wish to reinstall Firestorm and create a new backup path folder to restore your Firestorm settings, which can save a lot of time.
  15. Customer: "Can I get a cup of coffee?" Shop assistant: "Yes, you can." *awkward moment of silence and shop assistant keeps smiling* Customer (impatient): "Well? Where is it?" Shop assistant: "Where is what?" Customer: "My cup of coffee. I just asked you for coffee." Shop assistant: "No you didn't. You asked me if you could get a cup of coffee." Customer: "So can I get one?" Shop assistant: "Yes, you can." Moral: Always use the correct grammar. Or use grandpa if she's unavailable.
  16. Overhearing customers asking shop assistants this phrase, which makes my skin crawl: Customer: "Can I get this top/bottom/hat/shoe/cup of coffee/goldfish/slice of moon-cheese please?" Is the customer asking "Can I get?" as a question to see if it's available in stock? Or are they actually just wanting to buy it? If trying to buy, which it usually is, then the correct phrase would be "I would like...", rather than "Can I get?". It seems more common with people under the age of 30, are asking this as a question, rather than telling the shop assistant that they actually want to buy a thing. Grr.
  17. I like to use Bellisseria as a bridge that's conveniently located between the formerly separated and more interesting, creative and entertaining continents. 😜
  18. Definitely the left one. Middle one looks unnatural, artificial and two dimensional. So just like Megan Fox (!). Right one looks like the victim of a bad bee sting. Look at the size of that gob! It should alternatively be sold as a Steven Tyler (from Aerosmith) avatar head.
  19. I returned to SSPE2759 on the south-east coast of Fantasseria today, one day after finding the mysterious "Mole Art" there, which I surmised were 22 ready-made parcel boundary markers, laid out on the flat and featureless green plain of the new region. 24 hours on and SSPE2759 has been dramatically transformed! The land and some new waterways have been terraformed and 2759 has had it's parcels marked out - all 22 of them. But if you think that was impressive, take a look at SSPE2758 to the immediate south, which 24 hours ago, was also as flat and featureless as 2759 was too. Even the 22 parcel boundaries are now active (seen in the Minimap) and have had their 22 respective Fantasy Homes built into 2758. Great work from the Moles, they should be commended for their continued efforts and speed.
  20. Hmm. "Mole Art" or "Mole QR" code?! 🤔 Found these in SSPE2759 and SSPE2758 today. Each of these 22 purple squares measure 32m x 32m. I think they're actually 22 Fantasy Home parcel boundaries, flat-packed IKEA style, that have been "home delivered" and are ready for "home assembly" there (!)
  21. I've filed a new Jira proposal to get Heterocera's coastline fixed, specifically the "Tiger-Moma-Togata" corner. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-231433 Please leave a supportive comment if you agree. Thanks

  23. An AMD Ryzen APU is a wise choice, as you can run SL and play games on a PC without a GPU. That is, IF your motherboard has a built-in monitor socket, which most of the Ryzen AM4 socket motherboards (B550 or X570 chipsets) do. The performance of a Ryzen APU is acceptable for 720p or 1080p gaming. At a later date when (if?) stock and prices of GPU's have normalised again, you can buy a graphics card, such as a Nvidia RTX 3000 series GPU which have GDDR6 or GDDR6X (faster!) VRAM (video RAM) built into them. AMD make and sell Ryzen APU's of varying prices and performance for an AM4 socket motherboard; the 5300G (4 cores), 5600G (6 cores) or 5700G (8 cores). There are also newer "GE" versions of these APU's, they use electricity more efficiently (35W TDP vs 65W TDP) which results in cheaper electricity bills. However. there is a drawback with these Ryzen APU's - they only support up to PCI Express 3.0 hardware, not the faster and higher capacity 4.0 found in standard Ryzen 5000 series CPU's.
  24. @Aethelwine @Patch Linden@Derrick Linden @Abnor Mole Re: Heterocera Atoll "Tiger-Togata" coast fix. There is a very obvious (to me anyway), easy fix to the age-old single missing coastal region sim on Heterocera Atoll continent, between Tiger and Togata regions. Things there are complicated, as in the neighbouring Moma region, the water level there is higher at 35m, while the nearby coastal regions of Tiger and Togata are at the standard 20m height. On the border of Moma and Togata is an attractive waterfall, with water "falling" from Moma into Togata. But the coast is missing in this odd little corner of SL and prevents a full coastal circumnavigtion of Heterocera by boat. Adding in a new water region between Tiger and Togata as it is now won't work either, because the nearby private island Regalis region needs to have a specific gap wide enough to seperate it from intrusion from the continent and any water regions near to it. However, I have a cunning plan which should fix this issue! It involves moving the private Regalis region from it's usual grid position 993,1030 slightly north and west to an unused grid position of 991,1032 so that it does not interfere with other private island regions and is fully clear of Heterocera's coastline. When the move is done, Regalis' old 993,1030 position can now become an empty sea void. It will not be needed and will act as a separation buffer between Heterocera and the nearest private island regions. It also allows space for a new coastal region sim to be created on the coast. With the new void at 993,1030 in place, one new water region (with 20m surface water) can be created and placed (at grid position 994,1029) to the west of Tiger region, which completes the full navigable coast Heterocera continent. And best of all, there's no need to edit the unusual 35m high water level or the waterfalls in Moma, for which it was created. Or the road tunnel, which passes from Tiger, through Moma (its flooded!) and into Togata, which can stay as it is and remain as a charming oddity of SL. So there you go, a solution is found. You're welcome. So please DO IT! 😜
