  1. One of the biggest problems with Sansara continent is that there is currently no way to move by boat from Sansara's north coast to south coast, or vice-versa. Why? There is no contiguous waterway and water levels are much higher/deeper in Sansara's southern interior lakes. I've drawn some (hypothetical) plans below which create an east coast for the continent. The first idea involves a relocation of a 16 region sized micro-continent called "Islandia North" (to the north-east of Sansara) and adding 38 new water regions for an entirely protected waterway along the east side of Sansara, creating a proper coastline for the first time in its long history. The coastal route also utilises some existing water regions (between Sansara and Islandia South micro-continent) and connects at it's southern end to the north shore of Bellisseria, the new Linden Homes continent A second alternative to moving Islandia North, is to dig a protected water channel through the current Pine Coast (1031,1008) region, or Torver (1030,1007) region which could also work - and reduce the new region count by two to "only" 36. A third and the "cheapest" alternative would be to link only as north as Bleaberry Tarn (1030,1004), using a total of 33 new regions.
  2. @Coffee Pancake , 38 regions is "only" twice the number of new regions that were added to Jeogeot's north coast in 2019 to link it to Bellisseria. As for moving continents or smaller micro-continents, that is something that LL employees have already said can be done. And I've included two "cheaper" alternatives of 36 and 33 regions too.
  3. Hello all. I decided to start a new thread specifically for my favourite continent, Sansara - where SL all began, as did it's precursor, Linden World. My first post for this thread fixes one of the biggest problems with Sansara, as there is currently no way to move by boat from Sansara's north coast to south coast, or vice-versa. Why? There is no contiguous waterway and water levels are much higher/deeper in Sansara's interior lakes. My plan involves a short relocation of a 16 region sized micro-continent called "Islandia North" (to the north-east of Sansara) and adding 38 new water regions for an entirely protected waterway along the east side of Sansara, creating a proper coastline for the first time in its long history. The coastal route also utilises some existing water regions (between Sansara and Islandia South micro-continent) and connects at it's southern end to the north shore of Bellisseria, the new Linden Homes continent. A second cheaper alternative is to leave Islandia North where it is, but dig a protected water channel through the current Pine Coast (1031,1008) region, or Torver (1030,1007) region which could also work - and reduce the new region count by two to "only" 36. A third and the "cheapest" alternative would be to link only as north as Bleaberry Tarn (1030,1004), using a total of 33 new regions.
  4. Hello? What's this?! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------V Was just found by @Juliana Lethdetter And there's no sim region underneath it!!!
  5. Completing the log homes and its north coastline should be their priority before focusing on yet another theme . I'm tired of seeing unfinished projects across SL which were not completed because focus all went on the latest "big new shiny thing", that quickly became yesterday's news after the crowds dispersed. Meanwhile uncompleted stuff lays abandoned for years - sometimes decades - and is always a disappointment for the resident, visitors and a point of regret of everyone involved in it's creation. @Linden Lab @Patch Linden @Abnor Mole please break this cycle of short-sightedness, the throwaway mentality and complete a project before moving on to a newer one.
  6. I've had another link up idea. Transform a useless 4 region protected waterway "lake" into a useful east coast for Sansara, by adding 5 new regions to the sea between Sansara and Bellisserria. The water level in the "lake" is already at the standard 20m height. The block of 30 regions to the east are "Islandia South", which are all named after artists and is owned by Anshe Chung. However, she does not own the protected waterway's 4 regions. Then the route could theoretically continue northwards to further expand Sansara's coastline.
  7. @Nika Talaj Islandia South is a rectangular block of 30 regions all named after famous artists. It's separated from the east of Sansara by a four region long protected waterway which is at the standard 20m water level height. But there are voids at either end and it goes nowhere. Islandia South is owned by Anshe Chung, but she doesn't own the protected waterway. I think linking this waterway to Belliserria would be good for residents on both continents and for Islandia South's residents too.
  8. Questions for the Moles or Lindens.... Will Bellisseria Log Homes continent ever get a northern coast? If so, could this coast's waterway be expanded along the top of Bellisseria West so to join to the protected waterway between Sansara's east coast and Islandia South, as no such link presently exists there.
  9. A quick calculation of total active SL regions (26,843) vs region sizes gives a total usable contiguous surface area of 1,759.182 square kilometres, or 1,093.105 square miles. For comparison, the map in Grand Theft Auto 5 is 127 square kilometres, or 49 square miles. Which means SL's usable surface area is 13 times the size of the GTA 5 map. In the real world, SL would cover an area only slightly larger than West Falkland (1,749 square km) in the Falkland Islands.
  10. An updated Gaeta IV too, I noticed I'd accidently included one too many regions on it's southern coast at (1204,1114), which is now fixed. A total of 349 regions.
  11. A non-mainland region called Port Babbage has parts of its sea bed at 0m, while its surface water is at 100m !
  12. The newest Stilt islands now have houses and roads, as well as a new bridge connecting to the Chalet homes regions at SSPE1791.
  13. Updated my Gaeta I map with waterway link to Gaeta II and newer "soft focus" surface texturing.
  14. Following my Gaeta I map, I decided to create new maps of Gaeta II, Gaeta III and Gaeta IV - using only the regions reserved for it in the ocean void. As these were never actually created inworld, I have left their details deliberately vague and soft-focus to maintain a sense of "mystery", although they do occupy the exact same regions that were reserved for their creation. I added some extra regions (in blue) to act as links to neighbouring Gaeta continents as I'm sure the links would have been added in time. Once again, thanks to @4lice Cerise and @Eddy Ofarrel for the data and inspiration. ^ Click a few times for full screen size. ^ Click a few times for full screen size. ^ Click a few times for full screen size. Gaeta I : 141 regions (current), 243 (completed) Gaeta II : 109 regions Gaeta III: 99 regions Gaeta IV : 350 regions Gaeta V : 385 regions (*link regions not included)
  15. There are two neighbouring sim regions at Wall and Star which form parts of a giant lake in south-east Sansara continent. Parts of these two regions form a very deep trench in the lake bed with 0m altitude and with a surface water level of 80m. As its so deep there, very little sunlight gets down that far, which can make it feel a bit creepy. This may be the deepest water in all of SL's mainland as far as I can tell. Normally, the default water height is 20m around the coasts and in rivers. This lake, with its high water level, is surrounded (or contained) by mountains and three massive dams at Ganymede, Sugarloaf and Sutherland . This is also why it's impossible to travel from Sansara's north to south (or vice versa) coasts by boat because of the different water levels. Sadly, nobody has invented working lock gates for SL. Yet...
  16. Any way of changing the dark grass texture to the lighter original one used on the neighbouring continents, @Abnor Mole ?
  17. Here is my imaginary Gaeta I concept, which is based on actual reserved regions, but never used for its creation. I've added a couple of extra regions at the bottom to show what a link to Corsica might look like too. ^ Click a few times for full screen size.
  18. @Fleur AureliaI think you misunderstood my post. I was speaking about Bellisseria only from the world map's view.
  19. Viewed on the world map, I find Bellisseria to be the ugliest and most artificial looking continent compared to the others. None of its coastal shapes or terrain look geologically natural. Even it's darker grass colour is wrong and irritates me. Bellisseria reminds me of housing developments found on artificial islands built off the United Arab Emirates' coastline, pictured below. However, Bellisseria has one redeeming feature, it acts as a convenient bridge between Sansara, Jeogeot and Satori, which I am grateful for. But I do wish Bellisseria had been designed and built more carefully with a more pleasing and natural looking geological appearance that blends with its neighbouring continents, as I feel that it has "spoiled" the overall map.
  20. I think I might have a go at drawing a proper map of an imaginary and completed Gaeta I....
  21. Screenshot taken from map on Second Life website, showing the true shapes of the newest islands.
  22. Thanks! Funnily enough, by coincidence, I passed very close to you yesterday as I was on my way to Jeogeot.. I saw your blue mini map dot while I was travelling through Serpent Hatchery and paused to peek. You were working in SSPE1773 ( I think), one of the block of twelve new Stilt Home regions recently added, filling that hole.
  23. On 19th May 2021, I decided go on a very long SL journey - from the most extreme north-eastern region of the connected mainland continents (Gaeta V - Giuseppe) to the most southern connected point, which I identified as being Tully Low at the bottom of Jeogeot. And by using only one vehicle, which was not an aeroplane. The vehicle I chose was a hovercraft. Good on both land and sea. And surprisingly fast. Well, at least the one I had was. Reaching the Blake Sea from Gaeta V was easy and I got distracted by the Blake Sea's and Nautilus' familiar sights and places., I even crossed Satori's east side momentarily to visit the Mole island! Realising that I was wasting time, I got on with the journey, going down through Satori, Belllisseria (where I picked up a passenger!) and into Jeogeot and eventually reached Tully Low - six hours after starting from Gaeta V. Feeling a sense of pride and achievement, I decided to keep going. I decided to go onwards to the northern-most tip of Heterocera continent, which I identified as Fillip. And a few hours later, I reached it. Then I went to bed very very late and exhausted. Would I do the journey again? Yes. Here is my route, which was a bit iffy in places (apologies to parcel owners on Satori and Jeogeot whose lands I might have zipped across quickly...) ^ Click map a few times to enlarge it.

  25. That certain part of Gaeta I is known as Magellan Pen1nsular, not it's official LL name. (wow really LL, you censored a geological word?!) https://slgi.fandom.com/wiki/Magellan_Peninsula
