  1. I think they're just generic region template types used. Island, Reef, Coastal, Inland. By the way, the proposed southern extension to Bellisseria will mean the current two region wide sea channel to Jeogoet will be reduced in width to one region wide in parts, as the right side of the channel forms part of the extension's western coastline. I know this, because I've drawn a composite map in Photoshop. Seven of the right-side Jeogoet channel sims (coloured red ^) would eventually become part of the southern extension's western coastline. They are named: Giant Squid (top), Bathyscaphe, Alvin, Americas Cup, Regatta, Starboard Cross, Fair Keel (bottom). @Patch Linden @Abnor Mole Perhaps the whole southern SSP extension could be shifted one region width to the east (right) to avoid losing these seven navigable Jeogeot channel regions?
  2. Btw, if @Patch Linden and his minions want to keep the SSP secrets a surprise, how about rezzing some 256x256 megaprims at 400m altitude so that no one can see whats going on underneath??! And Patch, please, please PLEASE make the western coast of the new continent wider for large ships, the narrow 20m channel width (at Gazaway region and northwards) is woefully inadequate.
  3. Eighteen new water sims have appeared on the north-east coast of Jeogeot continent which links Jeogeot with it's island and the new continental sea channel. This means Jeogoet's bay area is now reachable by sea from the SSP and Sansara continents! I have highlighted these new sims in yellow: The new sim names are (from south-west up to north east) : Phthalo Sands, Urupa, Venetzia, Vacques Vent, Aguacristalina, Miranda Delta, Wilson Landing, Playa del Imperio, Tonga Trench, Sunny Sea, Deep Blue Hole, Harrington Sound, Blue Abyss, Rolling Waves, Dark Expanse, Termore Bay, Arching Sea, Waves of Rugwick.

  5. The new continent is now connected to Sansara with the reopening of 5 water regions to the north. It is also now connected to Jeogoet continent with 2 new water regions to its south, which link it to the recently added sea channel from Jeogoet. However, and stupidly, the channel narrows to only 20 metres wide at the coast of Gazaway and Queen Mary regions, and is infuriatingly impassable to large ships.
  6. There is no rez zone for boats if you don't live on this new continent. This sucks bigtime, especially after a wasted hours voyage north from Jeogoet continent and my progress was halted by a stupidly narrow coastline.
  7. Hello. ^ Off I went from Jeogoet continent, high in hope, in my Royal Navy Type 45 destroyer HMS Dragon (made by Joe Sparrow, modified by me!) on a voyage from Jeogeot continent up to Sansara continent, via the new sea channel and new continent. ^ Much time later, and two sims north of Whitecap (where the sea channel stopped only yesterday), I finally arrived into the "new" region of Kuga, which has an island with an impressively large lighthouse on top of it. ^ However, I was unable to continue my voyage north all the way to Sansara continent, as the coastal water channel at Gazaway region narrowed to only 20 metres wide and is also directly after a sim crossing. This 20 metre wide channel continues northwards to Queen Mary and Damiano region too, before widening out again. Imagine my frustration and anger after an hours wasted voyage time, with no way of re-rezzing my ship in wider waters. This coastal sea channel needs to be widened now.
  8. I hope the continent connections, navigable air and sea channels which @Patch Linden spoke of aren't exclusively for just their shiny new Linden Homes continent. SL's "protected" waterways around the coasts of all other continents, are too narrow or shallow and are infuriatingly clogged up and blocked with selfish Resident owned objects and parcel "extensions" that aren't allowed and shouldn't be there.
  9. Boo! The Lindens closed my Feature Request JIRA. They gave me a standard copy and paste "it is not something we can tackle at this time." reply. *sigh*
  10. No, they have been there since at least 2010, these six sims were used for the 2010 SL Sci-Fi Convention. I know, because I went to it and still have their landmarks. The land was rented and flattened, then restored after the convention was over. There were five sims running west to east under those and between the new continent last week, now they are inactive. Probably to prevent intruders.
  11. @Alyona Su There actually is an inworld SL Group, "Connect The Continents", which I joined. But I still did the maps and JIRA independently of that. And to please the coastal route fans, I'm editing a new regional map for an east-west link-up specifically between Sansara/Heterocera and Satori continents. Don't worry, I won't add it in the JIRA, this is purely for this forum/group. I'll post it here later. I'll be adding in a few more coastal regions to the coasts to allow routes to be as wide and navigable as possible. A few regions will need shifting....
  12. I've added a second alternative "slim" version map, which keeps the most major routes, but isn't as hungry for region resources. Apologies to Zindra and Sharp. My first earlier map is now dubbed the "fat" version.
  13. As I've said in SL many times before, " If you don't ask, you don't get". Nobody seems to be asking. So I have. However, I fully expect LL to say no to my ideas, but at least I will have actually tried to do something about it. And maybe my effort may trigger an idea of their own. As for the straight lines and right angles, I'm not a fan of quick diagonal 3 sim corner hopping, its terrible for smooth sim crossings. I also wanted to recreate the look and feel of a long distance ocean voyage for large ships, which are usually far out at sea. Doing long distance inter-continental voyages tightly pressed up against a short, shallow coastline or river in a Queen Mary sized ocean liner, freighter, warship or oil tanker may prove to be difficult or impossible. As many people will testify, there is very little access to large bodies of water in SL for those who have large ships, while smaller vessels such as sail and motor boats are relatively spoilt for choices. Aircraft too, especially airliners, perform better in long straight uncluttered sim corridors away from skyboxes, parcel security orbs and the general lagginess of populated land. Anyone who has flown up the new long straight remote Jeogoet sea channel recently will agree with this.
  14. I didn't send my proposal to the JIRA in the name of this forum or the SL group, so its incorrect for you to presume that. I did it independently. I'm merely telling you that I had done it, as you seem to share the same interest and goal as I do. I represent no one else, except myself in this proposal.
  15. Hello all. I doodled an imaginary network of sea channels on a map of SL. The Light Blue areas already exist. The Dark Blue don't. Yet... I have been encouraged to submit this idea proposal to the JIRA as a new Feature Request. So I did. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-226642 I hope some good comes of my little doodle.
  16. Done! https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/BUG-226642 I hope some good comes of my little doodle.

  18. If its in the Hartnell region, it has to be First Doctor ("Doctor Who") related...
  19. Hello again, I've edited a current map, to include the fully completed SSP continent - with an idea proposal: The green area is the full extent of the completed SSP new continent, which measures 16 x 24 regions. The light blue area is the new two region wide north-south sea channel from Jeogoet, whose top eight regions are already placed inside the new continent's completed footprint. The dark blue area is my proposal for an 18 x 26 outer perimeter of protected deep water sea channels for large sea vessels that fully surrounds the completed new continent. This perimeter could form a central hub for further new sea channels to other nearby regions and distant continents in the future. Five pre-existing protected sims (Grand Banks, Lobster Pot, Marianas Trench, Magellan Deep, Albatross Sholls - coloured grey ) could form part of the northern coastal edge of the perimeter regions. What do you think?
  20. Hello all, I have been exploring the various continents of SL for almost 11 years and confidently know my way around the SL grid/map. I was pleased to learn the recent news of the new two region wide inter-continental sea channel which was placed into the grid recently, which would allow direct sea travel between Sansara and Jeogoet continents for the first time without the need of teleporting. But suddenly late last week, a new continent appeared at the channel's top, which now seems to have blocked off hopes of a wide navigable north-south sea route for large vessels between the Sansara and Jeogoet continents, and that has saddened me. It worries and disappoints me that the new continent's coastline now only seems suitable for small sail and motor boats. I would have loved the ability to sail from Jeogoet to Sansara in a larger sea vessel, while avoiding the narrow and crowded confines of harbours, marinas, narrow channels and coastlines of the new continent. I have noticed from the earlier SSP continent design (to the far north of Corsica/Gaeta 1) that it measures 16 x 24 regions in size, a total of 384. Instead, could an additional "outer rim" of border/edge sea regions be placed around the completed new continent, (making it 18x26, a total 468 regions) so that sea travellers who wish to bypass the new continent may do so, without disturbing the new continent's residents, their property and also avoiding the new continents shorter coastlines and marina areas? Could @Patch Linden share any views or news on this please?
