  1. Just use an amphibious vehicle. Back in May of 2021, I completed a non-stop nine hour trip across of all of SL's connected mainland continents - in a hovercraft! 😎
  2. Eight new regions have appeared on the map, with two in the northwest of Ranch and six to the southeast of Mediterranean. I'm guessing that the gap between Mediterranean and the new six possibly exists for future SSP regions, possibly for a railway line from Ranch to Sakura via Mediterranean?(!) Names: Ranch (2): Travellers Rest, Tater Thicket. Mediterranean (6): Greenfield Park, Weekend Princess, Redfield Corner, Lost Shepherd, Mellow Pines, Ryefield Village.
  3. Found a nice, but lesser-known Mole-built cinema at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The Theatre/79/128/26. It was built by @Mini Mole in 2008 and is smaller than the Hub one, but perhaps moving the Hub's films to this one would give it a purpose again and free up the Hub land for something more New Resident orientated. While you're there, check out the amusing Mole-themed film posters in the cinema's corridors.
  4. The "sea" around private island sim regions is an illusion, they are empty voids, collectively known as "The Great Void Sea". That is, unless you actually have neighbouring sim regions around the island that contain actual sea. Look on the world map. Each sim has a unique name. If there are no named sims bordering your private island, then you are surrounded by "The Great Void Sea".
  5. I've mapped a Bleaberry Tarn (Sansara) to Columbia (Heterocera Atoll) sailing route, which I completed in my Batboat - in both directions. ^ This is the shortest possible route by boat Ive found. It's quite a tricky route, but as long as you're using a minimap with the Property Lines showing, you shouldn't sail into any private parcels accidentally.
  6. You might need to explain A4 and worldwide ISO paper size standards to the US readers, they don't use it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size
  7. England is a nation and a non-sovereign country of the UK. Great Britain is just the name of the world's ninth largest island. It isn't a country. There are thousands of other islands in the UK. And I was born on a smaller English island not called "Great Britain". The United Kingdom is the sovereign state owned by the monarchy and Crown that owns England and the other nations of the UK, which includes Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland (and arguably Cornwall too). My nationality is English, my native tongue is English, my ethnicity is English. There isn't a singular "British" nationality, a language called "British", or a "British" ethnicity. They don't exist. "British" is just a one-size-fits-all citizenship (not nationality) of the UK's four nations used for a single, simpler, more efficient UK-wide passport.
  8. In your viewer Preference settings, you should find a "Allow login to other grids" setting. In Firestorm, its found in the Preferences > Advanced. Without that setting enabled, you won't have a visible option on the login screen to select the Beta/Aditi grid when you next attempt a login.
  9. I'm not British. I'm English.
  10. Why does the Hub still have those perpetually empty and unused Motown and Cinema sims as part of the "New Resident" experience? I doubt very much that the average New Resident wants to spend their first few minutes or hours in SL by sitting alone in an empty cinema watching videos, or walking around a deserted ghost town that has no live Motown music being performed in it. (And even if Motown sim were actually busy, is it really a suitable place that a New Resident wants to be trapped inside, suffering crippling lag because of crowds of high complexity avatars?) Don't delete them, but instead move these two sims to somewhere else in the SL grid and instead provide something more relevant and useful to New Residents to teach them useful things about SL. Use the two leftover spaces in the Hub to provide tuition/mentoring/videos in languages that are not solely English based. And provide them with portal pathways to places/groups relevant to their home nation and native language. In the Real World, only 17% of humanity speaks English as a first language. But at the Hub, New Residents only get signs and tuition videos in English. So if you can't speak English there, you're ****ed. Ironically, Second Lifes's main website has a choice of NINE languages, which might have persuaded the non-English speaking New Resident users to try SL in the first place. But when they get to the Hub.... they're confronted with just English and no other option. How very welcoming! Madness.
  11. Alternatively, "Sarah's Sailing Place" ... 😜
  12. The four new Ranch regions are now on the World Map. Names: Los Topos, Delta Dawn, Tulsa Thyme, Eastbound Downs.
  13. @Betth Ashbourne "New music artist"? Emma Bunton was/is Baby Spice from The Spice Girls.
  14. SSPNap Time, SSPSunnybrook, SSPSecret Sping, SSPThird Wish, SSPLavender Haze. Names all visible on inworld World Map now.
  15. Well, Patch is one of the people who is Governor Linden. So what I said was true, from a certain point of view. There are other unseen Lindens who use "Governor Linden" too, mostly to control ownership of protected mainland parcels, builds, routes and all the other "official LL" stuff that the LDPW (and others) create for SL. Never seen or met the "Gov" in person myself, but apparently, "they" have purple hair...
  16. Governor Linden is the chief of the Governance Lindens (plural), who are a team of (usually) unseen Lindens who "police" SL.
  17. Hiding account age is pretty pointless as account Last Names are specific to certain periods of time.
  18. Governor Linden is Patch Linden. I thought everyone knew that? It's fairly obvious.
  19. Fifteen new region names are now visible on the World Map. There are three in the northwest of Ranch. There is also one between Ranch and Mediterranean (at Outwash) forming a tunnel link. And there are eleven new regions added to the east of Mediterranean. Their names are: Ranch Northwest (3) Subtle Ridge, Opal Hill, Uncanny Valley. Ranch-Mediterranean Tunnel (1) Outwash. Mediterranean East (11) Sogni dOro, Termas Romanas, Mahrajan. Kefi, Camp Manzanita, Faro Lontano. Suncrest, Moonlight Dance, Tonto Bailando. Migliori Ulivi, Grande Baguette.
