  1. fishing rod and blue pet are part of a game i play
  2. If you can modify something with scripts in it, and the creator made the script's permissions modifiable as well (or rather failed to select them as not modifiable), then hypothetically you would be able to copy the scripts? And take someone's hard work to pin off as your sort-of own.
  3. As someone from Gen Z myself and who has 3 siblings in Gen A, I sometimes play Roblox, Minecraft, etc. with them, but find myself ultimately returning to SL way more because of its creative, social, and technical capabilities. It is truly like nothing else. I believe some in Gen Alpha are like me, who grew up being able to access technology and found themselves immediately joining virtual worlds. If they aspire to those kinds of environments, some will simply find the "limitations" of how "easy" the UI is, settings, etc. of games like Roblox and Minecraft to be all they want, while others are like me in that they wanted something more to accomplish.
  4. Okay, so you are officially cooler than all of us. Just saying.
  5. Thanks for the in-depth explanation! I didn't know all this.
  6. I was looking through the Second Life Glossary on their wiki and found an entry called Agni, which is apparently like a "nickname" for the main grid? I've never heard of this -- can someone explain what this means or is it just a nickname that stuck culturally? Have you ever heard of Agni? 😝
  7. I read the terms of SL and the content creation guidelines, but still have questions about creating content in SL that might play off of already-copyrighted content. Like, I've seen people selling things that are hello kitty, the simpsons, etc. but those are obviously copyrighted material. Did they get permission from those companies to sell furniture or clothes based off hello kitty, for example, or do they just get away with it? Is this legal?
  8. I have three thoughts: 1. If you swipe out of the SL app to quickly use another app, does it log you out? Or if you swipe back within a few minutes, does it keep your progress and you don't have to log back in again? How would this appear to other users -- you're AFK or something? 2. If the SL app turns out to be very popular with new users, is that then going to be the standard for a lot of people -- that things will be oriented toward mobile users? I think SL runs better and you can do a HELL of a lot more on desktop. 3. SL app comes out before it's really all that good and it turns new potential users away because they think that's "all there is."
  9. You've got your in-world profile set to say absolutely no IMs or notecards to you - and on the offchance part of that is still correct, I think it's safe to just reply to this and you can message ME. Hi there! 😃
