  1. The undersea train tunnel between Log and Ranch (SSPShe Sells & SSPPencil Point) has a new double-tracked passing point inside it, replacing the single central track that it initially had before...
  2. The new rail bridge reaches the same height as the Goodge Reef/Typhoon road bridge, which is fine. But at the moment, the rail bridge's columns are only 10 metres apart from each other, which simply isn't wide enough for a catamaran/trimaran or larger vessels to pass between. I hope it gets a wider central arch span in the middle of it for a main boat channel like the Goodge Reef/Typhoon bridge has.
  3. Names (6): SSPLobster Bisque, SSPCougar Den, SSPMidnight Waltz, SSPWindward Drift, SSPSubtle Joy, SSPEscape Quay.
  4. Eleven new LH regions have appeared on the inworld map, six in the northwest of Ranch and five in the south of Mediterranean. Names: Ranch (6): Noname Crossroads, Dustup, Prairie Chicken, Kiowa Ridge, Mairzy Doats, Okie Dokie. Mediterranean (5): Pelotas, Pronto, Cape Madelaina, Promesa Verde, Lac de Larmes.
  5. listen(integer channel, string name, key id, string message) integer channel not set to listen to 88 ?
  6. One alternative way to do it is to change the scale of yours and other people's avatars to fit the dimensions or limitations of a build or sim area. Several years ago, I personally remember that there was once a Moon exploration sim, but the astronaut avatars used to explore it were very very small. They all had reduced walking speed and gravity AO's and had a lower down camera angle view too. Doing all this gave the perception of the Moon sim's size was much bigger and more expansive than it actually was. It was quite realistic. Theoretically, if you were to build a 13 acre park at half size scale, then you could have half-sized avatars using it with half-speed walking AO's with a lower camera perspective and there wouldn't be any noticible difference - as long as sim grid coordinates and other non scaled distractions aren't looked at!
  7. I've had an idea for a new way of "storing" an outfit in the inventory which doesn't currently exist. Currently, an outfit is basically a folder of copied links from original outfit components, which when amassed over months, years and decades can cause an inventory size to balloon to extreme sizes, causing a larger inventory, slower inventory caching and laggier sim crossings. Instead, how about a new outfit folder system that just contains a single unique UUID code component and not a list of copied links? This outfit UUID component could be given a custom descriptive name by the user, while also still retaining that unique UUID. Editing it would open a "currently worn" outfit folder and reveal all the worn outfit elements. Right-Click on another outfit UUID and have a temporary "Show Outfit" option too. Any changes to the contents of the outfit would result in a new UUID being created.
  8. It's correct and acceptable that there are some English influenced names in the Mediterranean theme, as there are still some British Overseas Territories located in the Mediterranean Sea.
  9. I think the railway line is more likely to use diagonal angles, rather than 90 degree right-angled turns. You just don't see those kinds of right-angled turns in real life tracks because they can cause derailments. And SL track across the grid seem to (mostly) follow the same too. That imaginary sim to the west of Jolly Serpent (above) should have a diagonal track going across it from SW to NE, not right-angled turns. The most recent Mediterranean sims of SSPCondor Pass and SSPSignal Crescent which have diagonal tracks in them are a good examples of this.
  10. Map updated, and now visible on World Map. Ranch (2): Travellers Rest, Tater Thicket. Mediterranean (14): SSPCondor Pass, SSPTorre Grigia, SSPKestrel Skies, SSPWondering Minstrels, SSPOtro Gallo, SSPSignal Crescent, Greenfield Park, Weekend Princess, Redfield Corner, Lost Shepherd, SSPAube Lilas, Mellow Pines, Ryefield Village, SSPEtoile Brilliante.
  11. Oh nicely guessed. 😎 Have now made a new map, will post it tomorrow when these new SSP regions appear on the inworld map. Now the next question, a railway line from Ranch to Mediterranean; bridge or tunnel and from which region?
  12. @AmeliaJ08 *No special tools necessary. Just plan ahead and do your homework for the route you want to take. Rehearse tricky bits before doing the whole thing. *I like to use just one vehicle, no flying, no teleporting, no changing vehicle for the entire journey. *Research and find alternative backup routes too if your primary route doesn't work out as planned, or is changed somehow by unexpected parcel redevelopments. *Experiment with low graphics settings to keep the FPS rate up. *Surprisingly, a 200m draw distance seems to actually help preload (cache) a sim in during long-distance trips and sudden background "pop-up" rez lag is reduced. *Make your avatar as basic as possible and don't wear unnecessary scripted attachments and HUDs. *Use an amphibious vehicle which is quick and turns easily, like a hovercraft, or can climb steep hills or cliffs - like a fast moving hovercraft! *Don't be afraid of taking big jumps from cliff tops into the seas! *Keep the World Map open in a top corner of your screen with "you" focused in the middle of it, so you can anticipate what is ahead. *Have the Minimap open in the opposite corner, with parcel boundary filter on to avoid driving into or through private parcels. *Keep an eye out for rez zones just in case you need to back track and rerez your vehicle. Don't cheat and skip sims forwards to find an "easy" place to rez. *Find a "trip logger" HUD which counts and records all the sim names you pass through, some HUDs also record the distance travelled, your speeds and time taken.
  13. Just use an amphibious vehicle. Back in May of 2021, I completed a non-stop nine hour trip across of all of SL's connected mainland continents - in a hovercraft! 😎
  14. Eight new regions have appeared on the map, with two in the northwest of Ranch and six to the southeast of Mediterranean. I'm guessing that the gap between Mediterranean and the new six possibly exists for future SSP regions, possibly for a railway line from Ranch to Sakura via Mediterranean?(!) Names: Ranch (2): Travellers Rest, Tater Thicket. Mediterranean (6): Greenfield Park, Weekend Princess, Redfield Corner, Lost Shepherd, Mellow Pines, Ryefield Village.
  15. Found a nice, but lesser-known Mole-built cinema at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The Theatre/79/128/26. It was built by @Mini Mole in 2008 and is smaller than the Hub one, but perhaps moving the Hub's films to this one would give it a purpose again and free up the Hub land for something more New Resident orientated. While you're there, check out the amusing Mole-themed film posters in the cinema's corridors.
  16. The "sea" around private island sim regions is an illusion, they are empty voids, collectively known as "The Great Void Sea". That is, unless you actually have neighbouring sim regions around the island that contain actual sea. Look on the world map. Each sim has a unique name. If there are no named sims bordering your private island, then you are surrounded by "The Great Void Sea".
  17. I've mapped a Bleaberry Tarn (Sansara) to Columbia (Heterocera Atoll) sailing route, which I completed in my Batboat - in both directions. ^ This is the shortest possible route by boat Ive found. It's quite a tricky route, but as long as you're using a minimap with the Property Lines showing, you shouldn't sail into any private parcels accidentally.
  18. You might need to explain A4 and worldwide ISO paper size standards to the US readers, they don't use it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_size
  19. England is a nation and a non-sovereign country of the UK. Great Britain is just the name of the world's ninth largest island. It isn't a country. There are thousands of other islands in the UK. And I was born on a smaller English island not called "Great Britain". The United Kingdom is the sovereign state owned by the monarchy and Crown that owns England and the other nations of the UK, which includes Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland (and arguably Cornwall too). My nationality is English, my native tongue is English, my ethnicity is English. There isn't a singular "British" nationality, a language called "British", or a "British" ethnicity. They don't exist. "British" is just a one-size-fits-all citizenship (not nationality) of the UK's four nations used for a single, simpler, more efficient UK-wide passport.
  20. In your viewer Preference settings, you should find a "Allow login to other grids" setting. In Firestorm, its found in the Preferences > Advanced. Without that setting enabled, you won't have a visible option on the login screen to select the Beta/Aditi grid when you next attempt a login.
  21. I'm not British. I'm English.
