Where is the SLURL?
-
Changing rules to match Bellisseria is not going to happen. If people are "expecting" it, they are going to be disappointed.

This reminds me so much of how much I hate when a supervisor stands RIGHT BEHIND me to watch as I'm working. I feel your pain, Abnor!

That's pretty much what happens, which is why I like to throw houses out there without announcing it, so that it's more random as to who will get them (and the non-forum folks can get some nice "leftovers"). I did manage to pass one Sakura to a friend a few weeks ago when the new regions were first rolling out. There were a ton of nice Sakuras out there, and it was pure luck that she got the one I tossed, but I don't feel bad about it since there were so many lovely homes there for the taking. Otherwise, the only transfers I've made in some time were moving a trad to myself from an alt, which I wouldn't think anyone would have a problem with. That's the main reason I wouldn't want abandons to go to the back of the queue.

I got a question about buying land in the mainland
Sylvia Tamalyn replied to MaxSilverDragon's topic in Mainland
To add a bit: your land is billed based on the highest total of square meters you owned in the previous billing month, even if you only own it for a few minutes. So, on the first billing date after you bought the parcel, you'd be billed for the 4096 sq m. If you split the land before that same billing date, so that during the *next* billing month, you did NOT own the full 4096 for any time at all, then your billing amount would drop down to the new high rate, whatever that might turn out to be. EDIT: I forgot to add that @MoiraKathleen's method of having the group buy is exactly how I would do it, too. -
What's the easiest way to get my land sold?
Sylvia Tamalyn replied to Sukii Allure's topic in Mainland
Like Persephone said, L$3,000 is around $12 USD, so if it starts stressing you too much, you might consider just abandoning the parcel. You'd lose your $12 but then you would have your 1024 land allowance freed up to get a nice Linden Home to play with. You are the only one who can decide how important trying to get some or all of the $12 back is to you. -
What's the easiest way to get my land sold?
Sylvia Tamalyn replied to Sukii Allure's topic in Mainland
Just an FYI, that price is probably on the high side for that location. You can look at the map and see what other parcels in the area are selling for, to see if you are being realistic in your pricing. -
The chalet parcels all have the same homes in the house controller, which is located outside of the house. I believe in the chalets, it is a mailbox. Once you get a parcel, go to it and click on the outside controller, and you can pick which style of building you want on the parcel. Then, inside the front door, you'll find a button (control panel) you can click to redecorate (choose colors). How many times did you claim parcels today? You are allowed 5 attempts in 24 hours. If you used all 5, your next chance will be 24 hours from the first time you claimed a parcel today. EDIT: Even if you get the same parcel all five tries, it counts as five separate attempts, and then you'll have to wait to try again.

List it in the appropriate section of the forums. Also, once you have set it for sale, it will show on the in world map as being available for purchase. -
Just an FYI so people don't waste time clicking on the SLURL: The Shop and Hop event doesn't open to the public until tomorrow. If you want in today, you must first join the SL Birthday Group. Source:

I usually just go with "Object littering". The important thing is to be specific in the Summary and Details. I always mention "Bellisseria" in the Summary line, and then in the details, say what it is I'm reporting and quote the bit of the Covenant that I'm referring to.

Personally, I would much rather rent from someone who uses a sky sign to get their land noticed on the map rather than someone who fake-lists their land for "sale" using an astronomical price because they just want that yellow on the map and don't really look to sell. I would never rent from someone who does that stunt. It's common in Bay City, where a couple of land flippers abuse the "sale" option regularly.

In a way, it makes sense. The skincare items are tangible things one can look at and think "this was something I bought to take care of my skin, which is a worthy investment". SL, on the surface, is made up of pixels that you don't really "own". You can't open a cabinet and find items to represent the money you paid for SL. On the surface, it seems like paying for air! It's when you look beyond the pixels to see what they represent that the value of SL appears and makes it a worthy investment as well. Whether it's friendship, community, education, artistic expression... whatever we get from SL and all those pixels is a worthy investment, too. Mental well-being, learning skills, all of those invisible things are as important as having good skin. Sometimes it's just harder to convince yourself of that, I think, and that could be where your feeling of guilt comes from. It's like if you don't have something solid to show for your money, you have wasted it... even if the "solid" things often wind up expired and in the trash.

Sakura (possibly just Shion) color picker problem
Sylvia Tamalyn replied to Frigga Freidman's topic in Linden Homes
I've never paid attention to that tab, either! Good to know. -
Sakura (possibly just Shion) color picker problem
Sylvia Tamalyn replied to Frigga Freidman's topic in Linden Homes
I don't think I've seen this issue, but as a workaround, I'd just make a prim cube, use the eyedropper thing to copy the tint from the custom-colored wall to it, and grab the values that way. That's how I do it when I want to copy a color from one LH to another. (I realize you didn't ask for a workaround, but I mention it in case anyone doesn't know how to do this!) EDIT: Here's a thread about what appears to be the same issue with the Newbrookes: -
Sell Parcel - 5625 PRIM for 2500L$
Sylvia Tamalyn replied to FernandaCassia's topic in Private Island
A private region for L$2,500? Something seems very odd about this listing. -
I think of it as my entertainment allowance. In RL, people spend money on stuff like movies, hobbies, playing golf, buying booze, getting pedicures, going to sporting events, going to concerts, hanging out at clubs.... all sorts of things that are not necessary for survival, but they are things people enjoy and there's nothing wrong with that. Some of us use our "entertainment allowance" on SL, and there's nothing wrong with that, either. I sometimes sell my various parcels (and give up any LHs) just for the fun of having a clean slate and finding new spots to buy, but I do not do it because I think I should do it. What I have done on occasion is drop down a tier level, but that's really more because it starts to feel cluttered when I have too many parcels and find I'm not really visiting some of them. But finding parcels I love, buying and decorating them... this is fun for me, so no, I wouldn't like SL so much if I couldn't do that. I would definitely miss my hobby of playing with land, and would seldom log on, I think. I don't feel guilty spending my entertainment money in this way. It keeps me sane.

Do we have any idea what Kodokuna Josei will eventually turn out to be? It's the one that has the large water area leading into Jollly Serpent and on down to the stilt homes. I assume the rail line will continue down from Shobu, but am wondering if the park-like landscaping will as well, or if there's something else in the works.

The house I posted is in Sekiei. I didn't know there was a clone, though I've seen a few other sets of clones around!
