Direct delivery was eventually supposed to be able to handle such items, but thus far it can't. Re: Direct Delivery Migration FAQ ‎03-08-2013 06:07 PM Q: I sell Limited Quantity Items, will my store disappear on 16 April? A: No. Limited Quantity Items may still use, and be listed with the Magic Box. Q: I am unable to upload my Breedables through the Merchant Outbox. A: At this time, Limited Quantity items (items that the Merchant does not have rights to copy) are not supported through Direct Delivery. If you type in kot horse in the search engine, it should pop up as the first result. It would be listed at KOT Horse Stables. I hope this helps, somewhat? EDIT: Type kot horse in the search engine located in game, I mean. I'll try again. Last time I was in world I tried KOT and KOT horses and didn't get any hits. (I was using the Places tab.) I then just began inputting horse stables, horseback riding, horses, and any related words I could think of. Could have been a bad search engine day in SL.

Doesn't anyone see the bigger picture? (I do not like the $3 an hour rate, but for people who spend 4 hours a week in SL on the weekend and have no other need for a $1500-$2000 machine, it's actually very reasonable.) Ummmm...the PC I use to run SL cost me approximately $800 USD. That PC won't run SL on ultra settings with 200 fps, will it? Mine even doesn't (unless I'm on an empty platform), while it cost me EUR1500 excluding VAT. It's quite a bit faster than yours, especially the video card. That was one and a half years ago, but for a high end CPU you still pay ~$300 and a high end graphics card still costs $400 or more. I don't think you can buy a case, PS, motherboard, operating system, harddrive and all the small bits for the $100 that are left. You can wait for sales and get the number down a couple of 100 bucks, but that still leaves you without a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Now if either of us wanted the same specs, but on a mobile device, the price would go up some more. Anyway, the point wasn't the exact price for good hardware, it's the fact some people aren't willing to invest in hardware just to run SL. Your point appeared to be that one needed to invest $1500-$2000 for a PC just to run SL for 4 hours a week. THAT is what I was addressing, not how many fps a PC gets, which you later threw in.

  5. Thank you for the suggestion, Ash. I don't think making myself taller will be an issue. *Grins* ETA: I looked up KOT Stables in world and KOT on the MP and can't find anything by that name. Do you have a designer name perchance?

  9. Prior to adding my graphics card I ran my new desktop PC with the Intel integrated HD 4000 graphics for months and was very surprised and pleased with the performance...to the point of wondering how a graphics card could be any better...lol. I'm not really familiar with laptop performance in SL, but for the integrated graphics issue alone I think you would be fine.

Thanks everyone for your ideas and suggestions, hopefully this makes enuff of a difference I wont be freakin out at the cost of the VC..... 219.00.. (plus tax and shipping) which I suppose isnt too bad for a vc for what it does.. Luckly I have a power supply that can handle it.. Congrats!!! I upgraded my PSU from what came standard in my PC (585W) to a 600W (Corsair 80+ Bronze). All works together well. Welcome to Second Life and the Forums, Gyptian! It's been three years since Commander Bowman crafted that ship. He's built quite a few more since then. Check his profile Picks for a link to LaGrange Spaceport and give him a visit. Hippie also teachs building classes at Helping Haven. Learn to build your own spaceship! I've done it, though mine often needs a tow... LOL, Maddy! LOVE it!! ETA: I respond to forum posts as I come to them...thus I wrote my response prior to reading Hippie's subsequent response. Now I'm laughing that our initial responses were so similar. *Cue the Twilight Zone theme music*

  13. When I first rezzed into SL last night, for the first time in a loooong time (including dating back to when I still had my old PC that didn't see mesh), the clothes on my avatar (non-mesh) were gray for quite awhile and this was on my own parcel, 4000m up, with one other person on the entire sim. I tried Edit Appearance; didn't work...I gradually came back to normal. I'm wondering if something was up yesterday. (Doesn't address the OP's issue...just saw your response, Sassy, and being gray last night.)
  14. Lucky Winnfield wrote: Let me give my theory about why Second Life may be losing it, the major reason. It's been all about money and therefore all about commercialism. It should be like a 3D version of Facebook with 3D games and better interaction and the ability to use a name of your choice than a forced name. Maybe if everyone had a free "home" and they only charge money for extra features like they do for facebook. The problem too is that Second Life money can be exchanged back for actual money. In the casino game I play via facebook, you can buy chips with real money but not sell them for such. Otherwise all it seems is walking around looking at mostly ads and some nice 3D buildings. imagine if there were more connection with "first life" this could be the next big thing, or otherwise it fades away. put it this way, most of my friends have a facebook presence, and none of them are in Second Life. Errrmmm...did you forget M. Linden who basically attempted to turn SL into Facetwit and was probably the least popular of all the CEOs to date?????

Until your reply, I read Ricky's OP as having lost his "favorite bar" - as in one of his favorite place to visit. I was thinking that sucked to lose one's inventory and favorite hangout overnight. *Rubs eyes and cleans glasses* :matte-motes-bashful-cute:
  17. Just to add another option - you can have a Basic (free) account and rent mainland, or estate land for that matter but you were asking about owning mainland. I have lived on the same mainland sim for the majority of my time in SL. Part of that time I was Premium and owned (rented from LL) parcels; for the last three years or so I've had a Basic account and rent a parcel on the same sim from another resident.
  18. Amanda Dench wrote: Thanks for all your replies. I was using rechargable batteries until about 6 months ago because they just didn't last long (it was an old recharger!), but the main thing is that when the batteries go it is so fiddley to take the back of the Magic Mouse and I am really impatient. It was frustrating especially when in the middle of building something so i think wired is for me. Your suggestions have been great and I'm now going to get a logitec. Thanks and take care x Just checked to see what my mouse is and yep...it's a Logitech - a USB Optical Mouse; not sure of the model since I've had it a long time. Sounds like a good choice. :matte-motes-wink:
  19. I pulled my beloved AKK horse out of inventory and did a bit of riding yesterday. Since I purchased the horse in 2008 (Wow!! time flies in SL!!!) I was curious to see what the current AKK horses look like with the combination of the wonderful features AKK always put into upgrades plus the advent of mesh. I teleported over to what had always been a very busy sim and...saw that the latest update was apparently 2009. From looking at the profile of one of the creators I got the impression something had happened that stopped further updates sometime in the past. Since AKK was my go-to sim for horses I have no idea where to begin looking for a new horse. Would love to hear some suggestions. :)

In my head I saw myself already chasing hundreds of little meeroos or dogs out of my art gallerie! That message for sending to heaven could possibly make you feel guilty of having killed some cute, sweet and 100% loyal robo-dogs. How can you dare to do it twice? It weird what our brain does to us sometimes. Hey, they are just a lot of scripted pixels after all. While I was recounting my story The Sorcerer's Apprentice scene from the old Disney movie Fantasia came to mind, specifically when Mickey chops the broom up and all the pieces turn into more brooms. I haven't checked out your blog yet so not sure if that loooong story would fit into the comments section but will give a look later. And you're right...something about our brain, emotions, or some element therein connects us to pixels, or at least some of them. Hmmm, wonder if any of the researchers have studied that angle of virtual worlds. edit: clarification

No idea, as theres no way to delete the folders, unless you delete each calling card! maybe thats what she did lol AFAIK a calling card is automatically created when one adds a friend. I've heard prior to 2007 (when I started; don't know when exactly this was) the original idea of the calling card was one had the option to offer a calling card to someone if they didn't want to add them to their friend list. By the time I arrived this was no longer the case and the cards were automatically created when one friended a person. Interestingly, about a year or so ago I noticed two calling card folders in my inventory, one folder under the other, so when I friend someone I now get two calling cards for the person, but fortunately not all the multiples the OP has been getting. I just delete the duplicate but this now has me wondering if something changed with the calling cards.
  23. Would love to, although the ones that have been in inventory will take awhile to wake up again...lol.

In fact, the VKC Australian Shepherd was my very first purchase in SL, ahead of skin, hair, home and other common things one imagines that someone new might choose. I still enjoy my girl Pixel as much today as I did then because she is able to grow along with me as each of us learns new skills. Indeed, it is the VKC Pets that keep me coming back to SL after all these years. I remember Pixel! You helped me a lot in some of the first training classes I took, Rosanna. Learning what the VKC dogs could learn back in 2007 was awesome...almost 7 years later I continue to be amazed at the creativity Enrico builds into each pet. Although I now own some of the newer pets, my "first" VKC was my Chow, Aiko, and she is still one of my very favorites. I always wanted one of the Dobies but never got around to purchasing one so awhile back I went to the Rehoming Center and adopted an old Dobie, Rottweiler...ummmm, I think a few others as well. When the subject of "Does anyone use pathfinding" comes up occasionally on the forums (and I was not a fan of pathfinding), I thought (and sometimes posted) that VKC is the only place, to my knowledge, where pathfinding is used regularly. (I really need to come to the pathfinding classes...heh.) Does anyone know if pathfinding is used regularly anyplace else on the grid? I've never to the best of my knowledge seen a SIM where path finding is in use since its implementation. I did love my Australian Sheperd but he looks kind of old school now compared to the new puppies. I did go recently to look at getting a new puppy but was a bit surprised they had doubled in cost. When I commented on this the helper at the Park gave me a long explanation on how they were path finding enabled now and the benefits of no collisions on my SIM as the reason for the price. I guess if you own a lot of animals the collisions could be an issue but I doubt seriously if one or two of them are going to bring a SIM to its knees. Plus part of the fun to me was sometimes having to figure out where Gapskratter was hiding when I logged in. Never knew where he was going to turn up. If you're not still in the VKC group you might want to join, Perrie. VKC are updating the older dogs and the only way I know one has been updated is by the group notices. I would imagine they will get to the Australians. I "adopted" a few of the older dogs I had always wanted from their Rehoming Center (people who do not want their dogs/pets for whatever reason often give or sell them back to VKC and then they can be purchased at about half of their original price) and am looking forward to when they are updated. There is an update fee for this but the first week or so after a breed is updated the price is less than what is charged later. I've also seen some of the newer dogs in the Rehoming Center so you might want to check that out from time to time. They sell for less than the others of the same breed. As for the prices, years ago when we probably both bought our dogs the prices of each breed varied based on the popularity of the breed and as popularity fluctuated, so did the prices. The prices on some of the older breeds tended to drop a bit when a new breed was introduced. I have a notecard that talks about why the pricing was changed and can't recall the particulars at the moment, but the old pricing structure was changed so that all animals of a similar type (ie. dogs, cats, rabbits, etc.) are priced the same regardless of breed.
