(Bolding mine) I still have three duplicate listings of items with the empty box image. Fortunately the duplicates default to the main MP page but it still irks me to see those listings there, especially after being informed by CTL that they were all fixed.
  2. I agree with Venus that a ZHAO is, imo, the way to go. Not sure if the newer AOs that come pre-packaged (such as the Vistas) still use them, but if I do update my AO if they don't already come in a ZHAO I will pull the animations out and load them into one. It can seem confusing the first time you do it, mainly typing in the names of each animation in the right spot with the right "punctuation" but like Venus said, just take your time and read the instructions while looking at the default notecard that is probably already in the ZHAO - that helped me to look at how the default notecard was already set up. If you would like any help with that (I was tweaking mine this week) please feel free to IM me in world.

Hey Ceka! This isn't a response to the above quote per se, but kind of on topic. It is a response to your post awhile back when you mentioned always missing T-shirt day. *Grins* Greenzone was a response from some merchants who posted a sign in their shops that indicated to customers that they did not participate in Redzone annnndddd of course someone came out with...a T-shirt!!! It was the "All My Alts Belong to Me" shirt. Just sent that to you in world along with: *Just Ignore and Let This Die (The post that began one of the longest-running threads on the old RA forums, affectionately known as "The Undying Thread") *SL5B (The only SL birthday I attended; back when LL was still involved) *XGreed - I think that was when SL purchased XStreet *No Voice - Remember the brewhaha when voice was introduced to SL? There you go...all the T-shirts I snagged. Since you said you don't go in world often, I posted this here as well. (If anyone wants any of these shirts, please send an IM to me in world.)

Let them pile up so when Oz or Monty (who saw and reported them once) or CTL log in they are hit in the face with them. My current stance as well.
  5. I don't like the AOs that move all over the place either, which is why I've stayed with the AO I've had since 2007...lol. However, a friend was using one recently that I liked; the movements were natural and, while there was one that turned around a bit, not anywhere near many I see. I asked for the name and she said it is Vista Animations Elegant Woman. She did say that on one pose she stopped the movement.
  6. I checked out that group and, although it does say all are welcome in the group description, there is no join button showing up. I'm using Singularity Viewer in case that has any bearing on it; don't see why it should, but just in case. Wondering if this is a SL glitch or if one now needs to ask for an invitation?

Let me break down your arguments here, Mr. Chiwanga: You say that our world is a giant ugly shopping mall, and I beg to differ, sir/madam. Come with me on a boat ride through the rivers of Sansara that deepen into mountain canyons and tell me that's ugly. Or how about we go for a walk through the East River community, where people have banded together to build a beautiful, art-centered community where all are welcome to pursue their dreams and tell me that's just a shopping mall. Or how about we go for a swim through the Blake Deeps, a community built undersea wonderland, that pays tribute to the memory of Fancee Bebe, someone who has contributed quite a bit in her life to the SL community, and then tell me more about televisualized teats. Adding: Take a balloon tour of the Grand Canyon sim. Absolutely gorgeous with a lot of nature-filled areas where one can ski, swim, canoe, skate, etc. I agree - there are amazingly beautiful areas in SL that have nothing to do with shopping malls.

I find the thing that irks me MOST is the lack of African skins. Now, don't get these confused with the 'Well I started making a white person and tinted it dark that's close, right?' skins, because those hurt my eyes. I'm talking ones that actually take into account NOSE SHAPE and SHADING!! I think I've come across maybe three up-to-date skins that don't have a caucasian nose on a black skin. The Shops - old body co I think - have lovely dark tones, (however their separate skin/head thing makes for an ugly white neck line so I don't use their skins) that don't ignore the nose shape. I find it hard to make a decent looking black character who isn't overly muscled to the point of it looking painful, or ones with a decent body that then ignore the facial structure completely. I've also seen so many people who don't have any idea what a body even looks like and I just want to drop modify shapes on them and run away. I never had an issue with the sliders because I was used to the Sims and various RPG games. :B When I first started 6 1/2 years ago, there were few good African skins. One of my best friends in SL looked high and low for a good one, and ended up a very tan white girl...we (she and I) used to call her my racially ambiguous twin...lol! Thank you for your comments on your previous post, Aislin. I agree with this as well (and others who have posted about the difficulty in finding good African skins). Perhaps two sides of the same coin but when I began SL (which sounds like almost the same time as you - my rez date is May 1, 2007) THE predominant look, speaking human avatar, was "Caucasian Burnt Tanned" so trying to find something outside of that "norm" was difficult. Edit: grammar

As I noted in my posts, NOW there are a good variety of fair skins, but back in 2007, as I said, the ultra-tan look was the "it" thing. There were some designers who offered what they called "fair" or "pale" skin in 2007, but 99% of them had a yellow or orange tint or were pure white skins made for the Goth look. (I have some of those for certain rp events, but I didn't want to be a Goth 100% of the time.) If there were so many fair skins when I began SL *and* if they were popular, I wouldn't have had all the "get a tan" IMs. Fortunately those days are over.

I just want an avi thats looks good, like skin that doesnt look like a cartoon! How should we know whats cartoonish for you and what not or how you define a good looking avatar? Good point. Where avatar appearance is concerned it is truly an "eye of the beholder" thing. I've mentioned previously on the forums that when I first began SL in 2007 it was extremely difficult to find a fair skin, with the majority of avatars looking like they had spent way too much time (for *my* preference) in a tanning booth. I finally found a skin that I liked that wasn't too yellow or "Goth white" and wore it for the next three years. During that time I regularly had people in SL (a few friends plus a lot of complete strangers) telling me that I needed to spend more time in the sun, including one person who dropped an unsoliticed freebie tanned skin on me and sent an IM saying, "This skin will look better until you can afford a good skin"!!!!!!! I thought I looked good in my fair skin and didn't like the tanned skins; other people felt differently. Staying just within human avatars, shapes are all over the board - from the people who prefer the more "realistic" sized down shapes, to people who prefer to stay with the taller shapes due to the whole issue of SL furnishings being oversized (which is yet another entire topic...lol), to people who apparently think the frowny faces are attractive, or the "pony rider" wide angle legged avatars, to the whole lola deal. Then we get into non-human avatars. The point being, what type of avatar people think looks attractive can vary drastically so, imo, the important thing is to be pleased with one's own appearance. I'm sure there are some people who still think my avatar needs to spend more time in the sun, or not be as tall, or not have red hair, etc., etc. Red hair and fair skin rules :matte-motes-big-grin: Preach it, Sistah!!!
  12. There is no such thing as a "perfect avi" - some people who think they do (like some of the "fashionistas") look horrible...to me; and that is what is important - that you like how you look. As Dresden said, you look amazing for only 3 days in world. I enjoy Medieval looks as well and your outift looks great. The main thing for now is probably looking for a skin that you like and hair. Welcome to SL and enjoy. ETA: This is the Linden starter avatar I chose when I joined SL in 2007: Starter avatars have come a loooong way!!! Then I spent one entire day trying to make my avatar look *ahem* "better"; in my defense, this is before I stepped foot off Help Island and realized one could buy avatar items, clothes, etc. and had no idea there was anything such as "prims" and "flexis" and came up with this: I was going for a certain look for the rp I was into when I joined SL but ummm...well....do you feel better now? (Fortunately I didn't look this way long. Once I got into SL "proper" I was taken on a shopping trip by some members of my rp community and learned what an AO is, marveled at prim hair (flexi was still pretty new), the flexi skirts, etc. I searched a long time to find a skin I liked and within a month look good (to me)....for 2007. I have continued to tweak my avatar over the years but am still using a freebie shape I was given in 2007...and I probably still tweak it every few months or so.)
  13. JaedenDelanaire wrote: @Czari - Oh lawdy. I feel your pain over fair skins. There really is a ridiculous bias for tanned skins, though I've sort of seen that pass away since windlight and such. Now most people just have a nice little in between with a peachy tannish shade. I have a particular favorite from Ys&Ys (the pale Virginia) that I won't wear out in public areas where lighting is sure to be craptastic. It's one of those photo-op only skins, because the delicate features simply won't display properly unless it's the right environment. Which brand of fair skin did you use? Awww, thank you, Jaeden...that first year especially in SL was really annoying on the skin front having to fend off the "tanned skin" contingent. What I never got about that whole thing was why total strangers felt they had to let me know they didn't like my skin...lol. I would have never thought of IMing someone with a skin so tanned one could only see the whites of their eyes and warn them about the dangers of too much sun. *Chuckles* I, too, have noticed that many skin designers now include fair skins (usually several different levels of "fair") in their skin lines now alone with skins having become more realistic looking over the years. My first fair skin that I hunted high and low for in 2007 was a Gala Phoenix skin (same designer now owns Curio). The skin I wear now is from Belleza. I tweaked my own shape from a freebie skin I got in 2007 and the Gala Phoenix & Belleza skins, at least the particular ones I got, provide the look I want for my avatar. I have tried a lot of demo skins from other designers and have yet to find others that look like I want on my shape. On the other hand, there are a lot of skin designers I haven't tried yet. When I see someone in a fair skin that I like I ask where it is from and invariably it's from a place I've never heard of. I have a notecard of "skin stores to check out...someday." I didn't think about the lighting issue. My Belleza skin came with a card that gave the Windlight settings for it to look its best which is the setting I use in SL about 99% of the time...BUT...I have no earthly idea how the rest of SL is seeing me. Between the gazillion of Windlight settings, if someone is using low, medium, high, ultra-high settings for SL along with the various settings like Basic Shaders, etc., there is no way to ensure that *anyone* sees my avatar the way I see it. I pretty much gave up on that a long time ago and as long as my avatar looks good to me, on my PC, with my settings...I'll go with that...lol.
  14. Shamu077 wrote: This has nothing to do with increased popularity of breedables meaning more reports. I have been using the Drop command for 2 years every day, sometimes 100 times/day. I have never lost a kittycat up to about mid November, because Drop was greyed out AND the cat was NOT in inventory. Now, if I try to attach, the cat will not move to inventory about 1 in 5 times. It still attaches, but does not exist according to SL, since it is not in inventory and attached. In other words, from no problems using drop many times/day for 2 years, to a problem every 5 cats. That is a huge change - and why Kittycats is now saying do not use any command that will attach to your avatar until SL fixes this new problem. I'd have to agree that this is some new variation of the old bug, if not a new one altogether that (based on this thread) appears to be happening primarily to the KittyCatS breedables, unless it is happening to other breedables and has not yet made its way onto the forums. As I mentioned earlier, my BioBreeds dogs cannot be carried so I can't test it with one of them, but the Virtual Kennel Club (VKC) came out with a dog that could be held in 2007 (Bichon) and has since added many more small breeds that can be held in addition to the cats and rabbits added in the last couple of years. These are the instructions on picking up/holding/dropping or detaching the smaller pets taken from the VKC website (I just chose the rabbit as an example; the text is the same on all the pets that can be held): Say: mimz here This command tells the rabbit to jump into the arms of her owner. When an owner gives this command to the rabbit, the avatar bends down just in time to catch the rabbit as it leaps into the arms of its owner. The owner can then walk around, and even TP, while holding the rabbit. Only the owner may give this command and the owner must grant permission for the command to work. Permission: Before the "here" command will work, the owner of the rabbit must give permission to allow the rabbit to animate his avatar. To do this, use the following command: Say: Mimzy attach A menu will appear seeking permission to animate the avatar. Click "yes" to grant permission. The rabbit will remember this permission until it is revoked by the owner or until the rabbit has been to the VKC Clinic, so this usually is a one-time command. Once the rabbit has permission to animate the avatar, the owner only needs to use the command "here" to get the rabbit in his arms. Stop Carrying Rabbit: To stop carrying the rabbit, the owner should right-click on the rabbit and select drop from the menu. The rabbit will jump down to the ground. If you prefer, you may right-click on the rabbit and select detach from menu. In this case, the rabbit will appear in your inventory. (Bolding mine) VKC gives both the drop or detach options. I have used the drop option (including within the last week) quite often without a problem. If this was a big issue (speaking just for the VKC brand here), it would have been in chat and/or a notice put out by VKC, which is why I'm leaning towards KittyCatS having this issue atm for some reason. Now just why one type of SL pet is experiencing this and not others is a mystery, but I do agree it is something different than the drop bug of old...or maybe it morphed and became more targeted...definitely a mystery.

  16. Well said, Tiffy, and I add my voice to the others that have posted saying they do not like receiving spam. I, too, will leave a group if it gets too spammy and if I absolutely have to be in the group for some reason then I turn off group notices.
  17. I don't know if the "SL bug" would affect other types of pets besides breedables, but I have a VKC (Virtual Kennel Club) cat that I can pick up, hold, then "Drop" to detach it (meaning it stays in world, but I'm not holding him anymore) and I haven't had any issues with that at all. Don't blame you at all for being upset; I've seen the KittycatS but never owned any; I do have BioBreedable dogs, but they cannot be picked up so, yes, interactivity for me would be a big plus.

I have only been on FS for limited amounts of time here and there so I can't personally speak to a comparison but I can say that I really, REALLY like Singularity. A good number of my friends use/d FS and were regularly complaining about crashing, slow rezzing, etc. Granted a lot of that has to do with one's PC and ISP so that has to be factored in; however some of my friends switched to Singularity when I told them how much I was enjoying it and now use it as either their primary or secondary viewer of choice. It is considered a "lighter" viewer in that it doesn't put as much strain on one's PC. Even though FS can be run in Phoenix mode, which I tried, Singularity (imo) looks and performs much closer to Phoenix than FS in Phoenix mode.
