  1. Makes perfect sense. Thank you for setting me straight. And, in which case, I'm glad I said to check first... because, as you can plainly see, I really had no idea what I was talking about. I think I picked up that misinformation in another thread here once or a group chat or something. And having never created for another grid, never really checked into it. I'm glad I know better now, in case I ever do. Thanks... Dres
  2. The only text viewer I can find for Mac is SLiteChat. I haven't tried it and don't have Mac so I can't vouch for it. Plus it seems to be in beta. Hope this helps... Dres
  3. Maybe that's because your band is invisible. But seriously, why would you think someone automatically wouldn't like your music or live act? Give yourself and your listeners more credit. At least you're playing something original. Most performers in SL rely on covering other people's stuff, which in itself isn't bad (although, let's face it, sometimes it can be...lol). It's just refreshing to see someone putting out something new and different. If nothing else, it's great to have an outlet for your creativity. I've been a song writer/singer forever and though I've been in SL over two years now, I have yet to get up the nerve to play any shows. One of the biggest things that stops me is that I figure people want to hear people covering songs they already know, and that's just not what I do. This makes me feel like... well... why not just do it. And for that, I thank you. ...Dres
  4. Google Keiko Takamura and the Shebangs. Though I'm not sure how successful they are atm, as I don't follow them. But, I do know Keiko got her start preforming in SL to get over her stage fright. She was in a MTV documentary about it. I also know they've since released an EP and a video. Oh, here's her blog. ...Dres
  5. I just did a quick search on MP and found this creator. They sell skin packs that have different lips textures and don't seem to have restrictions. You might want to check with the creator first if you're concerned. Though, to my knowledge, if a creator wants to put restrictions on their full perm items such as this, they'd have to state that before you purchase their product. A note card or statement telling you this, after the fact, won't cut it. But even so, I'd check first, because if they wanted to file a DMCA on you, they could still cause you a lot of trouble. Hope this helps... Dres
  6. Lol... understandable. for posting it though ... I will certainly try it when I feel like taking on another project. :smileyhappy: ...Dres

  9. It's actually a great browser. When I couldn't do it in Firefox I tried in IE and couldn't do it either. In fact I just tried it again to see and I still can't... I keep getting an error and nothing even pops up. I'm not concerned about that because I don't use it. At least with Firefox the fix was pretty easy. I wouldn't even know what to do for IE. The add-ons for this forum alone are enough to make it worth using. The Blue Goo theme and the ability to use the default browser spell check in the rich text window are two things I would not want to have to do without. :smileyhappy: ...Dres
  10. The first thing I would do is a clean viewer install. That includes wiping all traces of it off your system and downloading it again. Make sure you save your log files if you want to keep them. Also, refresh your modem and router if you have one and maybe do a speed test on your internet connection. It can't hurt. Hope this helps... Dres
  11. For some reason I can't unload pictures to the forums all of a sudden. This is what it looks like when I try. I use Firefox and this started happening the other day after I installed some plug-ins. I've tried disabling them; I've tried uninstalling them; I've updated Java... nothing works. Hopefully, someone can help. Thanks... Dres ETA: Never mind... I did a restore with Mozbackup and it's working now.
  12. It's amazing how much better this makes things. And it's good to know someone is listening to what their customers want and working to implement it. What remains to be seen is if this will translate to LL as a whole. I certainly hope so. ...Dres
  13. Roche Runo wrote: dres my conversation is in the general not specific I took your comment about "if I have a complaint I should be able to voice it" as mean you though i meant your should be silenced And you did say correct me if I am wrong "I have invested lots in Second life, I support them" I took that to mean you have spend a lot of money on using there program. And while yes many people know what the money is for they act like they are equal partners in the company. But many people don't and they get the wrong idea from posters who treat the program as if is it theirs. I know you were extremely agitated which is why i didnt take offense to your comments about it being my job and if i didnt like it get another job lol I hope you understand now that it was not the complaining I was refering it was the way it was being done. I'm glad you weren't offended... that was never my intention. Maybe I worded it a bit more strongly then I wanted to *reminds himself to refrain from posting after doing shots of mamajuana*. From your statements, I gathered that you think people shouldn't complain about things because it does no good and they should just live with it. I strongly disagree with that. Sure a few people complaining about something won't do much good, but if their concerns are legitimate that might alert more people about the situation. Then, as more and more people started voicing the same concerns, there will come a point that something will have to be done about it. Take for example the Red Zone fiasco. Nothing would have gotten done if the people who first complained about it had instead decided to just deal with it and keep it to themselves. ...Dres

  17. I have to assume, since you IMed me suggested we finish the conversation that was started elsewhere, here, in the off topic forum, that you have directing this post at me. If I'm wrong, sorry... if not then, okay... I'll take this point by point: Roche Runo wrote: I got of topic in another thread and opened my yap about how certain people should not treat the staff of linden labs as nasty as there are. Another member questioned why I wanted to silence these disenters. I never thought of your post there as being off topic, but if you insist... I never suggested you were trying to "silence" anyone. Roche Runo also wrote: I pointed out that I didn't want to silence them on that the method is which they make their complaint known was derogatory to the staff and the company that makes the game possible. The other member felt people that invest and support linden labs by paying real life money should be allowed to complain in any manner they see fit. You made a vague reference to "some people" that I didn't understand. My main point, though I did make others, was about your conception that these forums are lenient in their moderation. I never ever said that people "paying real life money should be allowed to complain in any manner they see fit". That would be absurd. Of course, there are going to be b1tchy people no matter what; and the more you p1ss your customers off the b1tchier they will get (reference Darrius' post). Roche Runo also wrote: I respond by saying the money you are paying is moot. You pay for special privileged not given to the free members not for a perfect game. I then stated that big companies would love to give customers but they will do according to there business practices and not on the demands of the customer. And while they want to please you if they can't you are free to take you money else well as they have more customers join. How very dismissive of you. I know very well what I'm paying tier for and I know even more well the extent to which SL is not perfect. My stating that I pay for tier was really only to b1tch about my sim being messed up... I'm really p1ssed off about it. I do see how someone might take it as me playing the "I'm a paying member" card... that was never my intention. Everyone, whether they pay tier or buy stuff from other people that pay tier, are equal as far as I'm concerned. And each and every one has the right to express their opinion about the platform and the direction in which it is going... that was my point. Roche Runo also wrote: To continue: No... I don't want to continue. Tbh, it was tl,dr. ...Dres PS I wish I could have put it as succinctly as Darrius did.
  18. Darrius Gothly wrote: If you take a single "complaint" post out of context, yes the language seems overly harsh, the sentiment seems overly emotional .. and the feeling you get is one of mild to elevated disgust that someone could say such things "in public". But when you spend days, weeks and months on these forums ... and when you read day after day the same problems, the same issues and the same complaints .. from the same people .. about REAL issues that get ignored, dismissed or worse .. the intensity and vitriol laced into those "complaint" posts makes sense. People here are not being unreasonable on first blush .. they are people that have grown more and more frustrated and are reaching levels of anger that reflects itself in their words. Justified anger. If a customer of ANY retail store or corporation walked into their location every day and cited the same complaints as people here have expressed .. after a month of getting no response they would be well within their rights to begin bringing hammers, big mean friends and picketing on the front walk. If anything, the restraint shown by many with valid, costly and at times "fatal" (in the SL sense) issues is admirable. IMO. ...Dres

  21. Is there any place in SL that caters to gay men and plays country music? I've been to many places that play country and are very welcoming to the glbt community, but none that specialize in playing country with an emphasis on gay men. If anyone knows of one I'd really appreciate it if you send me in their direction. Thanks... Dres

  23. I used to have my home page set to my dashboard, just because of the recent posts section. That's what brought me to the forums in the first place. I would probably never have started being a participant if it weren't for that. Now that that doesn't appear on my dashboard, I only ever go there to see who's online before I sign in (if I even feel that is necessary, which isn't often). I love SLU, so I usually start there. And the SL Offworld Forum is nice, though not as active. I could see that becoming the next generation SLU. Then I come here. I still enjoy it here, though it took a while to get used to the new format. The one thing I do differently now is that I have my preferences set to subscribe me to any thread I've posted on. Otherwise, I find it hard to keep up with them. I wish there was a way to over look the new posts for the whole forum instead of just the new threads. I'd like to know what discussions are going on right now, across the board, without having to go into each subsection or having to jump over to SLA separately. I just created a Twitter account last week and I still haven't gotten the hang of it. I don't understand how to follow the flow of conversation there yet. So it's kind of frustrating for me, but I'll give it time. I have yet to tweet anything, but no one follows me anyway, so what's the point... lol. ...Dres
