I've been addicted to SL since the first day my first avatar arrived back in June of 2009. I've done lots of the things that the others before me have posted like shopping, exploring, building, decorating, dancing, chatting. These days I host at a blues club on Saturday nights. I love the music there and the friends I've made. I've never been away from SL for more than a couple of weeks on vacation in the RL ap. RL has better graphics but the transportation system sucks. I like the people in SL better than the people that live near me. I love the conversations best of all I think. I made alts as a hobby. This avatar was my first alt that I made when I was one month old. I made her to do the things that scared me. Eventually I found that not being scared was more fun than being scared. My first av had her heart broken and left SL, but I never left. I just took over being the main av. Total immersion in SL can be as unpredictable and painful as RL so I no longer do the total immersion experience anymore. I'm more of an augmentationalist now. I have shared RL details with a few trusted friends and even met some in RL. I play a turn based game in SL called tiny empires(TE) where I am a princess in the Kingdom of Rebels. It's the kind of game where you can do as much or as little as you like and I'm just a dabbler these days. I like that my alts can have a role in TE, seemed a shame to keep them in a folder on my computer doing nothing after the first few months of creation. Now they are my minions and they are working on achieving prince/princess status SL can be anything you want it to be. A social venue, a creative outlet, a therapeutic exercise, a way to live out your fantasies....

IIRC the rule at a popular newbie place I frequented many years ago was that sex attachments were forbidden even when hidden due to the fact that the place had a sandbox and builders frequently had the show hidden option on to see what they were working on. They didn't want to see the sex attachments so the rule was put in place. It caused drama whenever it was enforced because people who always wear their privates felt traumatized when asked to detach.

I agree about mansplaining yes, but manspreading? man + spreading = manspreading Manspreading is not a blended word it is a compound word.

I have to put in my 2 cents and add that the tone, civility etc of the forum is vastly improved since the days when my first av used to dabble here. Ya'll might get a tad bit contentious now and then but seems like most of the trolls have gone to greener pastures.

ok, I have not been posting here much and so maybe I'm a little behind the times. But what is so terrible about necro-posting? I've enjoyed all of these necro threads that have sprung up recently.... There are plenty of asked and answered questions out there that could possibly benefit someone who hasn't seen it before. It's not like this forum is so terribly busy with new and exciting topics.

you can lock your house in the edit mode and that will stop you from accidentally deleting it. it's not permanent, you can always unlock it again if you need to move it

I know the difference honest! But my fingers don't. They are always anticipating what I'm trying to type and getting it wrong. They also like to race each other to the end of the word and mix up the order of the letters accordingly.

Today I learned that runcible was once a nonsense word. At the time Lear made it up it had no meaning. But over time it came to be understood that runcible meant a serrated edge as in the runcible spoon, it refers to a specialty spoon with a serrated edge, useful for consuming such things as grapefruits.

I've been incinerating people in SL since the day I discovered fire, some more than once. I get great pleasure out of doing it. There has been no uprising against me... yet. I have good reason to believe that every one of my flaming victims... Some more than once? What about me? Did you even burn me? or just that other av I used to use?

It's just lag. I saw it too around the holidays at parties that were way crowded. Now that the holiday peak is over, it's stopped. Don't do anything. Just wait and it will go back to normal.

what you can do is abandon the linden home and then you have 512 free to put towards your tier on some land where you have more freedom... to build what you like... terraform as you please... use as a home or a store or whatever you like.

I did not notice any particularly guilt ridden replies to your accusations of wrongdoing for something you seem to have second hand knowlege of that happened some time ago.... You say only came to applaud the new version of sl and what you imagine it could be, but it seems more like you came to stir up feelings and didn't succeed very well. About the banning. Am I correct in assuming you have some first hand experience in being banned? No wonder you'd like to see effective banning tools taken away.

How do you suppose the tier for a role play sim is paid? LL does not give their sims away for free you know. But oh! the annoyance of having to walk by shops before you get to where you're going, the pain, the agony! How would you like to see the tier paid, would you want to pay a fee to get in the sim instead?

to the op, I feel your pain. i love Beleeza skin but I hate their lack of interest in making their skin compatible with other products. I finally had to dump them. I had an older skin that I really liked and they didn't provide any support for it. Then I couldn't find a newer one that looked as good on me. It's really too bad.

Mobiles? That's two syllables, we say cell as in cellular phone.

I'm an alt. My main was thinking about committing avicide too. Of course she knows better than to actually delete her account, but she's been slowly withdrawing from everyone and everything she used to do. She has unchecked the eye on all her friends, so no one can see her online anymore. She doesn't want to talk, she doesn't want to explain, she's just heartbroken and she doesn't want to play right now. The only thing she signs in to do is give money and landmarks to her alts. I don't know how long this state of affairs will last, it's a first for us. But I can't complain either, it's the first time I've been out to play in a real long time.
