  1. I am not a scripter but I know what you are suggesting is incorrect and impossible. UUIDs are not the same for copies as originals even with copybotted items. You cant 'have a UUID change' You cant configure a UUID via chat command and even if you could how would the user know when to do it? Sorry this has ended up a battle rather than some advice, but I will say again, this cannot be achieved with LSL alone
  2. Ok but how will the master prim talk to the all the duplicate prims around the grid without using the web?
  3. This would require more than just inworld scripts, you would need to address a web server, and I think I am right in saying the object itself would have to be replaced as part of the update, i.e. object contacts server to check for update, if update is available new version is sent to the object owner, old version kills itself. Depends on the application but it might be easier to have no contents in the object and just have it operate like a vendor, where it contacts an inworld server via the web and the inworld server sends the item Either way you won't do it with LSL alone.
  4. I reached the same conclusions as Toy, or to put it another way... I agree with Toy!!! - Not often I say that. Generally I need the money fast and there usually isnt much money to be made by trying to play the market. I also have a Paypal Debit Card and it is soooo useful if like me you often need your money in a hurry.
  5. That is interesting. I have often wondered how effective these Facebook campaigns are for companies. I thought the other day it had all got a bit silly when I saw a TV advert for Cuprinol (A creasote type of fence paint) which invited me to their Facebook Page.
  6. Charolotte Caxton wrote: Live chat's purpose is to direct you to file a support ticket, read the knowledge base, or anything other than use live chat. Lol so true, I have always been intensely annoyed by the fact that LL tout this as some sort of advantage in having a premium account, every time I have contacted them I have been told to raise a ticket, it's unlikely I would even bother to use the service again, its a pointless waste of time. The only time you are likely to use Live Chat is to solve some frustrating problem, all Live Chat does is to slow down the resolution of that problem as you waste your time talking to them and further frustrate you. The support ticket system isn't much better, I recently contacted them to get my cash out limit raised, you would think I had asked for Rodviks credit card details they were so difficult about it, they said I hadnt earned enough L$s to qualify for a higher limit and to try again the following month, I wrote back and pointed out that I have easily exceeded their limit, and the rseponse was exactly the same email back, I write again pointing out again that they had made a mistake and that it was very rude to keep sending the same email and in response - yes - you guessed it - the same email back again. I wrote again and asked for the CSRs boss, he forwarded the email to her, she said he hadnt made a mistake he just 'couldnt see' my account transactions, and she again told me they would review it the following month. I gave up at that stage and I just use Virwox now, I will never ever cash out on the lindex again. So if any Lindens are reading this you should take heed, its all very well slapping banner ads all over the internet to gain new business, you already had my business and lost it because the people you employ to face customers are totally disprespectful and arrogant.
  7. I think we need much more clarity/publicity on the exchange rate in general. I have always believed that L$s are quite deceptive, many residents and even merchants will talk in L$s but they think in $USDs and mentally assign a much greater value to their L$s than the reality. In the past I even suggested getting rid of L$s all together and replacing them with USDs but the idea wasn't popular. Now I think we should replace L$s with €s since the € will soon have the same value as the L$ :smileywink:
  8. I agree with others, I would really like to see the whole thing work more smoothly. I do appreciate this gesture though, it's a nice surprise and a pretty unusual gesture from LL, but if you think about it it's not just unusual for LL, these days corporations rarely admit to their mistakes and paying any kind of compensation for those mistakes is practically unheard of, so nice one LL. No need to increase commissions though to pay for extra development, just bring back banner advertsing that will easily cover the cost of a couple of developers.
  9. This thread ISNT about delivery issues, there are several threads for that already, many people, including myself have moaned and groaned about that (quite rightly), here I wanted to tackle something different. This was my 4th Valentines Day in SL, because I have been working on big projects I havent added any new items to my range for a couple of years, and yet this was by far the best Valentines Day for sales I have had, I am a good 30% up on last year. The economic statistics from Q3 (not that any of you guys believe them - right) show the same very slow decline in concurrency and deployed regions as we have had for the last 3 years, so what is going on? is it just me that did well because the world has finally realised how cool me and my stuff are or were any of you guys notably 'up' too?
  10. I am pretty sure all mine have been paid now, I have someone going through all the orders to check for sure, I didn't have to raise a ticket. Although this is a massive **bleep** up that I would rather have avoided, and I do feel sorry for 192 of my customers who received their items too late, in the end I think I have probaly gained from this, because quite a number of customers bought stuff twice - so every cloud... :matte-motes-big-grin-wink: GRRRR! while I am here I see the stupid spam filter has seen fit to edit my post for me lest you are all offended by the word which describes a male bird, yes you know, begins with a C and rhymes with mock. I dont suppose anyone will read it but this is where the phrase comes from... The British expression 'c0ck-up' isn't commonly used in the USA, where it is generally assumed to have a vulgar meaning. What they might make of Robert Burns' poem, which took the name of the old Scottish rhyme 'C0ck up your beaver', is best left to the imagination. What Burns was actually referring to was adorning a beaver fur hat by putting a c0ck's feather into it. 'C0ck', in the sense of this term, means 'stand up conspicuously', 'turn up at the edge', 'bend at an angle' etc. This is the sense of the early usage of the term 'c0ck-up', in the terms '**bleep**-up one's ears', 'c0ck-up one's nose'. In the 17th and 18th centuries people were also often advised to 'c0ck-up' their bonnets, eyes, even legs. The expression 'c0ck a snook' also derives from that same sense of 'c0ck'.
  11. Yup I think this does what you want TV Studio Camera HUD check it out on Youtube here :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  12. I have to say how very impolite people in this thread have been. The OP made a perfectly legitimate post, the only replies here should be people saying "sounds interesting - see you inworld", or perhaps some constructive comments. If you personally don't happen to like the idea or you don't think it will be successful, its extremely bad form and very impolite to voice such opinions in an Inworld Employment Forum, the OP didn't invite such comments, no one who has replied appears to know him personally or have details of any of his plans and yet you all seem to know he is a griefer who is doomed to failure. This is the Commerce section of the forums, it is for people who are doing business, if you arent interested in doing this particular piece of business, keep your fingers off the keyboard and move on. Doing business here is hard enough, we don't deliberately and gratuitously try and mess each other up.
  13. Dude - TLDR!!!! I find Google docs really useful for collaboration, mostly the word processor but also spreadsheets etc.
  14. Not sure how long this thread will survive. I am also not American and if I was I wouldn't be a Republican, but I would vote for Ron Paul, i think he talks a lot of sense and doesn't seem to be so bogged down with religious beliefs as the other candidates, but most of all I like him because he at least seems like a genuine guy, his delivery is so natural you can tell he has thought about stuff, arrived at logical conclusions and from this formed a political ideology. The other candidates just seem to spout carefully prepared soundbites which are based on their statistical appeal rather than true political belief followed by their devout god bothering nonsense.
  15. From your general tone I am sure I would like to have an argument with you, if only I had any idea what you were saying
  16. Yes and No. There are tools to back up inventory but they will only allow you to back up items which you are the creator of, so not much good if you want to protect items you have purchased.
  17. If the copied items are available inworld or on the Marketplace you should definitely file a DMCA notice, you may well have to do this repeatedly, but its the only way you have any chance of stopping the things proliferating and it sends a message to the culprits that they are being watched and there are rules. You could also try dropping a legally threatening note to whoever is responsible, I did this when my stuff was copied and the thief ignored it, I then had the note translated to German (thiefs native language) and the offending items were removed from the marketplace within 5 minutes of the note being received. I think some copiers at least operate on the basis that they can do what they like as long as they can use the defence of ignorance.
  18. Ariel Vuissent wrote: It's not an uncommon occurence for content creators to remove products on the marketplace, then relist, in order to dump any negative reviews. Just wanted to remind everyone that although it may not be uncommon, it is against the rules... SECOND LIFE MARKETPLACE FEE AND LISTING POLICIES Disabling and Re-listing Items. This is considered misrepresentation.
  19. I agree they are a bit late, 3 weeks now behind the Q3 results. Sadly, a few places I advise were hoping to see them before deciding to remain in SL or close. Without the information, the opted to close. I think this is the most unlikely thing I have ever read in these forums, you do the business community (which you claim to advise) no favours at all by posting such nonsense.
  20. If you google this error you will see there are loads of people with it and just about as many different fixes, I think I would start by unistalling your ATI graphics software using add and remove programs, that seems to have worked for a number of people.
  21. The pose balls will position themselves according to the position and orientation of the root prim so you may be able to alter that or add an invisble prim to use as a root that you can then re-orient and reposition so the poses makes sense, however I think if this works you will be lucky, in my experience its always been a case of going through each pose and setting and saving the positions, its adviseable to do this with an Alt : )
  22. I would like to say a massive thank you to Zanara for the excellent work she put in on this. Great Job ! Also Sassy and Darrius who proverbally banged Linden heads together with their comments in the Jira yesterday. What are we targetting next?
  23. The easiest way to find out is to paste this to a notepad, then clear your listing and add back just the first paragraph, set the maturity and save, if it sticks that paragraph is clear. Continue paragraph by paragraph until it alters the maturity rating when you save, then use the same technique to home in on the line and word. Doesn't usually take long to find it : )
  24. Yes, I am currently part of a Beta for a system just as you have described, I am not sure if I should give details publicly yet so I will link the creator to this thread and if he wants to blow his trumpet he can, or drop me an IM and I will tell you more
