As others have said, if you dont have a record of this, the customers only option is to raise a ticket and let LL sort it out.
  2. I think you perhaps need to choose your words slightly more carefully, as an old timer who knows whats possible here I wouldn't be confused by this, but I can see how someone with less experience might. The phrase which leads to confusion for me is 'a fully functional laptop' , A fully functional laptop is just that, a laptop with the full set of functions you would expect from a laptop and although this is very functional I think its a bit misleading to call it fully functional. A better approach might be to say something along the lines of, this isn't just another 3D Model of a laptop, I've packed it with functions to make it as useful as a real one. Then you are still bigging it up, but it's clear it's like a real one and not actually a real one. I would also question your use of the Windows 7 Logo, this suggests the product uses Windows 7, and almost certainly breeches Microsoft's Trademark rules. Apart from this I don't think you are exagerating, and it certainly looks like a good product : )
  3. Several people seem to have experienced DNS issues in the last few days, so you might want to try redirecting it http://code.google.com/intl/fr/speed/public-dns/
  4. I had a DNS issue at the weekend, after much messing around we now believe the issue is with our ISP - Virgin Media, would be interesting to know if you have the same ISP ?
  5. Agreed, if DJing is something you already know a bit about, concentrate on that and as Sassy says you should easily reach your goal, I have seen DJs walk away with more than that in tips from a single performance. I have to say I am surprised at some of the responses here, I don't think that your goal is unrealistic or unachievable, although it might take a few weeks to build up to. I would agree though that sometimes the easiest route is just to buy the L$s and adjust RL finances accordingly, but wheres the fun in that!?
  6. Commerce Linden posted this in another thread... There is currently a bug when creating a classified from the Search Window. (WEB-4229) This will be fixed in the next Viewer Beta. The workaround is to create a classified from the Picks window. You may need to add "Picks" to one of your toolbars. To then create a classified, click the "+" at the bottom of the Picks window. Hope it helps
  7. Pamela Galli wrote: I sure as hell would have a problem with it. This person is trying to gain from the hard work of others by ripping off their brands. I can only think of one reason someone would be so desperate as to do this rather than stand on the quality of his own work. I agree absolutely, I am constantly a victim of this in the inworld classified, where another merchant insists on placing ads that are clearly designed to look like my own. As Pam points out this is an attempt to gain from the hard work of others which is clearly wrong but I think this is a massive mistake for another reason. Building a brand should be part of your overall marketing strategy, thats how the names you are hijacking became names, if your strategy is to ride on the backs of other brands you cannot possibly be establishing your own brand and consequently you are destined to remain unrecognised. By all means look to these big players, and try to emulate their quality and range, learn from their branding and marketing strategies, but devote all your efforts into establishing yourself rather than re advertisng them. They may be big and very popular, but not everyone is looking for a really popular skin and not everyone can afford those high prices especially early on which is when many purchase a skin. Figure out your USPs (unique selling points), remember the big players can't compete with you on everything, they can't offer the same level of exclusivity that you can, because they sell to 1000s of customers a week, they cant offer the customer service that you can because they dont have time, 200k per week may put them first in search but its also forces up their overheads allowing you to compete on price. Perhaps present yourself as 'The local skinsmith' carefully crafting unique designs, this will be far more appealing to many than those big swish stores. Make sure every item you sell features your brand name in the package name, so customers will see it everytime they go to inventory, put it on your packaging and in your listings, advertise, sponsor events, run competitions, put YOUR name out there and keep putting it out there.
  8. Just spotted this, so I just had to pop back here and tell ya.... Loch Ness Monster Hunt
  9. I have lots of nice Christmas Trees at my place, I have some low prim ones and The Ultimate Christmas Tree which has millions of decoration and colour combinations and is very bushy and 3D. Although I like the one depicted above, like almost every Christmas Tree in Second Life, it's made according to a popular misconception. If I ask you to draw a Christmas Tree you will probably start at the top draw a curve out and down and then a shorter curve back in again and repeat this getting progressively larger towards the bottom, this is how we all learn to draw Christmas Trees in School and consequently we all think this is what they look like. Look at images of Christmas Trees, you will notice that the branches do not slope down but in fact slope up or sometimes grow at right angles to the trunk, with the sloping up more pronounced towards the top, so if you want a tree thats actually the right way up, you are probably gonna have to buy mine : )
  10. Hi and welcome, I can't think of anywhere but it's not really my field, I just thought if you decided to set something up yourself, my English friends and I would be happy to come and crush you rebellious Scotts on a regular basis. P.S. will there be any oil we can steal?, we are really skint right now.
  11. Cinnamon Mistwood wrote: Wow! That is almost the exact same script I heard when I contacted Live Support for a completely unrelated topic. They also didn't answer my question. I got a response and solution faster from a friend on SLums. I was then able to pass the answer to Live Support for the next time that issue came up. Somehow, that seems a little backwards. Just to try and return this to the more central topic... Yup and me, almost exactly the same script for another issue and its been the same every time I use the service. This is supposed to be one of the perks of being premium and yet without fail they tell you to raise a ticket. I would like to hear from anyone who has actually had an issue fixed via live chat, anyone?, anyone at all?

And yes the "create classified" in search window is not working. You know...It's just ridiculous that it has to be THIS hard to create a freakin classified! And then to have to use an OLDER version viewer to FINALLY get it done. /me shakes his head in disgust I agree entirely, this is us trying to give LL money, in classified fees and commissions, it should be very, very easy.
  13. Sigh! - Takes me right back to when I had big hair and got laid a lot. Cool mix Dude!
  14. The down and dirty way to do this would be to use prims to mark the corners of your view, it won't be truly exact but close enough especailly if you dont orbit the camera while you are making changes between frames. Excuse the shameless plug but you could buy my TV Studio Camera HUD this will save your exact camera position, and you can dump it out to a note so you can come back to it later if you need to.
  15. Yeah there is a place to turn it off (or back on again), Cntrl Alt D to enable 'advanced menu' 'Rendering' Make sure there is a cross next to 'animate textures'

BTW: I have never had an in-world store. So far, I have never wanted one either. On the whole, SLM sells OK by itself, in spite of how its management and continued development have been handled by LL. However its worth remembering that a folder can be created by right clicking in your inventory and selecting 'New Folder'. So maybe not too much to worry about for most of us.

  19. You didn't mention if you had tried to contact the merchant, it may well be a scam, but this wouldn't be the first time a merchant has mistakenly sold an empty box

  21. An interesting, but all too familiar story, what is it with programmers? why are they always so difficult? Why don't they ever seem to care about the cash?. Good Luck HiRez I hope you find the right person.

Time to stop downloading pictures, sticking them on prims, giving them away and calling it a business? ;p (If you read up you'll see that 4k is the total limit of items delivered for one product listing.) LOL beat me to it I think if people actually read the information provided carefully instead of giving it a quick scan and then complaining about what you think you just read it would make a lot more sense. It's almost like some posters are trying their very best to be as confused as possible
  24. I think the problem is that this isn't the best time to be creating this project. Everyone and his dog is trying to make a breedable pet these days and if you so much as mention the idea to a scripter most will either run away or start quoting you prices of thousands of US dollars. I am not saying that they dont deserve thousands of dollars, but for most of us that are doing the paying this represents too big a risk. Even though this isn't planned to be a breedable, much of the inworld functionality is similar, getting those stats to run smoothly and the food to work correctly and reliably in a variety of sim conditions is quite a challenge and consequently anyone tackling it is going to want rewarding for their efforts. I have only glanced at the XS breeding scripts, but I know there was a seperate one in there for food so I am surprised you have been told these arent useful to you, it might be worth taking a good look yourself or getting a second opinion. My thoughts are though, that you are going to need to hire a scripter at some point to tie all this stuff together and it may be better and ultimately cheaper to do this sooner rather than later. This forum , the Employment forum and Professional Scripters Market inworld group might be of use to you, but be advised generally speaking scripters do not like big jobs and in my experience only about 20% will actually deliver, take this into account when they start demanding massive deposits. Before you spend your hard earned cash consider carefully how the pet markets work in SL, what is the target demographic?, what drives breeders to buy food?, how does the Secondary market work and affect creators?, is there a mechanic in your game to incentivise food sales? Does your prim count allow the average user to keep multiple copies rezzed?. These things may seem obvious but they clearly wern't fully considered by some creators who have released pets (I include myself in this) and its a great shame when one can see the effort that has gone into the more traditional aspects of creation and at the same time know that early failure of the product is an economic certainty. I wish you the best of luck, its always good to see a creator with balls tackling something challenging, don't expect an easy ride and don't give up!.
  25. I think if someone advertises for an experienced scripter they expect them to have a reasonable knowledge of all aspects of scripting or sufficient confidence to tackle any aspect they havent tackled before. I have advertised many times for scripters and it always surprises me when I get a guy who tells me he can do everything except vehicles or everything except weapons. If you are genuinly experienced and confident enough to take on contract work, you should be able to take on pretty much anything where the programming remains inworld, IMHO.
