  2. it's safe to list - whether the item will be found by anyone looking or you'll ever sell it and get paid for it is another matter all together. Go on, list and be damned! show them that you're not afraid of them, you have nothing to fear except fear itself. I've run out of platitudes now and also suspect that this new low for the marketplace is going to be as good as it gets.

  4. Dartagan Shepherd wrote: The naked truth, mesh has better control over Level Of Depravity. Edited to say sorry Couldbe, did take you seriously, realized that this comment might be guilty of the very thing you were talking about in not being taken seriously. These things come out faster than I can hit the cancel button sometimes. Foot in mouth. lol I did like the response and I learnt a long time ago that dignity and sl do not go hand in hand, so there's no apology necessary. and it's a good mesh selling soundbite. If you can't control your depravity, use mesh!
  5. Toysoldier Thor wrote: like the majority of SL Residents, I tried and hated and never returned to LL V2 back in 2010. I am and will be a loyal Phoenix and eventually Firestorm user. So when you walk by the club in your cool Meshed clothing and hair - until firestorm supports Mesh effectively and is a mainstream viewer to replace phoenix, you will be an invisible avatar to me (and the major of SL residents that do not use LL Viewers) well, at least they're not naked. I don't know how many times I got caught out because I was wearing a sculptie top and nothing underneath when that invisible sculptie at certain distances bug was around. I learnt but not before the occasional embarassment here and there (it's hard to be taken seriously when you're growling at someone and they're making cracks about your boobies.. sigh)
  6. I'm not the one to ask about mesh or sculpties. I think sculpties were a poor technical solution that in the long run caused more grief than not (how about that for putting the cat amongst the pigeons? ) As for mesh, I decided a couple of years ago that I wasn't going to learn it as the cost/benefit didn't look attractive. Also I didn't expect sl to still be going by now! My mesh experience so far has been finally getting around to creating and texturing a door knob (it did start out to be a light bulb but that turned out to be too tricky) and once it came to the bit about having to optimise it for sl I decided that I wasn't that interested after all. So I don't really have a stake in this particular little adventure but I do know demand when I see it and there's a buzz around mesh atm.
  7. the meshanistas have though.. and there seems to be a lot of early adopters around and a lot of them are at least trying, if not buying whatever is currently out there. Whatever the proportion though, it is going to increase and it is time for you to hit your modeller software of choice to start building a collection. Even if you only create the models and wait until later to optimise for sl and bring them in at least you're on your way. They're not going to back it out and it is going to get more popular. Just relax and try to enjoy the pain Toy and everything will be fine
  8. You misunderstood the point, which is reasonable since you aren't aware of the background to the comment. That comment related to the last couple of adult user group meetings and only makes sense within that context. So it's not a relevant point in the overall discussion about communication to the wider SL audience.
  9. josh, it really is incompetence. There's no conspiracy, they really are this bad at IT, client communication and the rest and of course I'm sure they'll be going home to start their weekend soon. moving back on topic, the number of listed items on the storefront (274) seems to have changed but I can't tell what's missing. In my listed items in the store management, I have a number of duplicates (around 23 or approx 10% of what is listed on the storefront so far). Whether it's growing or not I can't tell yet. there also doesn't seem to be any pattern to what has been duplicated, some are old items some are recent. They seem to have fixed the website information (if only they'd managed to put the item name back in as well, I would have been well pleased), ANS seems to be working from all accounts so apart from this growth of duplicates that are going to consume the website and grind it to a halt and that little problem of the users linden balance not being correct on the slm site it all seems to be going swimmingly. for a ship that's severely holed and listing. you just wait until DD is released properly. I'm betting this will look trivial in comparison lol. edit: and I did a listing today and it is on the website but interestingly it appears on both the listed and the unlisted lists in the inventory management. usually it will stay on the unlisted when first listed but within a few minutes is moved to the listed.
  10. LL don't do communication, remember? and I assume you've seen this.. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/New-Adult-Content-Rules-Did-I-Miss-The-Memo/m-p/1102797/message-uid/1102797#U1102797 Isn't a good thing we're prized for our community spirit and all that jazz.. pity it only extends to them using us to do their thinking for them rather than them passing on information. hey ho
  11. try contacting virtual ability http://virtualability.org/sl_resources.aspx they should be able to help your friend. They have an island in sl called virtual ability and here's some contact points I found in search http://search.secondlife.com/?query_term=virtual+ability&collection_chosen=all&sort=&isLeftColOpen=true
  12. from what others have said you should have received an email from LL a few days ago telling you that from yesterday you would no longer receive the discounted commission for being a high income seller. 1805L is correct and reflects the 5% commission rate you're now being charged.
  13. There was a marketplace update yesterday that seems to have caused a few defects to the existing system. it's possibly related to this http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Merchants/Charged-twice-for-the-same-market-listing/m-p/1101033/message-uid/1101033#U1101033 I suggest you raise a support ticket with LL and hopefully they'll refund you.
  14. we pointed this out to them when it was first released last year. If it made it onto their to do list I think the list might have fallen behind the sofa.. There's absolutely no harm in reminding them though
  15. Blaze Nielsen wrote: I can confirm while updating marketplace listings with newer model that 1. permissions were deleted in every case. 2. Item showed dual listings in the previous version. Have not seen item name changed to the name in magic box. interesting that it's not universal. My first and only thought is that if those of you affected are beta testers and they tested from the production website they may have put code in for your accounts to hack them to enable the develpment code to run and it's not been removed properly. Without knowing what they did it's impossible to guess. I'd suggest a jira if one hasn't already been raised.
  16. or it could be you have a character like a # in the file name. could you tell us what the file name is and we can have a look?
  17. Dora Gustafson wrote: More alarming is this: In listing, errors are introduced Item name is changed to the name in the magic box All permissions are removed so the item appear to have no permissions I've just done a visual inspection of my listings on the shopfront pages and the names appear to all be ok. I did an inspection of a sample of my listings and they all had the correct perms. it could have been an issue during the reindex. it might be worth you having another look
  18. Brooke Linden wrote: We are actively working to fix the ANS reports of L$0. This is a bug that was missed during testing. I'll update the merchants when we know that we will be able to deploy the fix. Brooke you missed it? really? so does that mean you missed the order details/customer name from the website transaction history too or is that a deliberate "enhancement"?
  19. Arwen Serpente wrote: Yes, the Commerce Linden is showing up, but we have lost all of our other information (Description: Order #xyz,Item #xyz(Name of Buyer) Please restore all the necessary info! it's unbelieveable, isn't it?
  20. it's up.. i just looked at my home page and my stuff looks like it's still there - so bonus!
  21. Toysoldier Thor wrote: Once again... another immature process from this company.... "we are announcing that we will be doing an apgrade to the system you use but we wont tell you anything about it until AFTER we do it since tis a big secret", Heaven forbid LL wouldnt tell us in advance what the changes are so we could be aware of what changes we might experience or find bugs with. Noooo that would make too much sense. Wow this company!! what a piece of work I didn't want to be uncharitable before but since it's already taken 2 1/2 hrs to do something they thought would be done and dusted in an hour, I'd say one of the reasons was because they didn't know what they would manage to get working until they'd finished so by releasing them after the event they'll map to what the finally made happen. after this length of time, unless it comes up soon I'd like to hope they'll roll back and try again later. we'll see eventually though, possibly, maybe...
  22. Toysoldier Thor wrote: Since LL Commerce and LL Development like the BLACK OPS approach to working with us Merchants.... we will only know if its a Kraken or a Minnow when its thrown into our boat. which will be in around an hour.. ok, I didn't notice the time.. so it will be any time soon... tick, tick, tick
  23. I can only think of a couple of things on top of a wrong perm texture being applied. Have you linked it to a prim you didn't create that has only copy/mod perms? take it into your inventory and have a look at the perms there it could be something simple like you've put a script/animation/notecard in it with no transfer permissions (you can't sell something if it can't be transferred). take it back into your inventory and look at the perms were you just selecting one prim to change it or did you select the entire item to change it? (if you were in edit linked parts mode it won't let you do it iirc) SL was playing up at the time you tried it. Not unheard of oddly enough. ymmv but more info is needed btw: if the texture is a temp one you won't know it's damaged permissions until it is transferred to someone else and the only work around is to replace the prim. slapping a new texture on doesn't fix it (unless that's changed recently)
  24. VonGklugelstein Alter wrote: it has to do with Commission discounts from the old Xstreet system. It only affects a very small number of people who received an email yesterday telling them what they are going to do and why. they're removing the discount? that will make 25 people unhappy. (this is all from memory mind you but I seem to remember it was a 4% commission for the top 25 sellers and I can't see LL improving the commission). hmmm perhaps that's not it as that shouldn't be hard coded and even if it is, it shouldn't need an hours downtime to sort it out.
