  1. that's expected behaviour - I was returning them from SLM and they are supposed to go into the received items. They'll go into lost and found only if you delete them from the merchant outbox.
  2. I've been spending a bit of time going through some old listings and swapping out the boxed item I did the migration with the other day to a nice new folder. (even I'm not foolish enough to tamper with listings that sell!!) The problem is that the replacement isn't being substituted by the look of it. I am able to edit the listing and change the object name to the new folder (named differently to the previous DD name) but when I look at the listing on the website, everything updates except for the contents tab - which shows the old DD item. Someone else has made a post about a customer receiving an empty dd folder.. I wonder if they're related? I really wish that LL would spend some money on real testers rather than relying on people donating their time - this is a universal problem with crowdsourcing rather than using professionals. People who are volunteering their time are under no obligation to test everything, don't have any real idea what the process should be doing and a lot of the time either don't recognise a defect or can't be bothered reporting it. sadly, this thing is still looking like one of their best deployments ever. edit: either the update is being fantastically slow (around an hour?) or it needs the trigger of the old folder being deleted from the unassociated items list. as after I deleted a couple of the now unassociated folders the listing updated with the correct contents. whichever it is though, it's not acceptable.
  3. I was offline when I sent a whole lot of stuff back to the inventory from SLM and when I logged in I got the normal I got this [2012/03/23 23:26] Second Life: Your inventory named 'Satiated Desires:Captive Post *Boxed*' has been returned to your Received Items folder. [2012/03/23 23:26] Second Life: Too many instant messages. Delivery capped. and no IM that I received after this time was displayed.. I only know about some of the IMs because they went to email but I don't always get my IMs sent to email so if there were others then I'll never know. Despite the messages being capped, all the items I sent back (and there were many more than those listed) were received by the folder. which meant I didn't even get the DD delivery notifications made (I assume that there's a message waiting as per the old magic boxes when you log in and they never went to email) after this time.

    Capping

It looks like the direct delivery is not affected by the capping issue. Problem is that those deliveries do contribute to the IM capping so anything non dd received after you've bought a flurry of things (or returned things to your inventory) are still lost. a win but nothing to write home about.
  5. I had that for a couple of days and somehow after logging into the account via chrome I could go back to IE and it worked (and is still working) fine. technology,... where would we be without it
  6. If all your lindens are gone then your account history on the web should tell you where they went. If you're premium, contact live help. If you're not, lodge a ticket with support sharpish. Are you sure about this though? most items are copy so the only way to get rid of them is if they're deleted and the trash emptied. That's a lot of work for someone to do - unless they really hated you and if you had tried to get in whilst they were logged into your account for that hour it would have logged them out.
  7. I'd certainly like to see some kind of weighting that would penalise sellers who haven't logged into the marketplace in a period of time (6 months is fair I think, even though I'd rather it was something shorter). That way at least stuff would be shown where the seller is around - even if it's only to log in. Other weightings are an assumption of how searchers view relevance and has the potential to be a minefield (as inworld search shows - that's been damaged almost two years now. One can only assume it's beyond repair or at least beyond LL interest). If I search for a term I certainly don't expect it to rank on how recently it was bought, the rating or something completely different yet that's what people who create search code think we want it.. the really don't believe that we just want an exact match, then a partial match. Apparently they know better than us what we want. go figure.
  8. lol you still expect rational? To give them their due, the rest of the web also weighs relevence returns with other things but usually they start with something approaching a matching term before they start jigging around with it. Just recently I sat in a meeting with a (eta - *non* LL)commerce search dev and the weightings used to define "relevance" made me realise just how little relevance a search term has to the actually returns you see. It really was disheartening.
  9. It's taken a while for the penny to drop but they seem to have changed the concept of "relevant". It used to be along the lines of a 3 day window of recent sales and then the rest displayed according to a weighting. Now they seem to have removed sales and sale price from the weighting from some items (not all as I have had some recent sales pop up on the first few lines displayed). Only one thing I've sold in the last week has popped to the top and some of them didn't even make it to the first page (that's the 96 items displayed first page!) I can't even begin to fathom the logic behind the current returns displayed, things are still being shuffled around but not in a way that seems to be consistent or meaningful. Is this another memo I missed?
  10. you'll need to use one of the third party exchanges to get your money out as some of them offer a transfer to your bank account iirc. this is the old list of linden exchanges http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Archive/Third_Party_Linden_Dollar_Exchanges apparently LL doesn't like to encourage them any more and I don't know what is happening between LL and them (and I bet support won't either) That said, I did use virwox a couple of times last year and didnt't have a problem with it. hth

Ciaran Laval wrote: The folder acts more like a system folder, different options when you right click than you get when you right click something in objects or a normal inventory folder, for example. What are the technical advantages here because I don't see any end user advantages to this. it means a new viewer is not required to receive items. This solves the problem of people not being aware of the change and not being able to receive items (which was a pretty big issue with the DD viewer release a while back). So when DD comes in only merchants will need to upgrade their viewer.
  12. try hitting enter after you paste the url. That should generate a clickable link. If it doesn't, create the links outside of sl and then paste them in.
  13. I'm guessing but I'd say that the received items folder is like all the other system folders in that you don't create them and can't delete them. Hazarding a further guess, I'd say it's probably like a hybrid library folder in that you can't actually do much with the contents of the folder until you move it out of the folder. I'd even go so far as to guess that the folder is like the library folder in that the items aren't actually in your inventory but are sitting on a separate server until you do move them into the inventory. This of course would ensure that you'd never lose a delivery again so is probably highly unlikely to be part of the design. as for you Toy.. what ever happened to your "over my dead body!" attitude to mesh?? have a change of heart did we?
  14. Marigold Devin wrote: People who are upset about it the most, are probably the ones who have most coming into their inventories on a daily basis, and it's hard enough to keep on top of everything. Like you say, when you get LMs, notecards, textures, with a box of stuff, it automatically goes into the LMs, notecards, textures, etc., folders. With this new Received Items folder, it means we have to elect to move those items into their appropriate folders, but it's more probable that we will delete more rather than move it - or at least that's what LL are hoping. All our inventory is clutter on their asset servers. I have a huge inventory - most of it is my shop catalogue, textures, animations scripts etc. I do get a reasonable volume of notecards, sometimes items and general miscellanea. If I crash on login it means dicking around with the filters to try and find stuff and then it usually needs moving to other folders as I deal with it. Received items will make my life easier - even my playtime account will benefit as I do buy and LM stuff on my travels that I don't deal with straight away and because it can be weeks between logins it will be nice to have it all sitting there. So, apart from the returned items bit I'm not really seeing a problem for me. I'm only really posting because this has the potential to be a slodrama and I haven't been involved in one of those for a loooonnnng time..

Will I have to deal with those thousands of items cluttering my inventory? Yes. They will be in your Received Items along with everything else, waiting for you to sort them. are you sure? that makes absolutely no sense whatsover - even applying LL standards. edit... just checked the links in the first post and yes, they really are going to dump everything in there.. I assume the lost and found folder is going to be renamed received items. it's not completely the end of the world and if it makes them happy, who are we to complain? we just pay their wages.
  16. perhaps I'm just feeling contrary today but I like the idea of a received items folder. I used to hate it when I'd get LMs, notecards etc and they'd all go into different folders. Recent items tab helps at the time I'm out and about but if I don't want to deal with it straight away they get lost. So to me a recieved items folder means I have everything tucked away to nag me to deal with. That's assuming that it's only going to be for stuff that comes from everyone but me. I want all my stuff to go back to the folder it came from.
  17. or.. 1. rez new box and copy contents to inventory 2. go to existing boxes and box by box delete *all* the scripts in the box and replace with the ones you've just put in your inventory. quicker and easier. edit: dont forget to update your config via the menu (emails) and make it talk to the server. your way is good to get a backup of the box contents just in case (or come DD migration time) though.
  18. certainly there's no hope of getting the money back, that's just got to be written off. The DMCA for those who still are having their images used to defraud people will at least stop more people in future being ripped off by whomever owns the account now.
  19. This is why I think a DMCA is probably the best bet. They can't ignore that, even if they do choose to take no action on any of the vendors outside of the ones listed on the DMCA. I'd say the best way is to crowdsource the searching for the vendors. more eyes and all that... and it might even stir LL to do the right thing.
  20. I can think of a couple of things that could be done - how sucessful they'd be is another matter. It's contingent on someone who knows their old Apez listings have been used to take money from people without delivering the goods. 1. AR the Apez Mann account for fraud and ARing a vendor with your listing might be a good idea too. 2. DMCA the Apex Mann account for unauthorised use of your listing image (probably the most likelihood of sucess) - you'll need to include a vendor. Although LL in it's particularly unhelpful way of managing these will probably expect you to find everyone of the vendors that have your image and include that in the DMCA or it won't be removed. Despite them having the facility to remove all vendors at the push of a button. 3. AR egoisme owner for fraud - Sassy says it's been sold on but there's nothing on the website. Any reasonable person would expect that they would still own the website and the Apez Mann account if they checked the egoisme website. LL will certainly be able to tell and take action if it turns out that the egoisme owner hasn't sold it on. Anything else is just sound and fury which will achieve nothing.
  21. Sassy Romano wrote: Ramses (egoisme) bought it but has long since sold it again. It's still dead, it never resurrected. Dead... not alive. fine. Although it probably wouldn't have killed the person behind egosime to have put a note of this on the website with the other references to apez.
  22. egoisme (search the marketplace to see what they primary brand sells) supposedly bought it after it went poof and was supposed to bring it back on line last february (?) they also promised to pay all outstanding monies - there were some people who had hundreds of usd in their accounts when it folded. Neither thing happened. I've just I checked the egoisme website there is nothing new. http://www.egoisme.net/index.php/press-room/press-releases/47-apez-corp-acquisition.html I've given up hope of ever getting paid the money that was sitting in there and unless something has changed, just taking your vendors and boxes offline isn't enough to stop sales being made through the affiliates (or it wasn't the last time I checked) so I deleted my account prior to the website shutdown just to make sure no one would have money taken from them for a purchase that would never be delivered. Since the website and forum vanished there's been no way to track what has been going on.
  23. you're welcome. I reasoned that if it took me a while to work out what to do then most people would struggle trying to test it. They certainly are not the best tutorials I've ever written but they do the job and mean we don't have to try to remember what to do when the time comes. unless they get sneaky and change the whole process of course..
  24. I seem to be getting the notifications for purchases and sales/deliveries. I even got a failure which has concerned me as it was the item I'd set up the magic box and dd for, then bought. the magic box one failed and the email gave a link to find out more but the link isn't working. I can only assume that an item can only be sold via one delivery channel - which could mean that either they're turning off the mb's straight away or the system can't cope with the same named item in two places.. I'd have to run more tests to check and I'm not really feeling like doing that right now, so it will remain a mystery until I go back in just before they go live.. unless someone else wants to do it.
  25. in general, the emails are sometimes turning up so it looks like emailing is switched on. I thought you were referring only to ANS - which I don't use so I just ignored.
