  1. before I start rolling my eyes too far back into my head I need to ask you how much time you gave it between the purchase and posting. I've had up to a three hour wait to see purchases update the transaction history. So I'm fervently hoping this is just lag rather than a true defect.
  2. That wasn't a shot at you and my description was more of the LL developer's behaviour. I only remember it because during the migration I had issues where I couldn't update items because they were supposedly duplicates. The commerce team managed to put a fix in so those of us affected could update the items but it looks like the new team didn't realise that there was a code hack in there when they did the DD development. If one of my (non ll) technical sources is to be believed, and he's only going on what he can see from the front end and the timing of the break, it's unfixable and only creating a new listing will fix it along with a bulk delete of the affected item range to get rid of those corrupted listings - and even then that may not work without some manual intervention to clean up after. For me, I'd rather they did the bulk delete and told us to get on with listing new ones and focus on getting the direct delivery failures fixed but at the moment I'm less than optimistic they'll do either. I'm sort of thinking that they're hoping the fuss will die down soon and we'll become resigned to both issues being part of our slm life.
  3. It's not so bad in the parallel universe, is it? Gavin gives us comedy, Dartagnan provides some joy and it's a nice little respite from that big bad reality of SL commerce. (edit.. and super string admits he's the one who opened the door to this nice little universe of ours..) I can say that, despite finding one of my other stores has over 10% of the items corrupted and despite them being unlisted on my site, they're listed and sitting quite happily on others where I can't get to them. I'm almost tempted to list them so at least those people who are giving me free advertising can get some in return.

What do I need to do to sign up? go a little crazy and step into the parallel universe with me. Let's face it, you'll never see an email like this from them but it is nice to dream, isn't it?
  5. by email. " We are very sorry for the problems that some of you have experienced since the implementation of our Direct Delivery system or continue to experience from purchases that are delivered by a magic box. We can understand your frustration at the problems and delays these are causing and are working in particular to solve the issue with corrupted listings. Unfortunately, despite identifying the problem we have not yet been able to find a solution to this particular problem that will not cause more disruption to the Marketplace. We are also working on the delivery failure issues and hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you for your patience and support while we investigate and resolve these problems. Yours.. " ... No, you're not dreaming, it's not real but it should be. There's nothing worse than silence for an online brand, particularly when there are many more, easier to use entertainment options out there. So I thought I'd post this so just for a moment we could all savour that parallel universe where this organisation treats us as a valued customer. (you'll note even I'm not brave enough to put in things about contacting support with problems... I might be trying out a parallel universe for size here but that's just too crazy a notion to entertain!)

  7. Andrea Sage wrote: Yup... my listings are all screwed up too. I added a comment to: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4587 Thanks again LL for breaking something that worked just fine.... again. It didn't work fine but when this problem initially happened LL just worked around it to keep the xsl migration going. now with the changes made to optimise the site for dd the band aid has fallen off and it's a problem., It's a bit like having a table with a wonky leg, when it first happens you stop putting heavy things on it then a few years later someone who doesn't know comes past and dumps a heavy box on it. For any of you who really want dates (which is actually quite irrelevant to sorting the issue but good for identifing which listings are affected for a manual fix) go digging in the forums back around sept/oct 2010. There were quite a few discussions around this then.
  8. Josh, this **bleep** up by LL is, as usual, born from incompetence and an indifference to the people who use the software. Remember this is a company who not only doesn't like using its software but parades the fact they have no idea how people use it as a badge of honour. There's no conspiracy - just plain old incompetence and a lack of professional pride. As with every LL functional software release I can think of since 2007, this one removes functionality, is of a poor quality and makes it harder for the user to accomplish a simple task. Again, it's not a conspiracy - it's just that we are not important enough to them to make them want to care about how well or not we receive their deployment. and who can blame them when it comes to the marketplace? at over 2.5 million listings (over a million since the XSL migration less than 18 months ago) - the matter of a maximum of 100,000 corrupt listings, delivery failures which probably are well less than 10% of sales and the general weariness of the user population to their behaviour - however egregious - means they can do what they like. Add to this the fact that they rarely receive usd for these purchases so effectively it's just another sink and you can see how it could add to their lack of interest in what their customer's think. The bottom line is that either you put up with their obvious disregard for their customers or you leave (as a staggeringly large number of people have.). One day you are just going to have to admit to yourself that no matter what you do or say, the glory days of sl are over and will not return and then join the rest of us in trying to survive their indifference. Nothing is going to make them improve because I don't think they see themselves as ever doing anything wrong.
  9. I'm pretty sad about DD failing too. It was the main selling point for using it. It's almost 48 hours later and the failure is still not processed. If DD doesn't actually stop the problem with delivered non deliveries I'm going back to using magic boxes for all my new releases - it takes me less time and effort to get them listed that way than having to use the dd outbox and I since won't get paid for these types of delivery non-failures either way, I might as well go back to something more user friendly.
  10. I've just checked all my visible listings and I have one more item that is in the 1400000 range and that isn't affected - but I've not touched the listing since the slx-slm migration and the dd migration did a straight swap out. I've put this listing on my "avoid at all costs list" as I'm quite sure if I do it will corrupt like the rest. If you want to see what your numbers are, mouseover the listing using firefox and the url appears in the bottom left hand corner. If you're feeling brave you can of course try to update it and see what happens.
  11. I've had my first undelivered DD item. There's no unicode in it but it does have a full stop i.e. . It's been undelivered for more than 12 hrs now so it's pretty safe to say something's gone wrong. not much more I can say really. sigh

  13. consistency? no, a referential integrity check but that's beyond them I suspect - both from a capability point and because of what they'll find. I'm more and more convinced this goes right back to when we migrated from slx and the tables they put in to improve website performance has become the perfect storm which has brought the slx-slm coruption to the fore. It doesn't need to be rolled back past when site optimisation was done - the problem is (assuming I'm right) they'll have to take those tables away and we'll have to go back to that crippled website. btw - I've just had a look at one of my other shops and I have a listing is supposedly listed yet when I click on it, it takes me to the default marketplace page. so it's not actually listed although it says it is. so I suspect it's floating around on someone elses homepage - c'est la vie.

I hope otherwise, really I do but there's just a complete information blackout which is the most unimpressive of all. ahhh I see you've hit upon my definition of "work" in this case
  15. Thanks for the update but that has nothing to do with the corrupt listings. What are you going to do about them? I hazard a guess and say the problem is unfixable unless there's a roll back but that requires you to a. have backups, b. have the skills to then roll the transactions from the rollback date through again and c. find another way to work around the duplicate foreign key issue that doesn't use that indexing. (kind of guessing a bit here but I did run it past someone who is very experienced in these things). It's a bit of a mess, isn't it?

We will post more information as soon as we have it. The Commerce Team Will you REALLY post more on the issue when you find something out??? You never have in the past. We have no clue what you are really working nor any problems you have discovered or solved. So lets see if you REALLY DO get back to us. My bet is we wont. I'd say the post is more about showing they really do work on weekends when needed but we'll see
  17. Pearl Vollmar wrote: I just realised I have double listings myself now. As I edited those that had the wrong pictures, I now see they are products that are under a different merchant but with my picture. now you mention it, the one of mine that is damaged is something I relisted a few days back because somehow it had become unlisted sometime after my migration. I've got a list of stuff I was going to release this weekend. I think I might wait a while.
  18. same here, I haven't bought a listing enhancement since LL first took over xstreet and their effectiveness nose dived.
  19. I don't think they know what they're talking about (how unsurprising). I've just tried to edit my listing that has dodgy pics and the wrong maturity level and I got this error 1 error prohibited this Product from being saved There were problems with the following fields: The Xstreet product ID '1325134' already exists. Please provide a unique Xstreet product ID. some of you may remember this from when we migrated over from slx. I think it's pretty safe to say that LL have sunk to a new low with this defect - even by LL release standards this is extremely poor.
  20. good catch! I found around a dozen that had not become active - interestingly they were from the same outbox upload

I've heard it said that Technology is Latin for "Doesn't quite work right." lol yep. today I can't get back in with IE so I had to use chrome.. and it took me the best part of two hours to swap out 20 folders. The marketplace had a completely sub-optimal workflow before this latest shiny, now it's plumbing new depths for unusability. I can't bear doing any more today. If this doesn't improve (and let's face it, the chances are negligible) I think my back catalogue can just stay as it is. perhaps we need to take a collection and buy them a proper dba & designer. Obviously they need a couple of the dev roles filling with people who know what they're doing.
  22. UV rays? This is a March day in London we're talking about here! will you be scared if I said not only did I go out into the sunshine but I went for a bike ride too? There goes my reputation for indolence and sloth
  23. thanks for that but I checked some of those listings almost an hour after I'd put them up. I'm assuming now it's lag but I deleted the old folder from the unassociated just in case. As the number of people is ramping up the website is getting wonkier again. I think I've had enough of SL today and will go out and enjoy the sunshine.
