  1. I'm 5'0 in both SL and RL. Problem starts when others make themselves some abnormally high height. In RL, if I stood next to an average height man then yes, I would look short, but not like a child. In SL, if I stood next to one of the ridiculously average height men then yes, I probably look like a child. Whose fault is that? Anyway, I like tall men. Even though the top of my head is below the tops of their shoulders. Why dont kiddie avatars that are designed to be children have a hidden flag that SL can detect and automatically disallow them entry into adult areas. The shortest I can possibly make my Maitreya body is around 4'6". 5'7" is a stupid height to use as a limit for ejection. Anywhere that does that can poke their precious venue up my pixelled backside. Shorties have a tough time in SL
  2. I have 9 female avatars of which 5 have Maitreya, none have Belleza or SLink. I trialed them but just didn't like the way they looked, or their HUDs. My main me (Maitreya), is short, curvy, flat-chested (V-Tech), with seemlessly skinned wrists and ankles, plus bento hands. She has an enormous wardrobe and shoe collection of which much cost nothing, just the time and effort for hunts, luckyboards and freebie sniffing. It is extremely unusual for something I acquire not to fit me. Other bodies on others include TMP-basic (free), Cute Factor & EVE. I didn't take to Belleza at all, although they're commonly included as an option in clothing, same goes for SLink. But I dump them all to keep inventory numbers down.
  3. I often play one of Estas Tonne's albums in the background while on SL.. Helps maintain a mellow mood With a long gentle build-up you might like to nip forward to 2m 20s .. Simply beautiful ..
  4. So, if you get a new computer, or have more than one, your alts can still enter where your primary account was banned on the other computer?
  5. Callum, thank you so very much for your reply and help. I truly appreciate it! I have been in/out with some alts and you are correct about the messages being different. I never doubted you I have been educated by your post above as I have no idea how estate and estate management operates. I am purely a regular user and potential customer. At least now I can understand why I felt as if my upgrade played a part as it all seems quite recent, although based upon your explanation I think I can safely disregard that thought. For TLC: https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Remarkable/ My alts can get in, only Candice account is banned and cannot. With TLC I was attracted to visit by Sintiklia on Flickr. Because I couldn't get in I contacted her directly and she very kindly sent me both her demo and giftwhich were on display at the TLC event. It is shop owners like this that go a very long way in securing faithful customers for the future. Of the two I approached she was the only one to do that, but I digress .. For Shinny Shabby: https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Shiny Shabby/137/129/27 This account (Candice Littleboots) gets: Teleport failed. You are banned from the region. The alts get: Teleport failed. Sorry, you do not have access to that teleport destination. From what you say, am I correct in thinking the primary banned user is me (Candice), so any request for help should come from this account? I am going to try and figure out who I can contact regarding access to Shinny Shabby again. We all have our off days but I have absolutely no recollection of anything I may have done to result in a ban across all estates. Do estate management keep notes on why an individual ban took place? .. I would be interested to see what I did. Also, if a ban can also include alts, then presumably an IP address is somehow accessed. Are IP addresses visible to estate management? I hope anyone I manage to make contact with regarding this matter is as reasonable and understanding as you. The image below is what my alts get when they try to access Shinny Shabby.
  6. Teleport failed: You are banned from the region. I've been getting quite a few of the these recently and I'm sure I haven't genuinely been banned from all of the regions .. Honest! It really is quite frustrating and also upsetting to find I am banned I upgraded to the latest Firestorm about two weeks ago and this seems to happening more frequently since then (Firestorm 5.0.11 (53634) Jan 9 2018). A week ago I found myself banned from Blueberry /Vinyl /JustBecause /Tetra sim, but I contacted the nice lady at Just Because and she kindly got it sorted. Sadly I am still banned from the TLC event (remarkable) and Shiny Shabby and I do not know who to contact to ask to be unbanned. How do you know who is the administrator for lands from which you are banned if you cannot enter When the land hosts an event it is often a shop participant offering their link, rather than the land admin. I can always see when it is about to happen because the teleporting window shows no data, as below.
  7. I just upgraded Firestorm from an earlier v5 to the current latest - Firestorm 5.0.11 (53634) . I initially had an issue with the new version freezing and logging me out after about 10 minutes or so, but that seems to have been cured by reducing bandwidth from the previous setting of 1250Kbps down to 800Kbps (Preferences - Network & Files). The other thing, which is what this post is really about and I hope someone can help me, is that I stop walking to my double-clicked point whenever I click the ESC key as I'm walking. The previous version did not do that, it just alligned my view to the direction I started walking but I kept on walking. Preferences - Move & View .. there is an option near the bottom for Double-click on land. I always have mine set to Move to clicked point. But the way it used to work has changed and I don't like. Anyone know how to make it work like it did before re: pressing ESC while walking?
  8. There are 3 occurences I can recall where I've had one or more HUD stop working: - 1. Certain places they just won't work. That even includes some sandboxes, I never return to a sandbox where that is the case. 2. Where a minimised HUD's 'shadow' (the area it occupies when maximised) covers the HUD that seems to not work. 3. When I've been unceremoniously booted off some property, often when using an expired landmark. On a number of occasions this booting has 'broken' the HUD and rendered it useless and I've needed a redelivery. On items I feel a replacement may be awkward to obtain I keep a backup of the HUD. This has included, but not exclusive to; Vista AO HUDs, Maitreya HUDs, clothing modify HUDs and hair HUDs. Very irritating. If it ever feels as if I'll be booted I exit quickly to avoid potential HUD damage.
  9. If you're prepared to be patient then may I suggest some lucky boards: - Olive for hairs. 8 luckies and a midnight mania board every day. No group join required - LM Belle Epoque has 5 luckies, various items including for non-mesh bodies. No group join required - LM Sn@tch has 8 lucky boards for clothing, including for non-mesh body. No group join required - LM MH Unique Design has 18 lucky boards plus goup gifts, including for non-mesh body. Free group join - LM I like luckies
  10. Using the browser's search function is sometimes a hit and miss affair, but for shops which have a Group tend to stand apart from similar names due to their high member count. It's all part of the 'living' experience, same as for first. Engage grey matter. I sometimes wonder how many sets of redundant SLink hands and/or SLink feet are sitting idle gathering dust in people's inventories these days. I have Maitreya but used to hang on to SLink shoes as well, just in case. Never worn them. Don't do that anymore.
  11. They Candy-tipped me again .. Please tell them to stop, Sir.
  12. Thanks so much for your help, Alyona. I realise now on a re-read that my post could've easily been misunderstood referring to gestures as I did. There are gestures (normal animations) and gestures (facial movements) but with you also having Vista Miriam you understood me, so thank you again. I am using Miriam's 'OLD' HUD as I really do not like the newer version, too many click to achieve what the old HUD could do in one and it is often slow to respond. I like the old style very much. Vista Esther only comes with the new style HUD, hence my desire to get everything consolidated into the old. I never knew about 'comma' usage for simultaneous anim plays, that looks like it could be a lot of fun. That is excellent information!
  13. A little pre-amble .. I just spent the past few hours finally consolidating my 3 Vista Anim sets into one convenient HUD, which happens to be an older Vista HUD. The sets are Esther, Miriam and Chica, plus numerous various. It was testing each individual animation and organising them that took most of the time. Finally I have it how I like it, more or less. The one remaining thing I would love to do before calling it a done job is to make my lips move from within my Vista HUD. Perhaps be able to set it to occur in the same way I set up ARMS. My lips automatically move whenever I type into local. I believe this is done by my CATWA Catya head, but I stand to be corrected. This lips animation seems different from the 3 'talk' gestures inside the CATWA folder. I do not use voice but I think they are for that. Does anyone know if it is possible to trigger any of these lip movements via my animation HUD, without typing into local chat? Also, is it possible to trigger a gesture via an animation HUD?
  14. Sintiklia hair from their lucky board and a dollarbie dress. It's not that I'm cheap, I'm just careful with money
  15. Head over to Argrace and collect both the free group join gifts (x3), plus the subscription gifts with beanie (x2). Lovely short hairs (x4).
  16. I enjoy fashion blogs. This one had a two year haitus after 2015. Then only two posts since the time of this thread and it's revival post. What is the expected post interval for the future? .. I tend to drop fashion blogs from my favourites if they don't update much. Also, I'd feel a bit miffed if my name was spelled CADNY.
  17. Sometimes life leads us down a path we could never have envisaged.
  18. I don't disagree, but just to add to what you've said; consumers don't care whether something is mod or not until they want/try to alter something and realise they cannot. A few pages back I was that smug consumer who said 'if I like it, I buy it. If I dont, I won't'. I must confess, the more I see this thread pop up the thread charts the more I think about and remember things where no-mod was a real pain in the a$$ for me and where the seller/creator could've very easily offered more than one version in the sale package, even if they weren't mod, just for options. Example: (skip this tedious tale as it's pure self-indulgence) Based upon a recent free Xmas-themed event item (a 4-step strippable boyfriend shirt) I visited their store a few days later and bought another with a texture I much preferred. So far so good, I knew the item already so effectively I only have myself to blame for its shortcomings. Not long after I realised that simply holding down my left-mouse-button over myself to rotate my view was extremely inconvenient while I was engulfed in this over-sized invisible clickable bubble which is used to bring up the menu for the various stages of undress. It makes it almost impossible to wear due to the inconvenience of not being able to move and view around freely as I normally do using that technique. Anyway, to bring this tale of tedium to a conclusion (in this post) I am going to send a notecard to the seller asking for either a modifiable version or 4 shirts unscripted (without that awfully oversized clickable bubble). One at each stage of undress. Do you think this request is unreasonable? .. If so, I'll let you know if I was successful.
  19. At last! .. Warm enough for the pool and my pocket bikini
  20. There's a certain store which regularly gives away L$200 giftcards, perhaps twice per month. When using their giftcard you can choose to 'gift' an item to someone else. There's barely anything left in that store that I actually want anymore, including colour combinations. It's becoming a real struggle to spend. If you're wondering what this has to do with this thread, just read the thread title again.
  21. If memory serves I have never spent more than L$15 on any jewelry and the bulk of that was spent some years ago. I cleared out most of my old jewelry as that area of my inventory stock grew as I added free items. I have quite an extensive collection of chokers, necklaces, bracelets, headbands, head decorations etc. acquired from numerous group gifts, hunts and events. They seem quite common as giveaways and occasionally an item is of exceptional quality. Much does get trashed due to ugliness or lack of modify, but in some cases I have been genuinely amazed at the quality being given away for free. My bento ring collection has exclusively come from a number of different events and hunts too. I have 7 various sets now, which makes little or no need to actually buy any more. As a side note: The Maitreya body is so unbelievably well catered for in all areas, particularly frees and event/hunt gifts. Back to the subject of non-modify: In the case of a set of a long toenails I purchased last year, which I really like, one or two toenails poked through certain pairs of shoes and I was unable to edit the nails individually to hide the offenders. I contacted the seller and they provided me with another editable set free of charge. So yes, I agree, it would have been disappointing had she not made a modifiable set available, but it all turned out fine in the end because she is a considerate seller who brought things to a very satisfactory conclusion for what is a relatively unusual situation for me. Maybe keeping things simple isn't so bad for the likes of me.
  22. It was not an argument. Arguing on fora is a fruitless affair. I was simply stating things from my perspective. My own opinion, if I'm allowed. It was not a correction, simply my view. Again, as above, just stating things from my perspective. There are people far more capable and able on SL who can and do create things which are well beyond my own abilities and I can only admire. Those that particularly appeal to me I occasionally purchase their products when funds allow. Being a mere 'player of the game' allows me to disconnect from the apparent hassles of knowing or expecting too much. Therefor my frustration levels are negligible. One can only base one's opinion upon what is presented. I've never been an advocate of the ad hominem approach, or to be swayed by general consensus. Having a good moan about whatever negative state of affairs you may consider worthy does, perhaps, possess positive attributes in terms of letting off a little steam, getting it off your chest and/or sharing your thoughts with others. I hope this thread has been of use to some who feel SL users are not doing things the right way. Being told I'm wasting my own money on a purchase because it was a no-mod item is ludicrous. In fact, it is insulting. Providing I am happy with it, having demo'd it first, then my own money has been spent how I choose. In times past I have wasted money, but in essence it was not. An occasional punt without a demo I was fortunate, but money spent on an item I am unable to adjust to fit and/or did not fit correctly becomes a lesson in demo'ing. No demo, no purchase. My second life as a simpleton does have its benefits.
