  1. I am inclined to think you just do not WANT to understand! And for those who think like you, I am inclined to NOT want to help you understand.
  2. They do sell blank (templates) for those who want to put their own designs on them. Granted the templates are expensive in some cases and not a lot around, but that is one way you could be sure to get what you want. And yes there is a reason for no mod for most clothing items, after putting hours of work into something a creator does not want to see it totally borked and messed up by someone else... just saying. If you want things your way either buy only what you like as is, or buy a template and paste what you want on the maps.
  3. I think there is a difference between a Fat Pack and an item which comes with a texture/colour hud for basically the same price you would pay for one item. I agree it is annoying to have to buy a full fat pack to get one colour you want that is not offered separately. Personally I do not think that is fair but a lot of creators do that. Fat packs as a rule are expensive, can be upwards of 500 L or more. As a shopper I will usually pass on those. That is one of the reasons as a creator I include many textures or colour change choices on a hud and sell it for somewhere between 250 L and 350 L because I would pay that much to get the option of more choices. I do not sell separates anymore (some of my older stuff I did) because I feel to pay for a single would cost almost as much as the item with a hud, But there are many opinions about this. That is mine. I guess I am trying to work on some sort of middle ground.
  4. With regards to finding good dark tone (black shades, brown shades) I agree that up until this past 3 years or so, they were really hard to find. But of late I have seen lots of really good ones; both in stores and worn by friends. So they are out there. I also agree that the majority of skins are various shades of "white" all pretty pale. Try to find a really nice deep tanned skin and you are in for one long search. I hate to say how many demos I went through to find the skin I wear now which is dark with a slight redish tone (I am not black but am darker skinned than most white folks), it was not exactly what I wanted but it is the closest I could find. It would be nice to have more realistic and appropriate darker skin tones, but I suppose that all depends on who is creating the skins. My biggest complaint is the shading, or should I say over shading on darker skin tones. We create what we know in most things, and I expect that applies to skins as well. But as I said it is changing and likely to keep moving onward, as we get more new residents capable and able to create.
  5. I started out naming clothing for how the outfit struck me, i.e. Sweet n Sexy or Classic Sweater, names like that. Or if I was designing for an event with a theme, I would pick a name that suited the theme. But I must say after 16 years making clothes I am having a rough time not to repeat some names lol. Many I notice use female names for female clothes and men's names for male clothes. And some just number them like long dress 101 and such. So it all boils down to what you are happy with. There are no rules on naming your creations, except for not using patent names or logos of course.
  6. good question! And actually it could be that they want to emphasise the size of the bust? You know make it like sort of like socks to fit over the breasts rather than drape over them. The good news is that not all mesh makers do it that way lol.. So I just avoid the ones that do. Their loss whether it is a finished product or a template made for designers.
  7. I agree lol.. I would never use it in my fashions, nor wear it!
  8. Are you talking about two mesh items here such as a mesh top and mesh shrug? Or are you talking about system layers? If you are talking mesh; this can happen if the top and the shrug are made by different creators and not meant to be worn together. So it is possible that the top is larger than the shrug and therefore would poke through the shrug. With system layers the top should be on a shirt layer and the shrug on a jacket layer, and if they were made to go together it should work that way.
  9. Interesting statement, but I am afraid it really does not register with me. No idea what you are talking about?? Clothing ? Hair? And just why might I need this?
  10. This issue annoys me so much! There is no reason why creators cannot set attachment points for their customers.. So that they don't have to try wearing them all on right hand! A lot of new folks don't know to use "add" instead of wear.. And even then you can only add so many things to any one given point. Also loading up one attachment point does create problems when TPing etc. so best to spread the items out around different attachment points. If it is mesh it will go where it is rigged to go no matter what attachment point is assigned, but that attachment point is still counted. i.e. a shirt rigged mesh, assigned to attach to nose will still look right when worn but will say worn on nose. So it is good if creators pre set attachment points to avoid the overload on the right hand. Also, you can change the attachment point yourself if need be, by choosing "attach to" and after a menu pops up pick where you want this item to go.. from then on it will go where you set it to go... but still use "add" always.
  11. Hmm trends in fashion. Well I guess I could begin by saying, in RL and In SL I don't really pay much attention to trends. I kind of have my own style and pretty much stick to that. But if I were to pick one trend I love and one I hate it might go like this. I really dislike the overwhelming glut of ***** and ass fashion out there, some say it is sexy and provacative but in my view it is just *****ty. The trend I do like is timeless fashion, those items that do not scream "trend", the items that never really go out of fashion, classic and tasteful looks. A little risque is ok if it is done with taste.
  12. After reading the above, I just have this to say. Whether you make your own mesh clothing and rig it yourself which is one heck of a lot of work, and many hours invested, or you spend your lindens on pre made mesh clothing templates and put a lot of work and effort into the texturing process, it all comes down to business, all that work needs to be compensated for, so yes lindens are charged for the finished product. Of course. It makes me so sad when people expect all that work to be given away for free to satisfy people who do not have lindens. I have a business and put a lot of effort into earning the lindens I have. And I am not alone. I have no problem offering a free item now and then in a hunt, and I also don't have a problem selling older models at a discount, but to make a clothing item in every possible body size for free?? I don't think so.
  13. you might find some at Edge http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Suomi Finland South/154/36/22 I have several of their panty and bra BOM items. They have a lot of mesh too but also appliers and she includes the system layers in pretty much all of them.

    hi

well there a lots of us who could likely help you, if we knew what exactly you need help with..
  15. Wow! what a lot of work you put into this! The sheer number of heads and bodies boggles the mind. No wonder clothes makers are struggling to keep up, or as in some cases decided not to even try, but to focus on one brand. Kudos to you for tackling this huge task!
  16. Of course just like most other skin and makeup creators; I see Lelutka all over the place, I am constantly shutting down notices for them. This is the sort of thing that drives some customers to go buy "the supposedly" most popular thus perpetuating the load of goods for that brand. At the expense of the others which are pretty popular as a head but sadly lacking in skins and make up lately. It annoys me big time. I like my head, I like the hud and all the neat stuff you can do with it, and I resent being pushed into another brand just to get skins and make up for it. If it is just all about the money one can make, then I guess there is not much one can do about that.
  17. It is possible but not so sure it is in BOSH as I don't use it . I use kci Professional xChanger Ultimate version.. and I do it all the time. Once you figure out how to use the note card system it is pretty easy.
  18. yup I have been here since 2005 and made clothing back when there were no options except system layer clothing, and the odd attempt at making basic prims work for some items like insets for short skirts. I for one like having a nice looking mesh body ( do not miss RUTH)! I also like texturing mesh clothing, so mesh was not a bad thing in my view. BUT the glut of fashion stores out there now selling at stupidly low prices, has given me a run or two.. So I think what has happened is the focus on community, and RP and just plain fun has shifted to "lets get in on this ride and make a buck" sadly few actually do make any money at this unless you are one of the BIG names/brands. The more that get into SL as a business the more likely to see more metaverse and branding happening, not to say they all will be successful cause most won't. But I do miss some parts of the good old days.
  19. Sounds like you already have a head start. What you will need is a Mesh Creator's Kit from Maitreya, you can contact the owner of Maitreya and request a kit. That will give you the body to import to Maya, and the weights etc. that you will need to rig your clothing to fit the body correctly. All the mesh body makers in SL have such kits so if you wish to make clothing for another body you would also need to get kits for them. Since you have Maya and Adobe I am pretty sure you won't need any other programs. You should be able to make the mesh and rig it and upload it in .dae format using your Maya.
  20. Thanks for the sarcasm and put down! I was just being honest about how I feel and why I do what I do. But if it makes you feel better to criticize, go for it. And BTW I do have Flickr, and I do advertise within SL and I do have a fair number of customers, all of whom appreciate my work, and that I make for as many bodies as I can. And if I do not wish to use other social media that is my business not yours. I am done with this thread, nothing more to say!
  21. There are a few Template makers who consistently provide Maitreya Petite. I always look for that size to be included in the templates I use, but true they are few.
  22. Perhaps I am in the dark ages, but I still do not see the need to splash clothing I make for SL in SL, all over social media, I truly believe for the small business in SL that it won't make one tiny bit of difference, just like advertising in SL doesn't make any difference either. Folks flock to the big names and of course SL itself on social media but I rather doubt they would even take a second glance at a small store. Even if it has been in SL 16 years. Yes it is still small, because I don't care to waste a load of RL time posting 100 items every week in a load of social media sites. So ya I am in the dark ages, that is who I am, if I saw a legitimate reason to risk putting my RL in danger by getting it linked with SL stuff on social media I might change my mind but I doubt it. I really do not think it would help me succeed or advance in SL, so why risk it? I create in SL for the joy of creating, if it sells then great! But my main purpose is to fulfill my own creative needs and maybe provide folks with some great fashions in a variety of body sizes. For me there is no joy in posting on social media.. maybe I need a marketing manager lmao .
  23. Oh yes I do use Flickr and always include a link where the items I post there can be found.. BUT I will not use other social media such as FB and Twitter, I had an account there under my avatar but FB took it down stating that I am not a real person. I will not try again. I feel that this social media thing has gone way too far. SL is SL it shouldn't require we splash our business all over social media, it is not after all real life. And I for one do not wish to have my SL tied in with my RL information.
  24. No not using the SL editor tools.
