  1. Well first of all I rather doubt that this would ever happen since SL is a Creative Community, and people are free to make mesh bodies and sell them. Secondly, LL has so much on their plate just keeping SL up and running, attention is focused mostly on that, and I doubt they would be interested in updating the standard mesh body again (they have done so once). And they cannot dictate that it be the only body to be used. If you can prove you are an established and committed clothing maker; you only have to apply for a kit to rig and you would likely get one.
  2. I have been watching this thread since it came out, and reading the title again.. "Which trending "mesh bodies" don't have enough clothings yet?" The word "Trending" somehow caught me. That is just it, a trend does not last, and who is going to put a huge amount of effort into something that is likely to appeal to a smaller amount of the population for a short period of time? Having said that, I think that if someone actually came out with the most spectacular body ever made yet, it might have the longevity it would need to build a base of clothing makers. When Maitreya started she made her own clothing to go with it which gave her a huge leg up, which I do not see the newer body makers doing. Anyhow, just never did like that term "trendy". I have never been one to "follow trends". But that is just me. To each his/her own I guess.
  3. You might try Absen for Kupra and Reborn
  4. well, I would make a comment but on the New York times page they want you to pay for a subscription in order to even read it, never mind make any comments. and on the other page there is no option to make any comments. But seriously, Zuke has an avatar? When FB shut down my Tazz account saying I was not a real person. The only comment I can make is here, and in all honesty Zuke needs to check out SL if he wants to see what an attractive avatar really looks like. His is down right goofy looking lol.
  5. When you fill in the application; you can state what you want it for i.e. making clothing for yourself. You never know, you might get it. It is worth a try.
  6. if it is fit mesh it will not stretch over all sorts of bodies.. you would have to rig each one to a specific body. And looking at that dress, I am not so sure it is even mesh. The upper part and the sleeves look to be BOM or system layers, and the skirt is most likely flexi prims. So if you built it that way then it would fit pretty much any body with perhaps a few adjustments on the skirt.
  7. I like things to match, so I would go with the middle light blue one as it is closest to one of the squares in the plaid top.
  8. I actually add a BOM under top to any really low cut or too skimpy tops I might make. Personally I use a BOM under top a lot so I thought I would give folks a choice by adding the BOM Top to the package so it is right there matching if needed.
  9. As I see it there are a lot of smaller lesser known stores that do sell more modest type clothing yet stylish, the problem here is because they are lesser known, they are harder to find when looking. I make clothing from templates, and I reject way more templates than I buy simply because of what is offered in most cases is the "hooker" type stuff as I call it. But when I do get something good, and put a lot of work into texture and detail, usually making outfits rather than just a skirt or just a top.. As we cannot advertise in here I can't put my store info in here. I am perfectly capable of making my own mesh, but to do that I have to make the mesh in Zbrush, then take it into Blender to rig and save in .dae format and quite honestly, it is not worth the work. So I use a nice template like a blank canvas to work on. But my point here is that there are shops out there that do sell what you are looking for, they are just harder to find as they are not big name stores. Also a lot of events and fairs, will not accept anything made with templates so that also decreases the visibility of many good stores.
  10. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Perfect-Mid-Boots/22273900 Not open toe but otherwise suits your description
  11. well that was just a ball park based on a simple dress I did in mesh, of course that is not counting rigging time for me that was the worst cause I had to take my mesh out of my program ZBrush, cause you cannot rig in that nor can you save in .dae, then had to navigate blender to rig and save.. that is what took the time for me.. so much so and so much hassel moving from one program to another.. I just plain never bothered to do it again.
  12. I am afraid I have to agree with this. It is getting out of hand. If the mesh makers doing these new bodies were to also make clothing for it, that might be of some help. That is one reason Maitreya caught on so fast, great body plus a bunch of clothing items right there in the same shop for it plus what everyone else was making for it. If you think about it, it takes a mesh designer maybe up to 8 hours or more just to make the clothing item, then say another 2 to rig it accurately and well, now multiply those 2 hours by the number of bodies out there, and it is not hard to see how that would not be cost effective at all as they would never recover in lindens, the time they put into it. So of course some bodies are going to be left out. The more bodies out there the less options people really have when it comes to apparel and such.
  13. I don't know about mesh creators that make clothing to sell themselves, as far as what bodies they make for. I do know that a lot of the mesh template creators are now making form most asked for sizes according to their surveys or info. And they are all different. Lately the trend has been to sell a package of templates with Maitreya, Belleza Freya, Slink Hourglass, eBODY reborn and sometime curvy, and sometime Erika and of course the Legacy & Perky.. And on top of that they sell all the Kupras separately. So it is costing clothes designers who use templates extra if they want to make Kupra. I would imagine some would just not want to pay that extra so are not doing Kupra.
  14. I would be interested in figuring this out too. I have tried several methods but none work the way I want them to.
  15. Try ABSEN check out their store they have a whole section mostly newer stuff as well. You can find them on search
  16. As I read this A few things immediately come to mind. The first is You get what you pay for seems to apply here. And the second is if you skip the demo, then you are knowingly taking a risk. The other thing that came to mind when I looked at your picture, is that it is possible that who ever sold this outfit, could have mixed up the names of the mesh. In other words it might be labelled as Maitreya but actually be rigged for another body and he/she got the names mixed up. That does happen sometimes. I would send that picture to who ever sold it to you, and suggest that it might be miss named.
  17. definitely any sandal type shoe would work, nothing heavy or clunky to overpower the delicacy of the dress.
  18. I too went to take a look at your store (I am always on the look out for good eyes). And my observations are as follows: 1. Your ads could use a bit of sprucing up.. a lot of the pictures are so small it is hard to really get an idea of what they look like and they are very plain, perhaps an eye with a bit of simple make up would make the eyes stand out better, as you can see in the post prior to this one. 2. The price is fine; but you still need demos. I for one will not buy anything without trying a demo first, and since your ads are kinda blah, I would never think about it without a demo. 3. You might try coming up with some interesting colours that are blended with more than one colour. Very few real life eyes are all one flat colour. Just a few suggestions from someone who buys a lot of good eyes and I have made some for my own use that I do not sell, so I know what goes into an attractive eye.
  19. I think that now with the use of BOM non mesh items can sell just fine if they a high quality, and something people want. And with things such as eyes and make up etc. you can see tons of those at any given event and on Market Place. So if you make those items, in order to compete your items would have to be stellar. It can be done and it will sell if it is really good and word gets out there about your stuff. And marketing does play a big role in that. When I first started in SL in 2005 there was no mesh it was all system layer stuff or prim based. Oddly enough some of my system layer clothing that is on MP that I just sort of forgot about, is now selling due to BOM. So one just never knows.
  20. As far as I know unless things have changed, in order to get the mesh kits, you need to contact the mesh body creator and apply to get one. And that can take some time. But without the kit to give you the weights etc. proper rigging is pretty much impossible.
  21. yup a whole lot of us are affected by this change in what is no longer in Photoshop. Many of us are outraged at the fact that we are now paying full price for something that has become less than it was before.. as for Substance a whole new program(s) that they are charging for another subscription price.. It sucks but we have a choice as to whether to pay for yet another subscription and continue to pay for a lesser Photoshop program or find something else for 3D.. There are many many comments on the Photoshop forums regarding this. If you only need for 3D and rigging might I suggest Blender, as I know a lot of folks in SL use it. Personally I use ZBrush to create in 3D, but I still need Blender to rig as ZBrush does not offer that ability or allow for saving in .dae format. And I must admit, for me it is more bother than I am willing to put into it so I just quit making my own mesh.
  22. Interesting, I have been making some BOM shirts so far just T shirts and tanks, but you have given me an idea.. Keep in touch in PM. We can talk.
  23. I will use either .png or .tga depending on what I am making. My preference is .tga especially for things like tattoos; using the alpha layer technique it produces cleaner and sharper edges. As for size if it is a small texture I use either 512 or 1024, I generally try both and end up using the one that looks best, if they are pretty much the same on the finished product I will go with the 512 otherwise it's 1024. Interestingly I messed up one time and was not paying attention to the size of the map I was working on and just went ahead and uploaded it to SL. Realized after that it was actually 2048, and when I uploaded it, SL changed it to 1024. I was expecting them to decline the upload but they didn't they just changed it automatically.
  24. I have had about enough of this thread and after I finish this comment I am going to Unfollow it... The bottom line here is simple: Some creators are out to make extra money on fat packs by offering certain colours they do not offer in a single, hoping folks will give in and pay for the fat pack. It is a business practice to make more Lindens for themselves. I pisses people off.. OK then just do NOT buy those fat packs or from those creators. Eventually if they don't sell any they will get the message. And no LL is surely not interested in making rules about something like this.. they have their hands full just keeping SL working!
