  1. This is a brilliant idea that I certainly could use as well, I have 17 years worth of stuff, and it would really be nice to see it instead of guessing or trying to remember what is what. This might be a suggestion that could be passed on to LL for future consideration. Not sure how that could be done but someone must have some insight into that. At the moment the best I can come up with is have a picture in the folder of the item.. it helps some but still.
  2. a lot of stores in SL are secret and not by choice, but because there are so many stores of all sorts in SL, you have to be big, loud, and gang busters on marketing to get noticed! My store has been around for 17 years and still very few know about it. I am not a marketing genius nor am I pushy so for the most part my store is a sort of secret lol. As for your question, I did not even know there was a store called the secret store lol.. What does/did it sell?
  3. Not sure what you mean by Clothing Affiliate Programs?
  4. I don't know much about men's clothing, but If you rezz the not full perm pants on the floor, then go into edit, check the box that says link ythen click on the pants again, and look in the general tab you will see who the original creator is. If they make full perm items you could see what they have.. If not well at least you tried.
  5. a little bit of fun with this BOM & Mesh mix up. We have a Mesh Top (by Indigenous) and under it we have a BOM double undershirt (by Indigenous) also BOM Leather Pants (by Indigenous). Paired up with an old style belt (by Earthstones) and mesh boots (by Maitreya) I find it loads of fun to mix and match BOM and Mesh clothing, you can create so many unique and creative outfits that way. I do it all the time. BOM is a trend that is slowly gaining in SL and for those of us who use it, know that it can be used in so many creative ways.
  6. What a fun idea! I recently passed my 17th Rezz Day, so you can imagine the size of my inventory! My downfall is hair, and shoes, not so much outfits or clothing items. If I get time I will see what I can come up with.
  7. I have been making clothes for ladies (mostly) in SL for 17 years now. I am Not one of those huge attracting stores, not a big name. I am not a part of any of the huge or popular event venues so my work is not seen by a lot of people. I do have a group for my brand, but it is not all that large. I have used Bloggers at times over the years, and have had some rather disturbing experiences with some of them. There are a few Bloggers that I trust to show my clothing in a positive and attractive light, but they are not big name Bloggers either. They are, for the most part folks who are in it for the artistic pleasure it gives them to create a good Blog. I provide the outfits etc. for them so they don't have to put out the $$, I figure it is a fair trade off, I provide the outfit and they in turn produce a pleasingly artistic image of my work. IF I am honest about what I see in Blogs, I have to say there are very few I actually like. One of the smaller events I do participate in, requests that we use a blogger and and this is where I ran into those unfortunate experiences I mentioned before. I had a situation where my designs were shown up on a model with a way, way, way, distorted body shape which made that particular outfit look goofy. She had also used a way busy background so you had to look past all that to even see the outfit. I had patrons actually IM me asking why I would allow my fashions to be presented in such a horrible way. So I quit using Bloggers and took up doing my own photos and posting them on Flickr for a long time until I was approached by a fairly new Blogger, who sent me links to her work, and offered to Blog for me. I liked what I saw so I do use her now in addition to my own Flickr page. I see a lot of Blogs, and there are only a handful of tasteful Blogs that I feel represent the outfits well. A lot of them are "Trendy" in that they try stuff like sideways shots so you have to crane your neck to even see the outfit properly; not wasting my time looking at those. My point here is that if you Blog for the artistic pleasure, and you get some satisfaction from doing it for yourself, then you are likely to produce some good Blog work. Try approaching some of the lesser known brands, and you may find you do not have to put out a lot of Lindens for clothing at all.
  8. I am not so sure that is true. I have a kit that I applied for a few years back, if I recall it was not a very cumbersome process. I simply went to the website, filled in the application, answered all the questions asked of me, and waited about two weeks for the kit.
  9. Not sure why this question was posed here, given that in SL we all have options for hair colours that are really unusual, bright, different, rainbow, you name it. But nice way to show off your avatar.
  10. I don't know about others but anything I have seen is always clear: Lara is the original, and Petite is just what it says Petite. If Petite is not listed in the sizes then it isn't there if it just says Maitreya alone then it is the original Lara. Folks just have to pay attention.
  11. Rather ambitious project. Sounds like you are talking about BOM shirts as opposed to mesh. I would like to see a few creators, do some new mesh templates for T shirts in sizes that reflect what the market is using these days. The ones that are out there are pretty outdated in terms of available sizes.
  12. as far as I know the TMP body is a totally different body than the Legacy although yes made by the same creators. TMP has pretty much faded out as far as new clothing items are concerned but Legacy body clothing is all over the place. When searching on MP when you put in key words do not use TMP in the search line, I would just use Legacy if it is Legacy you are after.
  13. Since we are talking about Fashion Events opening in SL, I thought I would add this one. Aug.6 through 31 we have Evil Bunny Productions "Fable" event going on, check it out here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Grumble/111/35/21 Might be some new finds for some folks.
  14. Yes they do, in which case they are stuck with what ever the original full perm mesh maker decided to rig. Sometimes it is their own perception of what is popular or good to rig for, and sometimes it is based on their own personal preferences. Which does not always match up with what the end designer's patrons are looking for.
  15. ZBrush has loads of instruction on how to use the texturing feature, or you could check out ZBrush Central and see what is in the forum there. And when you get it figured out don't forget to save the texture maps and bring them into SL too. You need the map of the mesh as well, if you have that saved you can texture that in photoshop and apply it in SL.
  16. I love BOM, I don't like to be too exposed so a BOM undergarment is perfect. In fact I include a BOM under shirt, tank, cami, with all my revealing tops I sell, just to give folks the option of using it or not.
  17. Nope, I do not think so. Although I am capable of making my own mesh clothing, I chose not to; mainly because I do not have the time or patience to transfer my files to Blender from ZBrush just to get it rigged and uploaded in the correct .dae format. I rather enjoy using pre made mesh templates, I do not use the textures that might come with it, because I see the templates as a blank canvas upon which I can paint, and decorate, that is what I enjoy doing most. I have been around SL for 16 years and I do have a pretty fair customer base. I have one mesh template creator that I have bought from for ages, but lately she has stopped Freya. Thankfully she still includes Maitreya. I can tell you that if my customers do not see Maitreya in my store, they would certainly let me know about it in clear terms. And I would lose sales for sure and maybe even loyal customers. Not a risk I would want to take, just to indulge a possible fad or flash in the pan.
  18. I do not trust a hud that you have to go to an outside server to use, to make changes and adjustments to my body. Interestingly enough, this company's demise with it's first bodies was was partially do to cost; and everything being off site on the web, plus poor service and difficulty getting dev kits to make the clothes for it. As part of their design was that folks would buy the clothes they were offering in their so called shop, and even that was an offline base, expensive and very few choice of designs. The one thing I believe is that Maitreya is tried and true; updates well worth the wait when they came, and I do not see any reason to believe they will not continue to update as they see fit, and pass that along to their customers. I will take tried and true any day, over new and trendy (fad) or a rebirth of a failed product.
  19. Old is ok as long as it's still good which Maitreya is. New does not always mean better, lots of times it just means "trendy" or just something new. And just because something may be so called "labelled" as outdated, does not mean it is.
  20. Making a statement perhaps? or perhaps they have not applied for or received a kit from Maitreya? I haven't noticed this myself, but then I am not an avid shopper either. I have noticed that some mesh clothing template makers have stopped Belleza all together. And most just do Freya. But I agree with you 35% of potential sales is a lot of loss for a business.
  21. I still see this thread as just another way to sneak in some advertising, maybe not for the person posting but certainly for the creator of the outfits featured here. The posts are reading more like blog entries than what I would expect appropriate for a forum like this.
  22. I had a style that looks very much like that It seems to be missing from my inventory, but I know that Argrace did several like that a few years back.
  23. I recall this thread and it's disappearance. I suspect the reason was that it was a potential for some, to use it as an advertising forum which of course is not allowed here.
  24. I like my shoes to match my outfit for sure, but I am not big on handbags or purses in SL, I know they are popular accessories but I have never felt the need for them. Sometimes a hand bag can be pretty silly looking, I saw a lady at a formal dance, her handbag kept poking through her partner as they danced, looked pretty silly.
  25. well, since I am one who does not like the look of boobs peeping under my tops, nor am I a fan of low pants and skirts, of the choice given I would take the one on the right of the screen as you look at it. Skirt is a bit lower but not horribly so. And I like the denim of the skirt better on it.
