  1. When I first started in SL, I accepted TP's without knowing who or where... I learned quickly where that usually led. It takes all kinds, as they say, but some people really make ya wonder. I was also a lot more concerned with privacy back when I first started. I would cover my windows so no one could see me changing clothes, and then I learned how easy it is to cam inside anyone's house and the illusion of privacy didn't mean much anymore. Now, when I enter a club / large gathering - everyone is basically naked for the first 40 seconds+ .... so, there doesn't seem to be a reason to worry about it so much. It is what it is. Now, I change clothes in my house with the windows open -- it's not like I have something special to look at. LOL
  2. See, now I find that odd and maybe a bit rude. Wouldn't they have to go out of their way to invade your privacy up there? I see both sides of the issue, when it comes to roads, water ways and flying around mainland ... but the sky? Unless their land is right next to yours, I can't think of an excuse to be flying around 2000 feet in the air.
  3. @Orwar As I said, " I guess letting people put their own house would be too hard to manage and keep a theme going. I'll just take the added LI allowance " But as @Mollymews said, "Linden do create themed mainland areas, like Bay City, Nautilus, etc. as you are aware. What happens is that people who do move into these areas do tend to build in a way which is consistent with the theme one day when LPDW have finished building out Belli then they might start doing more themed mainland areas i think that one of the keys to themed mainland areas is the region restriction preventing parcel joining and subdivision. Can own more than one parcel in the area, just can't chop them up as there are relatively few of these themed mainland areas then you are right, they can be relatively expensive to purchase. Not sure what the price tipping point would be, on the growth line of more themed areas" Bottom line.... It was JUST an idea, I realize and stated that it might not be doable. Molly's comment was spot on! @Luna BlissProbably you just can't see that...some people can't see the forest for the trees...and some can't see the trees for the forest. A balance is always nice. I see that mainland, aside from areas like Bay City etc., is very hodgepodge - which prompted me to say, it would be nice to have an affordable alternative. Again, I admitted it may not be feasible. It was just my humble opinion about what I would like and be willing to pay for, thought... I think @Istelathisis correct.... "I don't think there are enough people that will pay for a fee much higher than around the $200 USD mark for them to put that much effort into creating new regions for members, as well as change the settings for upload fees."
  4. Yes, but ... people build all kinds of ugly stuff on Mainland - large glowing things in the air... and a good slice of mainland is really really expensive... I guess letting people put their own house would be too hard to manage and keep a theme going. I'll just take the added LI allowance
  5. Linden land I can put my own house on and more prims/LI allowance --- I would pay for more prims!!
  6. I've been thinking about hanging out at The Forum Cartel again, and inviting anyone I see who is looking for friends. Feel free to send me an IM when I am online. I'm not online a lot, but hopefully enough to make some new friends.
  7. I have a long way to go in the decorating department, and I always! - run out of prims.....
  8. Cute! Might go over a little better, if you all were sitting around a campfire on the beach or something. 😉
  9. Those are the ones I usually run into .. since I can not drive a car or a boat in SL, but still try from time to time. It's a shame there isn't a way to fix the problem and still allow people to feel they can have their privacy. This is obviously a subject people are very passionate about. I've flown into more than my share of ban lines and security orbs, etc. I never mean to intrude, but I don't want to "see" all the ban lines - so I have them turned off. So, I live with it.
  10. Bless your heart. Many of us had to find out the hard way, SL is a very "tricky" place to have a relationship. Some people are very successful at it; but most are not. Most important thing of all, don't take it personally. You simply haven't met the right person. There are a LOT of flaky - less than genuine - people behind some of those avatar (alts), and they forget, or do not care that they hurt people. To them it's just a game. Best of luck to you!
  11. Personally, I wish I could buy more prims for my Linden Home. I am not very good at decorating, and tend to need more. I know, I can buy or rent land and get a lot more, but I just want a small amount... anyway... That's just me. I do think yours is a good idea and would be beneficial to people who can't afford the $99 USD a year + tax 😉 It's always nice to have options!
  12. Story of my life LOL ... Thank you! I will wait and keep an eye out.
  13. I finally abandoned my mainland, so I could grab a stilt house --- alas, from what I see, they are all gone! ETA: Does anyone else just sit there and refresh the page every once in awhile hoping a new selection will pop up?
  14. hahahah... omg, so sorry !!! There is another thread about food. My bad! I'll be more careful.
  15. That is wonderful !! Kudos to The Netherlands. I do not want to sound like a whiney brat about paying taxes, but I do not think the US spends our tax dollars very wisely or for the benefit of the whole community. Corruption is high and personal gain is a priority for the lot of politicians here. Again, this is just MY opinion. I am sure there are many that would disagree.
  16. Government is government to me. I don't care to debate this issue, I'm too lazy. I did google it.... I know I have (for whatever reason) been taxed on a refund - and to ME that is double dipping. In general, state and local income tax refunds are taxable if the refunded tax was deducted in a prior year and you received a tax benefit from the deduction. Refunds are partially taxable if your itemized deductions last year exceeded your standard deduction by less than the amount of the refund.
  17. Oh, I was talking about the fact they tax us when we make it, they tax us when we spend it ... If I over pay taxes and get a refund, they tax that a second time. The government (in the USA) is greedy and inefficient. I'm sure there is a whole department looking for more things to tax. (shrugs) Just my 2 cents, nothing more.
  18. I blame the government, always looking for another place to dip their wick ... double dipping as often as possible.... greedy ba$tar'd$..... It won't change anything for me ... I'll spend what I can afford, just like I do now.
  19. I'm the purple unicorn, visiting the wild animal park.
  20. With all due respect, I must say this made me laugh! Second Life is a hoot!! Especially fun, when you first start out. If you are not laughing yet, give it time - you'll look back and laugh for sure!
