Many years ago, I wanted an avatar that looked just like Michelle Pfeiffer. I looked everywhere... and finally paid someone to make one. The custom skin/shape combo did not look much like Michelle Pfeiffer, and I have never seen one that does. More recently, I was looking for one that looked like GOT, Khaleesi ..... didn't find that either. I'll be interested to see if you can find one this way.

It's good to accept everyone for who they are... big, small, heavy, tall...... etc etc.... Sometimes, society (not specifically talking about SL at the moment)... tends to over correct. For a very long time, skinny was the only thing that was acceptable in fashion. Now, they have finally begun to recognize that the entire population is not a size 2, and so in some cases --- the grief that was given to the full figured folks - is being redirected to those who just happen to be slim. It would certainly be nice if we could fix a problem without creating a new one, but again... we tend to over correct. I'm told it will eventually even out and be better. I'm not convinced. Meanwhile, just be you. In the end, that's all we can really do anyway. Nice thing about SL ... you can be just about anything you want to be!

Several years back, the person I was dating tried to "influence" my appearance quite a bit - but failed overall. I tend to change my look often, and half the fun of SL is playing with my dollie.

To answer the OP, I doubt I would ever notice someone's hands are really small - unless as others have said - if a friend asked me to look at them specifically. @Scylla Rhiadra, Your post is spot on! I often change from human to cat, to elephant, to something else. I am always looking for fun avatars to try, for that very reason. Depending on mood, human can be boring (for me).

I did that for a quite awhile... up and down... trying to find "just right". I would go one place and be the shortest avatar in the room, and go somewhere else and look like a giant. LOL I'm 5'5" in real life, but that is exceedingly short in SL. I usually set my avatar from 5' 6" to 5' 8" now... looking for a happy medium. Good to know, I'm not the only one.

I'll talk to anyone, as long as they are nice enough / polite - friendly ... etc. ETA - "perfect" is relative imho....

Interestingly, for the first time - in my new Linden home - I feel like my furniture is proportionality large. Some of it, I can edit and scale down - but my kitchen table can't be modified - and is it just me, or do I look rather small sitting there? My AV is 5' 6" or there abouts....

I always prefer ground level with a view of sunrise or sunset. I find it quite beautiful.

Alas, Maddy -- you are by far -- a more interesting conversationalist than I am.

Oh, I don't mean if you send someone an IM ... I meant, you go to a club and a few people say hello and then you become a wall flower. Even when you try to join the chat --- if there is any --- it is often just a few people, going on about something between them - like a private joke. Not all places are like this, but in my experience (which is all I have to go by) --- just because a place is "hot" doesn't necessarily mean it's friendly. I actually look for smaller groups. People at less popular clubs seem to be more friendly and chatty and less cliquish. As always, it's only my 2 cents.

Beware ... just because a place has 30 avatars does NOT mean people will be friendly or chat with you.

I laugh at any kind of humor --- if it strikes me as funny... I asked Alexa to tell me a joke last night ... it was so NOT funny.....

Good point! I also think, most do not like random IM's from strangers or unsolicited friend requests ... most of the people who send those never end up being friends. Places like Helping Haven are the best places to meet people when you are new, but like you said - many of them are builders - and don't have time to type!
