  1. I find it great, as merchant and customer. No failures yet (not that I ever had many). It's easy to post stuff off to my store; no more hanging around the magic box, waiting for it to change colours. One of my rellies is miffed however, as being a breedables seller, she's stuck with the old box still. Despite receiving LL emails teling her it's time to make the switch.
  2. And here I was thinking the Wiki was a dry (albeit occasionally useful) document.

  4. The shadow images can be used as a base to add your own texture layer and colourings to. What I do is use one as the background layer, and then make patterned textures in additional layers, adding colour as I go. I set them to multiply, and tweak opacity to get the balance needed. Save-as, flatten, and upload.
  5. Sort of along the same lines (and I really like Rolig's solution), the script I use calls on the object/s by name, and their prim names, so won't work with other named objects. Like you, I sell my items copy/mod/no trans....but sometimes they include copy/no mod/no trans scripts. I make the scripts copy because otherwise it would defeat the purpose of the object being copiable. I can appreciate why you want your special feature to remain unique to your product line. Best of luck
  6. Don't forget the College of Scripting in Horsa er Rolig, you got it...now I feel like an idiot...heheh /me slinks off... You guys are too fast.
  7. I cannot agree more about trying demos. Especially when so much styling is used to sell something so simple and easy-to-make-yourself as a shape. It's very easy to look at photos and think "wow I want to look like that" when really what's impressing you are all the things not included for the $1500, which is a lot of money for what you would be actually getting. Go and grab a heap of skin demos, and have some fun playing with shape using your appearance mode sliders. And Penny's guide is great for helping you get the basic realistic proportions down first, if realism is what you would like. You can just keep saving versions and reworking them, so don't be scared to have a go Edited to add that every shape can be worn with mesh.
  8. I often wish that SL time (and date) showed on our account page. I'm often logged in there when not inworld, and it would be extremely handy to those of us in weirdie time zones.
  9. Plus, they have no way of seeing what's in your inventory. They would have an infinite number of these outfits anyway, so don't "need" them back. As long as you aren't running about griefing sandboxes in their logo, why should they care?

    Hat hair?

ETD used to make just bangs for the front of her hairs, and they could possibly be good for hats too if she still sells them. I like using a good hair tattoo as well, just so it's not obvious that hair is missing under the hat. I make hats with hair included, but they might not suit the style you are after, not being hoodies. Oh and I just realised you're a bloke, so you would definately look weird in them, lololol. Amethyst's way sounds the most painful (if you don't love editing until your fingers bleed like some of us), but is the best way. It's nice to pop a copy of each modified hair into the hat folder.
  11. I'd appreciate it being mentioned in the group as well as here. Hell, we all had to listen to heaps of crap in that group today, and your announcement would have been welcome.
  12. Yes, I agree....I have a whole legion of alts, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. There are a pile of reasons why alts are useful to have which have nothing to do with anything malicious or dodgy. Perhaps they got a bad name because a few people used them in the past to create intrigues, but if you aren't doing that then why do you care what people say. I've never had any issues with mine, nor been accused of anything, nor should anyone care. And the "mute/ban/ignore/move on" advice is very wise. SL is a huge enough world to go and find another place to be.
  13. A thought- Wouldn't it be good if clothing/shoe designers included the alpha texture for their items along with the alpha system layer. This way, we could make our own combinations on a single layer. I had to do this last night, as I needed alpha masking on the top of my body (which I'd already made myself), and wanted heeled shoes as well. In Phoenix, this can't be done, as one layer must be sacrificed. The solution was to make my own foot alpha, so that I could combine alphas from upper and lower body in appearance mode. Granted, this only works if you are combining textures from seperate body areas, like a 'head' with 'lower body' or 'upper body'. So combining eyelash and teeth alphas which are both on the head layer couldn't be done inworld; you'd have to combine the layers in Photoshop and re-upload.
  14. I have the same issue, as I'm using mainly Phoenix which doesn't allow texture/alpha layer overlaps. So it's one at a time when it comes to layers. It's not much of an issue until you wish to wear shoes and mesh clothing which both require alphas. I tend to hop between viewers, using the official one when I wish to swan about with many alphas. Must try the Cool VL Viewer one day. Thanks
  15. Another option is to find either flats, or wedge heels, as they don't neccessarily need alpha layers or invisiprims.
  16. I use Slink hands, and think they're quite nice. There are a few issues with the wrist joint, as that must be carefully dealt with, but I just use them if I'm wearing long sleeves with a cuff. Editing to add that the nails are lovely, realistic, and very customisable. They are way nicer than any nail sets I've seen.
  17. Hi Cindy. If you are really keen on selling shapes, but not skins, you can always supply a styling card telling customers how to achieve the entire look. I create and sell jewellery along with other accessories, and think that it's as much 'trouble' as you want it to be. This is entirely up to you. It does take effort to make a profit in such a competitive area, but it's a great deal of fun, and creatively very fulfilling. The nice thing is that you can do what you wish on your own time schedule, and set your own goals and direction. You might make more money being employed in SL on the short term, but in the longer term I think it might be better to invest in your own thing, if you have the creative drive. Neither is going to make you uber rich though. Just have fun

A great new feature to add to that wind is a customer triggered 'Redeliver Product' button under My Account - Order History (for copy items only). And while customers are in there some might even stumble upon the 'Review Product' button. That's a very sensible idea. In fact, customers should be forced to view this feature before leaving a bad review for non-delivery.
  19. I like a pretty vase of kitty willows. And t1ts in the garden. This prudish madness has got to stop.
  20. /me runs past and gives all the sensible people in this post a great big hug for restoring her faith in human sense.

When do we get a new leader? we dont need a new "leader" !!! we need to take SL over & run it as a non-profit user owned cooperative this dom/sub mindset must be so deeply ingrained in the heads of people .. or are they sheep? .. that they cant even think beyond it ~sheesh~ Jeanne This is hilarious. As you so frequently point out virtual land is server space not land and if you don't pay your rent for your server space it gets shut down and the land goes poof. Even if this were not the case, forcing a company to turn over their major asset through intimidation and blackmail or ruining them this way is illegal. You are not an employee and LL provides a service that is strictly optional and not a life necessity. If you don't like it you can leave as no one is forcing you to be here. You have no basis for any sort of justification of this. Why do you never put your money and effort where your mouth is and start such a Utopia since the software is available for free? I'll tell you why. You would have nothing to contribute to such a thing. You have no skills You would have to rely on other people putting time and money into it just so you can be entertained for free. Even if such a thing was possible and SL became some communist utopia, you would still be ranting against and insulting the people who do contribute time effort and money who do provide all the things you have for free, just as you do now in SL. I have nothing against people enjoying SL without spending money or learning skills to use to contribute to the community as long as they are not hypocritical enough to turn around and bite the hand that feeds them at every opportunity like you do under the guise of some lala dream that all people have to do is think your way and all the problems would be solved. . Can I have your babies...this is what I tried to suggest 5 or so pages back, ineffectually, but I'm not good at this stuff. You do it way better. This person continues to **bleep** me off no end as she has no concept of community, or even endeavour. She invests nothing, and expects everything. She asks us to stop doing all the things we do to make SL what she wants it to be, and expects to continue to enjoy it for free. Hugggs to you, Amethyst.

JeanneAnne wrote: if we organized a tier strike we would have LL by the ballz .. theyd either sell SL to us for a song or give it to us .. they might as well since we'd drive em bankrupt if they didnt :catwink: but then i guess youd rather just bend over to your corporate overlords ... Jeanne Who's this "We", whiteman? You happily spend nothing in SL, (as is rightfully your wont), and so pay no tier and have nothing to lose, having contributed nothing materially. But the people you are telling to 'strike' are those who have made SL the place that you enjoy today, and they have much to lose. As would you if this were to happen. Get real.
  23. I appreciate both forums, and visit each one, daily. Both have their trolls, all avoidable, and both also have some great people who are very helpful. SLU is a lot more active than this forum, and retains more older SL residents with a huge knowledge pool. It's a real asset to have. Sometimes, less moderation makes for free-er and more valuble discussion. And those at the SLU who aren't there for genuine reasons will often be sniffed out pretty quickly and played with a bit. People there have memories, I guess. I can't really comment on your post there or here, Boudicca, as I generally keep out of politics. Nor can I comment on whether or not you stand out like you claim and are particularly disliked...as I have never noticed, to be entirely honest. Heheh perhaps that does count as a comment Anyway, I'm one you'll find in both forums, and like others, I'm the same maturity in both. You won't find me being ruder or politer in one or the other. Hopefully I'm more the latter.
