  2. I'd watch...possibly....if the OP volunteered to sit through 30 mins of Australian political propoganda and agreed that it might also open their eyes. But I have no interest, frankly.
  3. That's interesting, Bree. There are also these. They have a site where you can make your own little doll/avatar, and have it printed as an actual doll.
  4. Hmm...Were you dancing at the time..and had all your clothes actually rezzed at the time the stranger sent you the money? Just covering all the angles here. Joking, obviously.....but Innulas advice was sensible
  5. Melita Magic wrote: Only other thing I can say to your post is that I can't stand Pay Pal for many reasons. I wish places would find some other way. Oh I agree with you, Melita, on this. PayPay have pulled too many nasty stunts on its users too many times, and I resent being forced to use them. Plus all they do is hold onto my money for an extra week, then charge me for the priveledge. I wish we could use an international pre-paid cc, and cash out by having LL deposit directly into it. -- The easier it is for people to make their transactions, the better it is for all SL users. Merchants would never want LL to make this process harder for anyone. And as someone who is both an SL resident and merchant, I wish LL would listen to me and tailor things to my needs. But they don't necessarily do so as I'm just one of the however-many users, with no special powers.
  6. I've only modelled a bit for fun, for friends, and have no way to tell you where to go to learn...but as a designer I hope you learn how to adjust prims on yourself to make them fit. If I hired models to work for me, that would be the one first skill I'd need them to have. (That and not be invisible pony riders who look all miserable.) I think it might be really hard to get the connections needed to get work. I hope someone here can help you Good luck, zivaah
  7. It's wise to never accept these objects, and never ever rezz them in an area where scripts can run. I know this object is spreading itself around SL atm, and have had to deny it a few times in sandboxes. What I'm suspecting, after 5 years in SL, and having had similar objects pop up into the SL consciousness every few weeks or so, and having endured 5 years of group chats, group notices, all warning of these objects is that the object is not the spam. The anti spam message is the spam. That is what the "virus" is..it's waves of "DO NOT REZZ THIS OBJECT SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL OF YOUR GROUPS" messages that hit us repeatedly during our time inworld. Honestly, during a day of doing work in SL, I hear them constantly, and they all follow this pattern, and they never end. Next month the object will be called something different, but it will be just as evil, will also bludge all your beer and make your fridge frost over so your carrots go all squishy, and we will all endure the group warnings all over again, and all be told to pass on the message. People are spending time and brainspace passing on this message, and I've done it too. The amount of time we spend with the message is actually quite a lot when you consider multiplying it over all the people who are working away quite productively, keeping one eye on a few group conversations, and next thing it's OMG NASTY SCAMMING OBJECT TIME, and everything goes out the window for the next 5 minutes. I have never ever ever met anyone who has lost anything from one of these objects, although the stories circulating always quote some close friend who lost their house and dog. Somebody I'm sure will come along after me and tell me I'm awful because they do know somebody who was an actual victim from the actual object. I have suspicions that the creator of the object starts the message off, and laughs as every good and honest person in SL passes on the message. I am not at all criticising you, JJ, for posting this, as you are well meaning and intelligent and want us to avoid harm. But thats what the virus relies upon. Our niceness, and wish to help.
  8. This answer may not be entirely helpful, but I'll have a go at it......You could use group roles, so that merchants and customers are in different roles. Merchants could then make group notices by a certain deadline, and only the customer group would receive them. Another suggestion...One group I know of does weekly sales. Merchants drop their submissions in as notecards to an inworld dropbox, and this has a cut off time which allows the group owners to collect and compile them. I believe that they still have to sort them by hand onto their own single group notice, and this would be a fair amount of copy/paste work. I'll keep my eyes open for you.
  9. Imagine having animations sorted at least into still poses, pose props, moving animations and gestures. Even this would help enormously.
  10. I'm sorry this keeps happening to you, and I know how frustrating it is. I've been sailing a lot recently in the Blake Sea with few problems (touch wood), and you are definately trying to fly in the right spot. I don't know what is causing your plane to be deleted, but some possibles are- -you may be flying off the actual sea, and into "non sea" areas that look like sea from above, but if you check your map, they are flat blue rather that textured. This means they arent really areas connected to any server, -you may be flying into private parcels with either banlines or object entry turned off, or with security orbs, -you may have a lot of scripted attachments that are making sim crossings dodgy. I'm planning to start compiling a folder of landmarks for rezzing a boat in, as it can be hard, especially if you like hopping out and exploring, and then can't re-rezz a vehicle. It's harder for a plane, I know, unless it is a seaplane. Do you know Santa Catalina Airport? It's a great place to fly from
  11. Here I am, wondering if "Mountain Lion" is some obscure holiday location with dodgy internet connections. I obviously have some googling to do.
  12. Laughing...yes!..and I still do a bit of a happy wiggle inside each time I make a sale.
  13. Sorry, Marianne, I had a completely crappy time trying to reply to you with an image. I hate these forums I still doubt whether my words will turn up with the photo. Anyway, I'll repeat and say that I have a weird-shaped head, and I hate hair shopping. But this hair is fantastic. It's sold by D!va, and is the best to suit my weirdie head. It will also suit non-weirdie heads, I'm sure Woo ...its great hair, but does eat into my cheeks a bit when my ao gets extreme ( I took this photo at the worst point, which is probably not too bad) Also, it doesn't react well with my prim lashes, as there's alpha fighting, so I ditched my lashes and used makeup- tattoo layers instead. This is brilliant hair. Everything else I say is just silly. see...now you know why i never got a job in sales Buy this hair. It looks ok on my stupid-shaped head
  14. Yup. If one folder up the OP has a folder of bacon/eardrums, huge flourescent pink phalli and party streamers....then I really want to meet them.
  15. Heheh.."What Not to Wear" sounds bad, but it's not. It was a pretty good fashion show in Britain, founded by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine. They met while squiffy at a dinner party, hated each other immediately, then made a great friendship and successful enterprise as fashion advisors. Their telly show/s was/were a hit, and helped loads of British ladies rediscover their feelings of personal worth, while giving Susannah a chance to cop a feel of each woman's bum while announcing "yeaah pretty firm no cellulite here". They ended up taking the show to other countries (Australia loved them when they turned up to make sure we all were wearing proper fitting bras, and even I was guilted into going in for a proper measure-&-fit at my local lingerie store). Looks like there's an American offshoot, and I'm not surprised. I'd like a chance to see the SL episode....the promo is quite positive, but it sounds like the whole episode tells another story.
  16. Marigold Devin wrote: /me chuckles. I actually thought you were going to reprimand me for "spamming" Not at all. I believe you answered the OP's question the most efficiently
  17. Marigold...it sucks that I can't give you kudos for that.
  18. Oooh..is that........bacon? And I don't even want to know what those pink things are. Perhaps you could look through your local chat logs and see if anything in there gives a clue as to whose items these are. Clicking and inspecting objects is the best way to do it, as it gives the owner and creator, but I know how hard that can be to do under heat of fire. If the objects are reattaching, then there is probably something left over on the land belonging to the griefer. If it's your land, check the objects on it in the "about land" tab and see who has objects there. Phoenix viewer is helpful as it has an area search tool that locates prims based on name, and owner, so that you might be able to find the object, do an inspect on it, and find out more about it. Setting a short return time on the land will send this back to the owner, and stop it recurring (I hope). And mmmmm...baaaaacooooooon...
  19. Faye...I searched for "Hair Fair" (Everything) and got a lm to each sim. Perhaps it's a viewer difference? I know what you mean about the average visitor, who statistically doesn't read up on these things...Problem is that you can't start "educating" them at the actual event because that causes bad feeling more often than not. People are there to simply do their thing. Today, I also popped into One Voice, had forgotten to de-script first, and was sent home with a polite and clear dropdown message about de-scripting before returning. This was no issue, and within seconds I was back and all was smiley. But another avvy was booted every minute, and kept returning only to be booted again, so obviously there is a language barrier, or an unwillingness to read. After so many years of bloggings and forum threads, the average SL user today still doesn't know how to reduce their pull on sim resources, and so I doubt they ever will, or will even want to. Honestly, I mute anyone in the red before they get close enough to have to rezz fully, not because I don't like them, but just because I'd rather be rendering what I came to see first. In a perfect world, I'd prefer to see all visitors in full primmy splendour as well as everything else, and not have to take such an antisocial step. (editing to add that I'm not in the habit of muting...it's a short-term method to make it through the busiest events)
  20. I did go Fairing today, and found the first mesh hair I've ever demoed that looked not only acceptable but really fantastic on me (even if I do say so myself). So now I have it in a few colours. A couple of times the sim crossings needed a little patience, but all went very smoothly. This is odd, or maybe not so much odd, but despite joining the group, I still preferred to visit with each store to get a feel of the creator's style. Maybe later I'll rethink that, and sit down somewhere comfy and quiet and sift through more demos. It was nice to get off my buildy platform and join the great unwashed for once
  21. I've never met you, Eloise, but have often enjoyed your posts. Glad all is well, and best wishes with the move

Arelia Chau wrote: You forgot: "I have brought a dress/avatar/shoes/hair/skin but I only got a box where is my item?" ......and what a scammer this greedy merchant is as I paid good money for this dress/avatar/shoes/hair/skin n all i got was a lousy picture of the thing wats up with that they cant be allowed to get away with such a scam and last week i bought a house i thought looked really nice from the photo wich was all doctored up linden labs says we can have a house here and do anything we like for free but when i rezed it it said no i cant have a house here becoz its not aloud what a ripoff (sorry I should stop reading the forums and go do something constructive with my time )
  23. I notice that demo packs can be picked up before visiting, so that shoppers can hone their lists. Not a bad idea
