  1. Most AO's are copyable and each copy can have different animations in it. You may have attached an older copy of the AO that was sitting in your inventory instead of the one you placed the animations into. See if there are more copies of in in your inventory and then see if any of them have your animations.
  2. Someone should point out that the L$3000 top IS a full-permission top meant for other clothing makers to use as a base for their own work instead of being meant as an end-user product though.
  3. I don't use much mesh clothing and I think the major problem I have with it is a lot of it looks fine when standing still but the body will clip through it in many poses. Alphas aren't always a good solution because it's very difficult to make a precise alpha in SL so it often either doesn't cover all the problem spots or is visible (well, INvisible) outside the line of the clothing item. I actually think old-fashioned glitch layers would be a better solution than alphas in some situations but I don't see them provided that often. I know the standard SL avatar is badly rigged (although it's improved after the changes in STORM-1800 which are currently being used in the Dolphin viewer and hopefully will be widespread soon) but in the end the standard avatar is what mesh clothing is meant to cover so I'd like to see clothing rigged to follow it as well as possible.

  5. Depending on how many people are in your group already, it might be simpler to make a new group for the members who DON'T get building rights and make that the open enrollment group, and then eject the members who don't get rezz rights from the old group (with a nice note explaining what's happening) and invite them to the new group. Then you could change the old group to invite-only.

  7. Most pet makers keep track of the animals on a separate server system that they own and is sync'd to your account so they know who has it and where it is. What kind of access do they want?
  8. You jumped to conclusions by saying ti was because of Labor Day, which Hitomi then latched onto. It's being removed implies that it was there was something TO remove, which there wouldn't have been if it was due to an annual holiday.
  9. Griffin Ceawlin wrote: Theresa Tennyson wrote: Francis Marcellus Church ... It's Francis PHarcellus Church. The only remotely "churchlike" thing about him was apparently one of his paternal relatives lived near a church a few hundred years ago when last names started being invented. o.0 His father was a Baptist theologian who purchased The New York Chronicle, a religious weekly, where Francis was an editorial writer. As an amateur genealogist, I find this stuff fascinating. I also find fascinating the ability of people to make stuff up off the top of their head. Oops, made the same typo in my initial post but corrected it there. I was referring to the fact that Bree was assuming that the good editor was a religious institution. And, of course, when he wrote the editorial he was at the New York Sun, which was a gemeral-readership daily published by his brother. I'm also fascinated by people's ability to make things up off the tops of their heads. However, I personally try to refrain from it.
  10. The shore line was peaceful and flat, and the calm sea bumped it playfully along the sandy beach. In the distance a beautiful island covered with palm trees and flowers beckoned invitingly from the sparkling water. "Nothing can possibly go wrong now," cried the Humbug happily, and as soon as he'd said it he leaped from the car, as if stuck by a pin, and sailed all the way to the little island. "And we'll have plenty of time,'' answered Tock, who hadn't noticed that the bug was missing--and he, too, suddenly leaped into the air and disappeared. "It certainly couldn't be a nicer day," agreed Milo, who was too busy looking at the road to see that the others had gone. And in a split second he was gone also. He landed next to Tock and the terrified Humbug on the tiny island, which now looked completely different. Instead of palms and flowers, there were only rocks and the twisted stumps of long-dead trees. It certainly didn't seem like the same place they had seen from the road. "Pardon me," said Milo to the first man who happened by; "can you tell me where I am?" "To be sure," said Canby; "you're on the Island of Conclusions. Make yourself at home. You're apt to be here for some time." "But how did we get here?" asked Milo, who was still a bit puzzled by being there at all. "You jumped, of course," explained Canby. "That's the way most everyone gets here. It's really quite simple: every time you decide something without having a good reason, you jump to Conclusions whether you like it or not. It's such an easy trip to make that I've been here hundreds of times." "But this is such an unpleasant-looking place," Milo remarked. "Yes, that's true," admitted Canby; "it does look much better from a distance." As he spoke, at least eight or nine more people sailed onto the island from every direction possible. "Well, I'm going to jump right back," announced the Humbug, who took two or three practice bends, leaped as far as he could, and landed in a heap two feet away. "That won't do at all," scolded Canby, helping him to his feet. "You can never jump away from Conclusions. Getting back is not so easy. That's why we're so terribly crowded here." ---- excerpt from The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster We're going to have to wait for Tuesday to see what the story is. Given that there was discussion as to what would be promoted on Friday at the server meeting, that everyone knew that Labor Day was, well, Labor Day and that I can see no history of the Lab not running Tuesday rolls due to Monday holidays (i.e. they rolled the servers the Tuesday after Memorial Day) I'm a bit dubious about your assumption.
  11. The land allowance included in your premium account would be 512 square meters which will support 117 prims. Additional land will cost more per month - there are tables that describe it. If you want to open a club, bear in mind that since Mainland regions have to take into account the possibility dealing with avatars on other regions there is a limit of 40 avatars that can log into the entire region (i.e. 256 meter x 256 meter "named" area). If you open a club and it's successful you may quickly shut down the ability of any other lot in the region to have visitors and your neighbors will want you to die in a fire.
  12. Bree Giffen wrote: Yes. That church is talking non-sense. It's just another veiled attempt to get you to accept their fantasy. Appeals to the betterment of mankind to support beliefs that hold humanity hostage. Just because someone says 'this is tied to that' doesn't mean it's true. Do you believe it? Or do you help it along? Bree, that was a fascinating reply. Francis Marcellus Church was the editor of the New York Sun at the end of the 19th century. That was an editorial he wrote in response to a little girl's letter asking about Santa Claus - it's quite well-known in the United States. The only remotely "churchlike" thing about him was apparently one of his paternal relatives lived near a church a few hundred years ago when last names started being invented. The reason I find your response fascinating is that it certainly looks like your response was based much more on your personal pre-held feelings about organized religon after having a Pavlovian response to the word "Church" than an actual consideration of the written words. I'm having a hard time seeing that as "free thought."
  13. First of all, calm down. A pixel tree is not anything to get an ulcer over. Secondlly, right click on it and try selecting "Return." If the prims making up the tree are actually counting against yours you can definately return it; if they aren't (they will only count if the "root prim"* of the object is actually on your land) then you might be able to return it anyway. Thirdly, if that doesn't work several third-party viewers have a feature called an "Asset Blacklist" that will let you select an object and make it invisible FOREVER or at least until you take it off the list. If you're used to the standard viewer I can recommend a viewer called Dolphin, which looks and behaves very similarly to the standard viewer but has some additional features. _____________________ * I just realized that a tree having a "root prim" is sort of appropriate. Sorry, it's early.
  14. In over two years I'm sure you've learned a lot about getting around SL, maybe more than you realize. From the tone of your post I'm betting you're saying, "I really don't know that much." Compared to someone just starting out, though, you DO. New people join SL every day and need all sorts of help, and most of them come in here without having friends either. Try joining a group that helps new avatars or ask obvious newbies if they would like any help. At the least you'll be doing a good deed and maybe you'll meet some people you click with.
  15. It looks like his viewer got confused and applied the wrong textures to his face and eyes. It happens occasionally and should be fixed if he clears his cache.
  16. Bree Giffen wrote: Dillon, you are participating in the shared madness. Would you allow a person who has a lifelong belief in Santa Claus to judge you in your behavior? Would you allow this Santa Claus believer to speak with any kind of authority? How long before you eventually decide that you really need to just stop talking to this person. It's the exact same thing when a person says they believe in any other fantasy. I'm not saying we should treat them badly. I'm saying they should be politely excluded from any kind of serious conversation. So Bree, that means that Francis Pharcellus Church is talking nonsense? "DEAR EDITOR: I am 8 years old. "Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. "Papa says, 'If you see it in THE SUN it's so.' "Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus? "VIRGINIA O'HANLON. "115 WEST NINETY-FIFTH STREET." VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge. Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished. Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world. You may tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding. No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.
  17. When you see the "Magic Box" message you should be able to find the items you ordered in your "Objects" folder, as an orange cube with the name of the item. You will then need to drag that that item out of your inventory onto the ground in front of you (you'll need to be in an area that lets you "rezz" objects.) Right click on the item and select "Open", then when you see a list of the contents select "Copy to Inventory." After you do that you'll see a folder of the items in your inventory.
  18. My understanding is that all the versions of the viewer use the same OpenGL calls and the Window/Linux viewers have been supporting up to OpenGL 4.2 for months.
  19. Look in your "Lost and Found" folder and see if there's one object that looks like a broken orange Rubik's cube that has the name of ONE of your missing items. That would be all of your objects temporarily bundled together into one, which is what things look like when they're returned. You need to go to a sandbox or other area with plenty of space and where you have the ability to rezz things. Then rezz that bundle - it will automatically break up into the individual objects and you can take them back individually. If you don't see it, wait a day or so - sometimes the system is slow at returning things.
  20. Sigma Avro wrote: Region down, two days a week nearly! If it happens on week end , and you have some shops on it, or provide some services, your region will fast be deserted. Pay fees, be premium, there is no help on week end. If simulator is wrotten, no place that take your complains in consideration. Which serious enterprise or institution will cope with this ? Are LL planing to remove all private regions out of the game ? From the JIRA, I see that the sim you're having problems with is still on the old Pathfinding test release channel, PF RC. Since Pathfinding is now on the rest of the grid it looks like that channel isn't getting updates (the server version is 7.31 - the end of July) and may not be included in the regular restarts. Ask support to move it to one of the current channels.
  21. See if anything in this JIRA sounds familiar: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-8177
  22. What kinds of HUD's are they? I haven't seen any problems with my AO's but there's a minor glitch with some types of attachments giving out error messages on most of the grid. One HUD maker said he'd been having some sort of problems with it. That particular glitch should be fixed with the next server rollout on Tuesday.
  23. Alicia Sautereau wrote: Guys, give up... There is no point in debating anything with a relgion freak as they are always right and we are always wrong, no matter... When I look at what people are saying here, it's the athiests who are coming across as the most "fundamentalist."
  24. Right now pathfinding can only be turned off sim-wide. It can be done from any viewer by using a debug setting; the sim will need to be restarted. Pathfinding on or off doesn't seem to have much effect on performance - it's basically similar to turning scripts off but only for specific commands that very few things are currently using. All sims are currently running the server version that supports pathfinding. Is your skybox by any chance near the southwest or southeast corner of a sim with neighbors to the south? There's a known bug that causes a sim with neighbors to the southeast or southwest to be bombarded with repeated messages from those regions and it will cause bandwidth to skyrocket, which can hurt performance in other ways. The messages aren't directly connected with pathfinding and turning pathfinding off won't have any effect. There's a fix for this problem that's running on a couple of the test RC channels right now; it should be promoted to the rest of the grid on Tuesday assuming that no new problems on the RC channel turn up.
  25. Pathfinding's been on the entire grid for weeks. Anything that's going to break already has. They built in an automatic work-around for the old volume-detect hack. Prims that were set to "volume detect(true)" in existing linksets are automatically change to act as true phantom prims (which they WEREN'T before - phantom prims collide with the ground and volume detect prims don't.) For buildings this should make no difference. It DOES mess with vehicles, but changing vehicles over to mesh accounting is pretty painless because they changed the maximum prim equivalence for a vehicle to 64, meaning that the old maximum of 32 sculpys will still work as a vehicle if the parts with extreme physics costs are set to "none." The long version of the story is here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/PATHBUG-69
