If you can run a 64bit OS, you could try a linux distro like ubuntu, firestorm viewer has a linux viewer.. But getting back on to the topic, win 7 is currently "sunsetting". You can still use it, you just won't get updates or support anymore.

I wouldn't be at all surprised that SL is monitored and they can see what I am typing in, my isp certainly has the option to monitor and filter my connection, if they NEED to.

I'm not sure this has much to do with someone in SL knowing your IP address (which really has never worried me personally) but this is a vid about how to internet and vpn's work. Note.. has a paid advert in the vid, I have no connection with the company, or even use the product. (its only a dummies vid actually, most peeps already know this)

Just an rather odd question here. What if you had dynamic IP, instead of static? Dynamic IP changes each time you restart your device. Also websites know your IP address, even if you are on a proxy lol.

Hmm, just an addition to my comment above. I actually have 2 pcs that can go on secondlife, the one in question that had no group tab in the chat tab ( actually didn't have the group tab there at all), I did a full uninstall/reinstall of the viewer, and now it is ok. Strangely enough, the other pc just did an upgrade and it was ok. well anyway its all going well now.

Groups have gone missing from the chat tab, too, I mean just saying. Anyway, it seem my SL fps has remarkably improved with this newest FS viewer, but I will have to test that on a busy sim to properly find out.
