  1. Yah, I've seen the one without the fish. But I thought the fish was a nice touch!
  2. Here is Your Dreams kitchen on sale this weekend: And, Wrong has one of their straight wall kitchens (very low LI) on sale this weekend too. I think it's a black one?
  3. Hmmm...I think there's been some misunderstanding. Low prices and high quality are not mutually exclusive. But there are a lot of low-quality items selling at low, medium, and sometimes high price points.😁 And on the other hand some creators are really generous about offering high quality items as group gifts, event gifts, and on the weekend sales (and even promotional item on marketplace for really cheap! Maybe I'm just picky because of years of experience with Photoshop, but I can tell when someone has put the work into texturing a garment, whether it's their own original mesh or a mesh they purchased from another person. Personally if I'm going to spend even Linden micro-currency on an item, I want to use my money (and my voice) to encourage high quality work. I'm careful about not naming names regarding the low-quality stuff because I don't want to shame people and honestly they may not know any better because we all start at our own level, with our own amount of experience. And, I think there are a few factors that are hindering the market's capacity to "take care of it" as far as the low-quality creators. One of the most significant right now is that we are totally on event overload in SL, and in order to keep many of these events open and "fully stocked" , their organizers are accepting lower quality items.
  4. Garyll, I think you hit the jackpot there - cheap plus realistic texturing! Well, the jeans look a little photoshop-ish on the torso, but the overall denim texture is good, and you can't beat the price.
  5. Some pictures featuring items fro sales and events in the last few days... Typically-reliable Coco gives us a pipped jacket (with shirt and non-shirt options) and patch-pocket cropped jeans at Uber. The clogs are from Eudora 3D, also at Uber, and the hair is from Doux at Dubai This next photo is a combination of gifts and event items... These really nice pants, in a textured leather (maybe alligator?) really work the materials, so try turning on your higher quality graphic settings to see them in their full glory. They are available at The Fifty and are by Ascendant, The top is a free gift from Sorumin - I think it was at The Warehouse Sale but it might have been one of the Uber gifts. The shoes are from KC Couture and are one of their weekend special - typically a great deal because they are always fatpacks.
  6. Some more weekend sales items... If you're into an aquatic motif, this resin-poured coffee table from Free Bird might be right up your alley... InkMe takes a page from Your Dreams' releases and gives us a straight-wall kitchen with island on sale this weekend. Ironically, Your Dreams has a (different) kitchen on sale too!
  7. Evhah and Pitaya....that's a different collab. The couch and the fireplace are now on sale as well.
  8. Both Uber and The Warehouse Sale are having gifts for anniversary events, with some good items being offered. Joining the groups is required, but both groups are free to join. The Warehouse Sale has the gifts right at the event; Uber is a bit more challenging as most brands there either have gift boxes that only have a landmark in them, or a link to their landmark on their event booth. So you have to visit each mainstore, wearing the Uber Group Tag, to get the presents. Here's some of the apparel and accessories highlights: The Warehouse Sale Sorumin Ruched Crop Top, in Black/Dirt Brown Tie-dye print #error melon color mini-skirt Belle Epoque Clutch Mush Rose Leggings in Black - I think this was from TWS Uber True Damage Queen Skirt Eudora 3D Luna Earrings (coordinates with necklace at event) Dirty Princes Lust Baby Heels (white platform shoes) Mason Blue Fall Vibes Dress Mimicry Cotton Batiste Dress in light blue stripes Osma Tie-neck Crop Top (floral halter top) Giz Seorin sleeveless safari mini-dress Nerdio Karole's Set in white Blossom and Seeds Canada Dress Neve Jubilee skirt and blouse set Lybra platform sandals in navy Tram L0822 Hair Valentina E Ingrid Dress in Violet Mina Eefje Hair - one shade only (blond/pink ombre) A bunch of BOM makeup, lipstick from Glam Affair, eye shadows from The Skinnery, etc.
  9. The style focus where I've seen this happen...I'm not sure if there's an overall name for it, but think of the intersection of Asian Style, Cyber Punk, and Streetwear. So events that are Asian-themed are ones that these designers typically participate in - events like Harajuku, Tokyo Zero, Hondae. But some of these designers also participate in other events - especially "dark" themed, fantasy, cyber, sci-fi, role-play.
  10. ...and tats. Don't forget the tats. and the clothing that is basically slap-a-bright-solid-color on a full perm-mesh. The reason why many events are hurting is because there are way too many events, and once the event has been launched, the organizers are going to do what they can to fill those booths (or keep the numbers up for listings of mainstore events) and keep it alive.
  11. Considering the extreme curvy body shapes out there...
  12. ...and some of the Stilts on Land are actually on the edge of the water. To me, that's the best of both worlds.
  13. I'll just add that many times there is not a correlation between how good an item looks and the amount of LI. Good texturing adds so much to the quality of a home decor item. There are beds out there in SL that range from around 6 LI to 30 LI+. I made a list a while back of many beds under 10 LI and most of them were from well-known SL brands. For kitchens, a straight-wall single piece kitchen is typically lower in LI than a modular kitchen will be. For the modular kitchens, ask yourself if you really need doors that open and close on kitchen cabinets - if the cabinet doesn't have them, it may only be one LI. Same for the refrigerator, a non-openable one will typically be only one LI.Many of us pull kitchens out of Trompe Loeil homes. They are considered "prop" kitchens without animations but the LI is incredibly low and the texturing some of the best and most realistic in SL.
  14. Well...correct me if I am wrong about this, but applier shadows would be much better than BOM if you want a glossy look. First, they are higher resolution. Second...I think the designer can include materials?
  15. Right...it's worth trying one of each Linden home theme, just to get the content packs!
  16. I appreciate you not locking the thread as well, @Abnor Mole. And I really appreciate your willingness to interact with the community, even when the conversations are somewhat spirited.
  17. That is a good point about the new UV. I think it was even a challenge for Lelutka EvoX heads, when they started to be released. And Lelutka already had a strong user base. I think that with their existing popularity, it wasn't an insurmountable challenge to get some of the big vendors on board, especially when they started offering free upgrades to their older Evo heads.
  18. Items included on a limited time sale might be worth mentioning in the thread if it's a situation where the designer puts out similar items almost every weekend Example 1: Gupa typically has one or two skins at sale prices each weekend Example 2: KC Couture typically has 2 to 4 styles of shoes in the weekend sales, and they are always fatpacks at that low price.
  19. Even without an ARM port, the viewer runs much better on the Apple chips than the Intel/MacOS combo.
  20. Well, yes, sometimes they intersect, other times they do not An example, in my opinion of cheap (free!) and quality is Coco's group gifts, which is everything you see on those short black marble walls.
  21. Personally, I'd really rather the Trending thread focus on quality and design trends, not economy.
  22. colleen, it doesn't really bother me either - there are two distinct sets of skills needed for making SL clothing today, the mesh and the texturing. I really don't mind if they aren't done by the same person or even the same brand. I would say that the availability of full perm mesh does allow a lower skill threshold for entry as far Second Life clothing designers, but hopefully the market will shake out the folks that really aren't at a skilled level with the textures. I don't want to be discouraging, but there are a lot of folks creating clothing brands in SL now that really aren't at a professional level with their texture skills. We're on such event overload right now that a lot of those folks are getting visibility. Just to be clear, I'm not referring to people who are really trying and making progress on their skills, I'm talking about people who slap a color or fabric texture on a full-perm mesh object, don't add any detail or shading or materials, and then consider themselves a designer. That is one of the reasons why I started the "trending" thread...I want to see good work recognized. There is an educational aspect of that as well.
  23. I have mixed feelings about the idea of Maitreya entering the curvy body market. I wouldn't want them to take focus off improving their current body. I think there is still room in the marke for someone to come up with a more realistic curvy body. I doubt it would appeal to people who are purchasing the current curvy bodies, as they apparently prefer the really exaggerated body type (I'm sure there's some interesting psychology going on there!).
  24. Here are some of the gifts from the Fifty Linden Friday birthday event!
