  1. Hurray for a potential Newbrooke coast-to-coast river!
  2. I'd like to make a suggestion for the Second Life University topics - "Being a Good Linden Homes Neighbor" I'm really getting tired of coming across covenant violations with neighbors at almost every Linden Homes location I've had. I grant that some of these are likely related to ignorance of the covenant, but clearly some are not. Breedables beyond the limit Builds/Expansions that are clearly out of theme or violate the covenant, or are clear nuisances to neighbors (for example, that rooftop disco with the light show) Explicit content outside the house Caspertech redelivery devices ...and so on
  3. While you're at Raindale, make sure you check out the Outlet, especially if you are into the whole rustic or country or fantasy thing. There is a cute porch swing that would be great at a Log Cabin for only $L20.
  4. What a shame that many don't like that Victorian on an island (unless you're being sarcastic!). The two parcels of land on that island are really nice. While the lots don't directly touch the water. They are definitely workable for rezzing a boat on your land and pushing it into the water.
  5. I think it's Happy Weeknd or EBento - this waterfall is not listed though, a rock pond is shown on the gallery. But EVH always has more on sale than is listed in the weekend event galleries.
  6. Here's an example of the impact a little editing can have... This is the EVH Balam waterfall on sale this weekend. The original on the right is 40LI. I've just taken off the flowers and the parrot (pretty but 4LI on its own), and duplicated the shrub grass which is one LI each. The one on the left is 22LI. Now, I'm not saying that I wouldn't change anything on the left - I might have another sort of shrub in my inventory that was more attractive, but that is a significant LI difference for less than 5 minutes of editing at a sandbox.
  7. Wow, that's an even better parcel, from a water view perspective, than the one I abandoned (with a canal on one side and the river in front)
  8. I didn't buy much at this week's Cosmopolitan (we are way too deep into skimpy season for my taste as far as clothing), but I did spy a couple of things that might have appeal for some Linden Home residents. Goose has a park pathway set, with bridge, for $L499, for those of you who would like to add some nice pathways to your back yard. And there's a rather unique (and pricey!) Victorian bed from Warhorse.
  9. And, you know, the tall ceilings are a love-and-hate thing. My avi is set to the equivalent of just over 6 ft tall - and typically has been 6 to 6 3/4 ft tall in SL. And the scale of doorways and ceiling heights in all the new Linden Homes (except trailers and houseboats) makes my avi look small.
  10. Yes, and I have done that too, adding a bathroom to the loft. I've also added sliding or (frosted glass) French doors to the downstairs room tucked under the loft, which makes for a larger bathroom. I also thought about this...even though it's not the main living space, it does help make the builds feel more open: a number of the larger, two story builds have a good-sized open landing on the second floor (with other rooms opening off it), whether it is a "standard" floor plan or an "open"" one. This includes two story Victorians, 1024 two story Newbrookes, and I believe (if my memory serves me correctly) Fantasy and Chalets as well. The 1024 Sakura Kaneshon/Kuchinashi has an open loft with one room upstairs with the "open floor plan" and a landing with two rooms upstairs with the regular floor plan. Another factor that contributes to possible claustrophobia is doors and halls designed closely together, along with smaller rooms and more narrow hallways, and in one case, a slopped attic (but, that's the third floor in that case). The worst offender here is the Traditional Continental (the third floor slopped attic is in the The Mountaineer log home). Some of the regular (vs. open) Sakura floor plans have fairly narrow hallways too. With the smaller rooms and the sloped attic, when a resident experiences a lower frame rate and the lack of control that comes with it, their view may literally be bobbing between indoors and outdoors. And of course many of us have been in LH regions where one or more other folks are dragging the performance way down. To condense all that...to reduce that possible feeling of claustrophobia: Select a Log Home parcel and use the Grand View model (for the two story open feeling). Avoid the traditional Continental model. Avoid the Sakura homes that have the regular/traditional floor plans, choosing instead the open floor plans. Choose one of the two story Victorian, Fantasy or Chalet models, and possibly the open floor plan version of the Fantasy or Chalet models. Check the 1024 Newbrooke models, they are fairly roomy. If small builds don't appeal to you, than the Traditional one stories, the houseboats, and the trailers are not likely going to be your cup of tea.
  11. In my opinion, it really does depend on the theme. The Traditionals seem claustrophobic to me. And simply due to overall size, the Houseboats and Trailers. But beginning with the Victorians, things changed, and every theme following has featured larger designs. Many of us have been challenged in fully furnishing some of the larger models with the existing LI limit My guess is that those feeling claustrophobic in even the larger new homes would prefer to see more height (open to two stories) in addition to the open floor plans. Possibly the Grand View log home would be the closest fit of the new homes in that regard. I don’t think it’s a perfect floor plan ( it lacks an obvious space for a bathroom) but I found by addling an additional room or sunroom extension on the right, I could take the room tucked under the loft in the back and use it for a bathroom or office/second bedroom. So the main living area benefits from the open tall height.
  12. I just released a really nice location that I rolled after letting go of my Sakura parcel, in a not-named region in a not-named theme. Across the street and one door down was an open-air disco on top of a one story house, complete with laser lights, etc. It was the first annoyance build I've seen in quite a while where I really, really got angry (most of the time it's. not worth it). My frame rate sunk down to below 1 frame per minute! I was having difficulty selecting/derendering/blocking everything that was needed to be derendered and blocked. You can bet that I AR'ed it. there are just some things that people should never attempt to do in a Linden Homes area. If they want to create this kind of eyesore, they need to take their tier and buy mainland. Not that I would wish it on anyone who is their potential neighbor on mainland.
  13. Heads up, everyone, I am releasing a beautiful plot on Tsumetai Mizu (Sakura) facing the river (sidewalk, no street) with the canal on one side. I'm just not sure in the long run that Sakura, despite the beauty of the landscaping, is the right choice for me.
  14. Oh my gosh, I’m so disappointed. I can see that it will be a good deal for creators. But for those of us who were may be interested in extra perks for not double the price or more it’s a big disappointment. If they really are targeting creators versus consumers, I wonder why they would be moving forward with the 2048 homes
  15. Maybe some of Patch’s message this week will relate to removing the old homes as an option. Given that several types of the new homes are available each time the page is accessed… Are the Sakura Homes available now abandons? What about the Newbrookes? I'm getting wanderlust, but I think I might regret abandoning this parcel.
  16. @shinpachi99- hopefully you're getting familiar with the exterior house controller and the interior control panel, and enjoying all the options available to you! Don't forget to download the content pack from the exterior house controller! There's lots of great free stuff in there. Each theme has their own content pack, so if you've decided to try a different theme, make sure you download the pack from each theme you're trying out!
  17. At only 36LI, you can rez that Trompe cottage on a sky platform!
  18. Wow, the Trompe Superfan's group just keeps going with the specials! I don't buy most of the homes for obvious reasons - they're older models before Cory Edo learned the great secret to creating low LI homes with exquisite textures. And since they're older they don't include as many things that can be taken out and reused, most notably kitchens (which has been a more recent feature in many Trompe homes) but also pools, fireplaces and landscaping. But that living room set is awesome!
  19. Wanderlust Weekend, $L50, from Sways. Since it's all copy/modify I'm assuming the pieces and parts can be used individually.
  20. I took a look a this, and was considering it, but haven't had the best luck with Kactus stuff in the past. It breaks up just a short distance away.
  21. Darn, you beat me to posting Food Court! There is also a retro kitchen from Pitaya, not my cup of tea but those into either retro and/or kawaii might like it.
  22. I think Nika is right...it's difficult to calculate the total significance of Belli. Of course, the overall value of Linden Homes is not simply related to the income from premium members. Active Linden Home residents are likely buying a good amount of home furnishings. SL gets a direct cut on the marketplace (am I correct about that?). Then there's the various fees associated with exchange rates, tier for those stores on the mainland, etc. It's kind of similar to taxes in the non-virtual world, if the economy is doing well, the government gets more revenue. I suspect that many of us would not have virtual residences if it were not for Linden Homes. I for one bounced back and forth between renting parcels and being homeless.
  23. I thought about the events and weekend sales as well. I think there was one point with the Newbrookes soon after they were released, and you may have been the other person, Marianne...I had purchased a nice new bathroom set from Chez Moi (I think) at an event, and was working on placing it in my Newbrooke, and before I posted it, someone else had posted the view in their house of the same set (can't remember but it may have been the same house model/same room). Bathroom sets are definitely a situation where people may use the entire set and not mix in other items, and some Linden Homes have a room that is obviously a good choice for a bathroom...so it's entirely possible that many people will have a recently released bathroom set in the same room of the same model house, arranged in a similar fashion since window placements will likely restrict the placement of showers, vanity sinks with mirrors, etc.. That's not to defend an entire copycat of a home's decor, but to just illustrate an example of how decor could end up being similar among a number of people.
  24. Sorry that I missed the earlier question. I made the feature wall. If I get the time, I may export it and convert to mesh. My Blender skill level is rather low, but I know it would be nice to have available as a mesh item
