i think it was prudent of Linden to take on Philip Rosedale as a Linden company special advisor, given what is happening in the industry. Philip Rosedale major strength/skill is the ability to communicate to high-level industry people (board/ceo/venture funders/etc) the potential rewards and associated risks in developing virtual worlds. And because he can communicate at this level then he is able to advise the Linden board of where the broader industry is placed, and what challenges that Linden may face from potential Linden competitors all the face synching that Mr Rosedale goes on about, is what he understands the potential competitors to Linden are looking at providing to their potential customers in the future and Linden should take this into consideration in their (Linden) future planning a thing is that Philip Rosedale's view of virtual worlds is not the same as the views that we the residents have. Mr Rosedale viewpoint have always been set about 5 years into the future. He has always been that way. Whenever a SL resident says, now and in the past, to him: What about this or that which is broken or incomplete? His answer has/was/is always: yeah! thats not good. i had a go. Linden viewer 6.5.4.570575 (64bit) after a force 'crash' on Windows 10 (Task Manager \ End task) and relog then a cloud waited til the viewer logged me off then was ok to log back in to the same region but if I don't wait til the viewer logs me off and I try to relog to the same region then still a cloud and are eventually logged off and yes, as others are reporting, if after crash we log in to another region then that is ok. Is just trying to log back in to the same region after crash where there is a problem for me ps add. If after crash and relog and still while a cloud, then if I close the viewer normally then I am good when I relog back into the same region

the Performance Improvement viewer 6.6.0.570163 (64bit) Texture Memory slider still says 512 max. As Gavin mentioned and I can confirm, Windows Task Manager reports that this viewer is using up to 2048 (2GB). Which is true on my Nvidia 1050Ti (4GB) graphics card not sure tho what changes Linden will make to the slider reporting number before the Performance Improvement viewer is promoted to release status

i think that Linden should make this all of the technical platforms that can host virtual worlds have content editors (in whole or part). Unity, Unreal, Roblox, etc. As you have shown no doubt when the new wave metaverse offerings (Meta Facebook etc) arrive then so will they have content editors. If Linden can't afford to do this now, then how will they be able to afford it later when the competition really ramps up ? If the answer is never then is all pretty much oh! well in the oh! well case then a path forward is third party development. A way to fund this path on an ongoing basis is already available - LGPL 2.1 license. The content editor can be designed to use plugins. As such the plugins are proprietary to the plugin developer, they can, if they choose, sell their plugin and they don't have to release their plugin code example plugins Make a dress for Maitreya. i wonder sometimes if pretty much all of the issues in getting stuff to look 'correct' in the viewer is because there is no SL Content Editor a SL Content Editor program which can not only make meshes, but also textures and animations if there was a SL Content Editor then creators be able to make stuff which always looks exactly the same in the SL Viewer then when start thinking about adding some new feature in the SL Viewer then the same happens in the SL Content Editor if did this then all the other tools like Blender, Maya, Photoshop, Gimp, QAvimator, etc would all be dumped in the bin by the large majority of the creative user group learning to make stuff for SL would be as easy as it once was when we used to make objects using the SL Prim Editor

is pretty interesting when get into turing complete take writing to a notecard LSL doesn't have a edit/save notecard API function so we would have to write Our Own API function to do this in our LSL script we read in the notecard, make some changes to the text, then call OurOwn SaveCopy function SaveCopy sends text to OurOwn API server, which invokes OurOwn API bot. Bot makes a new notecard populated with the text, and drops it in our device on inventory change our script uses new copy of notecard and removes old pretty tedious, but doable.
