  1. hahahahaha it's just that word...schmeckel...i can't even...
  2. @AyelaNewLife You're right - Tetra's store is well done.
  3. LOL No - it actually made me feel physically nauseous - I wasn't trying to be sarky or anything. My impressions of the place - I personally don't get the obsession with a blinding, hard-to-see, clinical decor. It's not in the least bit attractive or 'artsy fartsy' to me - just seems a bit daft. I did eventually find the demo, took it home, had a play, fell in love...remember the price tag and the seemingly overwhelming mistrust with the creator(s) and then heard my grandmother's sage advice: 'Act in haste, regret at leisure'. So nah. I'll pass. At least, for now
  4. Haven't read the previous 66 pages to see whether this has been covered but: Stark white, clinical-looking in-world stores with transparent floors and/or/including white mist effects. They seem to have become a 'thing'. Loathe. Them. With. A. Passion. Makes me physically nauseous.
  5. @Evangeline Arcadia Really like your idea, Evangeline!
  6. Ooops - sorry Lindal!! Although it made perfect sense to me, apparently no one's a mind reader and hasn't a clue what I was rabbiting on about. I was referring to my (probably vain) attempts to help reduce lag by not contributing to it (removing huds, killing scripts in heads/clothes/hair where possible, etc) - and yes, I realize complexity has nothing to do with that...this is just what happens 'upstairs' when too many thoughts collide at once and you think you're making perfect sense.
  7. Oh heck yes, I care! I don't wear huds when not in use, cringe when I go over 30k (prefer to be in the low 20's wherever possible) but oh, how wonderful a measly 500 would be . Wonder if we'll ever see numbers that low? I cringe now when thinking back to the beginning and how I thought all that flexi hair was just the bees knees
  8. Look, I'm going to put an alternative, unpopular and brutally harsh spin on this because for goodness sakes, somebody has to; if I was Big Spender, I'd be infuriated by - and highly suspicious of - this dire need to meddle in my affairs by trying to put a 'retarded' label on it - as if that somehow makes it all ok. It's not ok. Where does this insidious mentality come from that says as long as you label someone 'mentally deficient', you have the right to meddle in their affairs? While that maneuver could be seen as 'caring' by some, it could also be viewed as a manipulative move to 'control' whilst posing as a 'caring friend' in hopes of ....*fill in ultimately desired goal here* Truth is, I've witnessed that exact scenario more than once. By now, I can see it forming like a twister long before anyone else does. And have you considered that he might just be so good at rp that he's having a blast stringing you along? Pixel people are strange little vegemites, after all.
  9. Just because you're stuck with the junk in the trunk. Desktops are easy to upgrade.
  10. Oh, to travel back in time and not buy a gaming laptop specifically for SL.
  11. Thank you, Emma. Hope yours is finally resolved too. The last thing on the list was to reset the modem - that's at least stopped things being grindingly-slow now As for the rest - only time will tell.
  12. @Emma Krokus Sorry - my head's still buzzing trying to figure out if there's anything more I can do to my machine (apart from tossing it out the window). Removing the items - yes - instant 'back to normal' - but only until I re-log, then it's the same dance all over again
  13. Oh yikes! Months for you? That's terrible! I know you've probably already tried this but will ask just in case: have you tried replacing your shape with another one, then re-logging and putting your usual shape back on? Or just rebake your avi? Looks like there's two issues: Bakes on Mesh and FS performance. FS I think is just another victim of the' Evil MS Empire', but I'm sure the FS team are onto things anyway; there's never any flies on Whirly's back. The creator I'd contacted about the shoe base very kindly replied that she thinks it's a BoM issue because by removing the shoe base, it allowed BoM rebake everything - but really, how many times are we going to have to do this dance? Just logged in again with the same problem so yes, BoM is definitely a culprit. One other thing that happened at the same time is that over half of my inventory suddenly went missing - empty folders all over the place like yesterday's hurricane. This has never happened to me before; I did try the fixes listed in the phoenix wiki but clearly none of them worked - even more is missing now that I've logged back in again. Le sigh. Ah well, it's all just pixels after all.
  14. So...after the horrendous Windows 10 update last night (for me in my neck of the woods anyway), I logged into SL (using FS) and the following two issues are what greeted me: Together with this: Not knowing what was causing it - but cursing Microsoft anyway - I thought I'd remove items one-by-one and start from scratch to see if I could find a solution. As soon as I removed the shoe base for the boots, both situations were instantly resolved. I tried a shoe base from a different pair of shoes and that works perfectly...just not the shoe base that goes with the actual boots (I've notified the creator). Posting this here in case anyone else is finds themselves suddenly experiencing the same problem. Don't know whether it's a glitch resulting from BoM going live (although I don't use the official viewer) and/or that blasted Windows 10 update or both, but rest assured, if things are going to go pear-shaped, they'll always go pear-shaped on tech-dense me first.
  15. Not yet - waiting for Firestorm to catch up, but I can hardly wait! The weird colors - as I understand from Strawberry Singh's video (last year) are because you're still wearing body alphas; the only alpha you need to wear is one for the eyes if you're wearing mesh eyes - otherwise, remove your full body alpha (or whatever body/head alphas you might be wearing) and it will work as intended. I wonder if skin creators will specifically make bakes on mesh skins now? No idea how that works, but I imagine all sorts of things will open up.
  16. Disappointments shall henceforth be a thing of the (recent) past. Anyone see this lastest LL post?
  17. You know what, Gopi? You don't need to justify why yourself to any of us - but I really like your reason why
  18. It's not about physical theft - there's intellectual property theft too, but I'm genuinely baffled over why anyone would get their knickers in a twist for being prevented from invading someone's privacy. Plan ahead and fly somewhere else; problem solved. It's Second Life - yours to do with as you see fit (provided you're not breaking the ToS). Sour assumptions about why people won't let you invade their privacy seems a little childish, churlish and short-sighted. It's like saying you're a busybody with a desire to do exactly that - and hate being prevented from it. I'm butt naked 95% of the time creating shapes; I neither need nor desire pervs coming in - or camming in - for an eye full of naked (and often very scary looking) pixels while I work. I'm sure there's other creators with their own set of reasons for utilizing whatever security is at their disposal - not that they need to justify themselves to anyone in order to use the tools that are their right to use. Point is that in most cases it has absolutely nothing to do with 'power' over anything or anyone but our own situation and our own privacy, with dozens of valid scenarios as to why.
  19. Ok I'm sleep deprived. Must have mixed you up with someone else. My apologies!
  20. Ouch! No, I wasn't presuming you didn't know how to use it - I'd thought you'd mentioned on another thread that you don't use FS? Anyway, that's all I'd do if I didn't want to hear from someone for whatever reason - just slap up a notification to let them know.
