  1. Hi @ReddSylk, The best way by far to answer Bigmoe's and Beq's requests for information is to copy/paste everything on the page you get from your viewer's top bar menu - Help -> About [viewer name] Paste that into a post here. It will provide a lot of useful information that might point us in the right direction to help.
  2. @Jaylinbridges, I did indeed attribute the quote, ".....Bellisseria only has one purpose, a residential zone" to you, by mistake. It should have been atributed to @SarahKB7 Koskinen. Please accept my apology.
  3. That is not strictly true. The open fly corridor is a blessing for aviation and the waters are ideal for sailing and other water-related activities, free of ban lines and send-home security devices. There are the social gathering areas, too, supported by the Bellisseria residents' groups.
  4. I can never understand why someone would want to go wandering round inworld stores, or events, when they could sit back comfortably, run a search for the required items on the Marketplace, and browse umpteen pages of every conceivable item possible except the ones you were looking for!
  5. What an immediate rush to register instant disapproval of the idea! Not sentiments such as, "I don't think this is a good idea because [insert considered reasons]", but outright "No" responses. That is interesting. There seems to be a perception that users are being asked to advertise SL commercially. That is not the case, I am sure; that definitely is LL's job. What users can do is to mention SL in their social media activities or their day-to-day (real life) chatter, and get the Second Life name back into public perception with a positive endorsement. @lucagrabacr was simply asking users to have a think and work out out any possible ways that the misconceptions, that seem to be generally held by the misinformed, can be countered. Is that too much to ask? Is that too much to ask of people who must, in some shape or form, be dedicated to SL because their regular forum presence would at least suggest that they are? Perhaps there is an element of ashamedness - ashamed at the antiquity, the steep learning curve, the awkwardnesses, the adult content etc? Ashamed to admit to anyone that you deeply immerse yourself in SL, believing that lots of people will probably rate you as some kind of weirdo? Should this be the case, surely you could do something to correct the misconceptions? I rated @lucagrabacr's post as "a call to arms". It was not, however, a press gang situation, and you are completely free to carry on regardless. PS: While typing this, with a lengthy RL break in the middle, some reasons have been emerging. I am very interested to hear them.
  6. @lucagrabacr, that is a very passionate and, in my opinion, a much needed call to arms! You are so right; us users need to be aware of the need to be proactive. All the indications at present are that sitting back, and hoping that all will be well for the future, may not be enough. Outside commercial forces, and media attention, tend to extol sensational snippets punched out by the "competition"while completely ignoring the champion in the background. Technologically, SL has a lot of hurdles to jump if it is to keep up with modern perceptions of what is needed. Sociologically, however, nothing comes even close. It is time the world was reminded.
  7. The dots, as a trailing off of thought, is used in English, usually as part of reported speech though.
  8. Charles, laying near-motionless in his hospital bed, was clearly very close to departing this world. Summoning every last bit of his energy, he managed to beckon his wife to come close. "Daisy....", he croaked. "Daisy....... when I'm....gone..... I want.... you to.....marry......Brian....". "Brian?", she exclaimed incredulously. "She continued, "But I thought you hated Brian!" With immense effort, he once again managed to beckon her close. "I....... I do!"
  9. An interesting thought - a large minority by total accounts, or a large minority by regular logins? Maybe, by the latter, not even a minority? We'll probably never know but, for sure, non-USA folk end up paying a lot more for lesser facilities. That's (second) life!
  10. I have used my S10+ as a hotspot for SL. It works, but I can only get a 4G signal where I live, so it's something like 5 or 6 Mbps down and 2 or 3 up. But it does work. I cannot think of any reason why a 5G connection would do anything other than improve the speed of the connection substantially.
  11. Usually, that type of animation requires the target to accept it before it will run. Do you animate as well as the unwanted kisser? Have you ever accepted anything from them in the past? You can block that person - right click their avatar name in the People list, or just right click the avatar** concerned. "Block/Unblock" is one of the options presented. Blocking stops voice and text chat and any visual interference from their avatar and their objects. Do not IM to the agressor though; it will unblock them. If they send you money, L$1 will do, it will unblock them. You can also try sitting down - anywhere, or on anything that you can sit on. This tends to prevent most physical forces from acting on you. Edit to add: ** ..right click the avatar -> Profile -> Block (button at bottom of the profile)
  12. But jump in your boat, aircraft or road vehicle, and see how well you navigate with draw set to 32! Even 64 is very dodgy.
  13. Visiting travellers/explorers have a responsibility to abide by the covent requirements, too, but nobody tells them what those requirements are. No surprise therefore that they fly at 51m. No surprise that they fall foul of security systems? Yes, no surprise!
  14. I'm afraid you are right. Once you've been blown away after hitting skycrap at, say 750m (classic mainland) by a nasty security orb, finding out where you where, and who owns it, is just not worth the trouble. I now just mark the rough area that it happened as a "No Go" zone. It shouldn't be like this. Maybe LL will come up with a solution to people who just don't understand either what they're buying into, or who don't give a damn anyway? I'm not holding my breath. I once did go to extensive trouble to revisit the offending platform, determine the owner, and sent them a very polite note pointing out the covenant requirements. Never again. Never, ever again. The vehement reply does not bear repeating.
  15. Wrong! It guarantees that skyboxes, platforms and other garbage below 2000m are against the covenant. In no way does it prevent them from actually being there though. And they are....
  16. Sorry to everyone who may be confused by my recent post. I linked to this thread by mistake. Rushing because stuff was boiling over in the kitchen didn't serve me well. The post is now edited correct. I hope it makes more sense now. Edit to add: It's on page 6. We've added yet another page already!
  17. Wrong link posted! This is the one I meant to post:- The above thred kicked off in April 2019 and ran to some 15 pages before fizzling out. I'm sure you will all be familiar with it; it is, after all, in the correct place - the Land section. Nothing new is emerging after 6 pages of this thread. Travellers hate being sent home (inevitably without the vehicle) and the "get-off-my-lawn" brigade want nukes. @Phil Deakinsadmirably attempts to script a security orb that might save Bellisserian residents 1 prim, by covering identified height sections in a single security system instead of having to use two of the free, 1 prim security orbs provided by LL. Is that really worth all the effort though? I would suggest not. In addition, if LL's covenant rules alter in the future, they have a degree of control over their supplied security systems. Third party security sytems might muddy the water somewhat. @Abnor Mole summed the Bellisseria position up, quite succinctly, when he said, "If someone feels they need to ban everyone who enters their parcel in Bellisseria regardless of intent and even when they themselves aren't even there, perhaps Bellisseria isn't the place for them. They might be happier on mainland or a private estate."
  18. "Thedarkbrowncondimentfromalittleplaceinengland", or something like that?
  19. My sincere apologies for forgetting about regional variations; thanks for correcting me. (With half my family born and living in Yorksher, I should have remembered!) You'll be hard-pushed to find it ever pronounced "[county]shyre", as a complete county name, though?
  20. You'll know when you're getting to grips with English place names when you've learnt how to pronounce Happisburgh. Now you might like to think about moving onto Welsh place names....... Worcestershire Sauce is my magic ingredient. Whenever a savoury dish "needs something", a shake of Worcestershire Sauce usually does the trick. Interestingly (or maybe not!), when "shire" gets pronounced on its own, e.g. "the shire counties", it inevitably gets pronounced "shyre", or maybe even "shier". When it forms the end part of a full county name, it gets pronounced "sheer". Why? Because it bloody does, ok? Ah....kansas? Surely other countries aren't so silly?
  21. But obviously some people think it's wrong on the bottle!
  22. If you are driving a vehicle, flying a plane or sailing a boat, the usual effect of hitting a ban line is that the driver becomes detached from the vehicle. Both go their separate ways. Ban lines loom into sight when you get close to them; if a bit of lag is in force, you have no chance whatsoever and, as often as not, by the time you see them anyway it may be too late to avoid hitting them. If all that happened was a harmless bounce, things wouldn't be so bad. Unfortunately, that is not what happens and your journey ends there in disarray. Turning ban lines visibility off only has aesthetic value. It only worsens the traveller's situation. @animats toiled to script a solution. I cannot remember the outcome, but I seem to remember he made good progress. I don't have time to research at present.
  23. A lot of all this was hacked out to death in the Land Forum - Linden Homes - Linden Homes Security System section. It's been quiet for 62 days. Maybe it's worth a re-read?
  24. It completely ruins a traveller's experience. Totally. No recovery, back to square one.
  25. And turn Bellisseria back into mainland wild west. No thank you!
