  1. I'm outside Canada and got an email about upcoming policy changes from PayPal. For U.S. customers, the upcoming changes (effective 9/3/19) have to do with increasing the currency conversion spread percentage.
  2. Regarding the time delay, whenever I transfer money from my checking account to my PayPal cash balance, it always takes 3 to 5 days for the money to become available for my use in PayPal, so I do not think a wait time is unexpected or unusual.
  3. Usually what we've seen in the forums are people unable to downgrade because they don't know they need to release all their land (or group land donations) first, and once they find out they need to that first, they are fine. If I was downgrading early it would be because I would be afraid that I would not remember to downgrade next May 13 so that my account would not automatically renew on May 14. If I did that and was allowed to keep my LH or mainland, it is very unlikely that I would remember next May 13 that I need to pick up all my things from my LH or mainland parcel, and I would be very upset to log in on May 14 and find all my stuff returned and my mainland parcel no longer mine. My point being that if I was certain I would remember to pick my things up next May 13, then remembering to downgrade on May 13 instead of now should not be a problem.
  4. and one more... with a little help from a little nefarious one...
  5. Visiting at The Far Away. Glad that @Madelaine McMasters posted the LM again in another thread. I remember I had been here before, when I danced on top of the locomotive, but it'd been awhile.
  6. The only thing that is removed is the ability to own mainland or a Lnden Home. If you own mainland or a LH at the time you decide you want to downgrade, you are not able to do the downgrade until you either sell/abandon your mainland parcel, or you abandon your LH. As to why, can you imagine the posts we'd see here in the forums if they didn't have that requirement and behavior? What if someone owned 8192 sqm of mainland, was able to keep it when they downgraded, but forgot to sell or abandon it before their downgraded premium membership ran out. If the day after their downgraded premium membership expired, LL returned all their items from the land and took the land back from them, people would be upset and calling it unfair that they didn't have a chance to sell the land or pick their things up for some 'grace period' after the downgraded premium expired. However, if one downgrades and then wished to own land or a LH after all, it's just a call to Live Chat or a support ticket to get the pending downgrade removed and full premium reinstated. If you use Live Chat during the hours they are available, it's only takes a couple of minutes to change back. It just seems clearer all the way around, in my opinion, to have the land relinquished before you can downgrade, and have all the other benefits for the remainder of the paid term.
  7. Sometimes just exploring and finding the things and places that interest you will lead to you meeting others that share the same interests as yourself. You can use the Destination Guide as a way to find different types of places and/or search "Groups" for the types of things that you are interested in and then use the group info to either visit the location and/or join the group. Some groups are chattier than others. If it's the type of group that may have events, joining the group will keep you apprised of when events will be occurring.
  8. I was a premium member before the new Linden homes were announced. So, for myself, I felt the premium benefits were worthwhile even without the announcement of the new Linden homes. Not everyone who is paying for premium does so just because of the new Linden homes, in fact there are people paying for premium who may not even be interested in having a Linden home, new or old.
  9. @rociomorena19 Your questions are very similar to questions just asked by another resident. If you scroll up just 2 posts above your questions, you will see the answers to those similar questions, and that might be good to read to see if those answer your questions as well.
  10. My understanding is that the Tilia TOS and ID requirements affects people who sell their lindens, resulting in a US dollar balance, and then transfer those US dollars out of Second Life to either a PayPal or Skrill account. It is when the US dollars are to be transferred out that the ID requirements would come into play. If you do not have a US dollar balance, you do not need to worry about the inactivity fee. If you do have a US dollar balance, in order to remain active (no inactivity fee) all you need to do is to log into your web dashboard and view your Account page at least once every 12 months. If all you do is to use Paypal, Skrill or a credit card to either purchase linden dollars or to pay tier, the new Tilia terms and inactivity fees should not affect you at all. You will not lose any linden dollars.
  11. Regardless whether or not this was the layoff that Selene was thinking of, I appreciated reading the background around this one in 2010. Even though it was before my time in SL, the 'big layoff' that happened in 2010 is something that I have heard references about here and there from time to time, but I didn't really know any of the details about it.
  12. With the difficulty people have been having getting one of the homes since the refresh limits were put in, I'm really glad the one of the few releases was picked up by Clover for the two of you. Congrats!
  13. Even though you might have felt it was super cute and not obstructive, that might not have been the feeling of everyone else. Additionally the covenant does say "Objects that extend outside of your parcel can be returned without warning or notice." With the population of Bellisseria, if everyone added objects that extended outside of their parcel into public land, the public land would quickly become a maze to travel through.
  14. Which would probably be in Bellisseria. I can't remember seeing so many different animals and animal groups in one area before.
  15. I really hope that within a year or so (or definitely before the two years are up) that you will be able to get a home on Bellisseria where you'll be able to create your hippy hang-out (which I would probably be interested in checking out )
  16. Even if they had taken some sort of poll, I'm sure that the answers before any of us saw the actual builds (including the beautiful landscaping and individuality of the regions) would have been different than the answers after we saw what they really looked like. Even at the Home & Garden expo last spring where we had our first chance to walk around the showcase area and walk through all the home styles, there were many who were complaining about them being too small, etc. If a poll had been taken right at that moment in time, before residents had a chance to start decorating the interiors and posting those pics so that others could see the possibilities, I think the poll numbers would have been different than they would be later (or will be in the future once we actually seen and been able to walk around in the additional themes that will be introduced in the future). I think a lot of the demand came from residents seeing what others were able to do decorating-wise, as well as hearing about the sense of community that was forming in the new area when it actually started being populated - both things that are demand "number-changers", I believe.
  17. When I'm wearing the Tonic Fine body, I can't wear long hair styles wear the hair hangs down in front because of the excessive extra space between the chest and the hair. While I consider it more of a work around than a solution, when I wear that body, I've started wearing long hair that comes with a styling HUD where you can choose to wear the hair just hanging down in the back and not in the front. I'm not a huge shopper familiar with all kinds of brands, but the hair brands that I've commonly found those types of styling HUD's for have been Mina and Truth.
  18. It's easy to say they shouldn't have released any until there was enough for everyone who wanted one (disregarding the length of time we'd have to wait), but the difficult part I think would be determining what that number would have been: - the number of homes that were occupied in the old LH continents at the time they started building the SSP continent? - the number of premium accounts at the time they started building the SSP continent? - the number of premium accounts at the time they showcased the first houses and houseboats at the Home and Garden Expo? I think that with each exposure (showcasing the homes at events like the Home & Garden Expo or SL16B) or with each large release, the number of people who now want a new linden home increases, so the number of homes needed is an ever-changing number. We have seen in the forums that people who had not ever been premium before, have become premium in order to get a new linden home. We have seen people that have been premium for years, but have never been interested in a linden home before, now wanting a new linden home. How would you expect LL to accurately count these types of changes beforehand? Even if they had managed to build in secret enough homes to match the number of occupied old LH's at the time they started the build, once they were released and everyone saw them, it would not have been enough homes for the number of people who would have decided, after seeing the homes, that they now they now want a new linden home. Also, there will be more themes of homes available - I think Patch had indicated that there will be more than 4 themes - so the other question is how would they know ahead of time how many of each theme to build, if they weren't building and releasing as they went along? And if they had a lottery or a waiting list, which theme would you want to sign up for (without knowing what the additional themes will be)?
  19. I don't remember exactly how I found out about the forum, but I do know that it was around the same time that I joined SL in 2014. It may have come up in search when I was searching for official SL information right before I joined, or perhaps I got here from a link on the web dashboard. I mostly just read the forums in my early days - especially the Answers section. I have learned so much from the discussions in the forum. After seeing enough references about "across the street" I finally figured out what to search for and found the SLU forum, where I also spent a lot of time reading. Just like when I've moved to a new place in RL, I wanted to find out all about this world and about its history. I didn't really start posting until this version of the forums, because the prior version did not exactly seem like a very friendly place. I still am more of a reader than a poster, but I do 'talk' more here than I do inworld I think, and I did finally make it over that magical number of 500 posts eventually. I know that there are many who have become active in the forums after I did, yet already have a higher post count than I do. However, I feel that the post count I have achieved is a victory for me.
  20. Hundreds of thousands of people trying to get the new linden homes - that would be a huge increase in the number of premium accounts this past year, and would be wonderful news for LL. No wonder they aren't able to meet the demand for new linden homes.
