  1. SL is fine ahah, perhaps take a different approach. Join some groups. Stop spending L$. Focus on what is Fun to YOU and not what everyone else is doing.
  2. Check some Newbie Hubs, they tend to have height checkers. You can also pick one up on marketplace, there are probably some for cheap/free just search "Avatar Height", i found a bunch that way.
  3. You need to contact the Landlord if it is land you are renting, they are the ones with the power to ban you from the parcel or whatever might have happened. Retreiving items is not a complicated task, so as long as you have not violated any agreements with your landowner you should be able to get them returned remotely or get back on the parcel to pick up your stuff. Items can be returned to your inventory but you or the landowner need to be on the parcel to return them.
  4. Shoot me an IM or a notecard Persona happy to participate :matte-motes-big-grin:
  5. Hey Cali Take a look at this page explaning Joining and Subdividing Land it should provide the answers you need to combine your parcels. As for terraforming, you can right click your and anywhere and bring up the edit menu. There is a tab with a buldozer on it (at least if you are using LL viewer) which will allow you to terraform your land any way you want. You will want to choose flatten with a high strength and size to flatten your land out.
  6. Martin, If the website is gone, there is a high probability the project has been abandoned. The Facebook Page however is still up for the time being, I would recommend sending them a message there to get to the bottom of it.
  7. First of all, I absolutely ADORE ERC and the whole sim complex of the township. I love taking friends there and simply wandering along the canal, seeing where the train takes us, or just finding a nice park to relax in Several times I have though about renting for either business or residence there, but for some reason I have never pulled the trigger! I cannot donate any tier but this has me considering opening up a shop just to show a little support to the place I love so much. Unfortunately, ERC as I see it falls in a very tough spot in the SL scene. Its a gorgeously designed sim in terms of Modern Town design, but in my experience most folks who want to live in a commnity such as this are also interested in RolePlay built into the community. In addition to that, it is a mainland community (something that I also LOVE), but can be a big turnoff for some players who want the security and control of a private sim. As a resident who does not have loads of Tier to hand over to ease the burden, what is something us common folks can do to help preserve this piece of SL? Can any fundraising or awareness events be hosted? Any other way to bring attention to the sim and the issues at hand that might broaden the audience beyond the forum? I am totally open to helping out any way I can even though I am not a part of the community per-say, I do see great importance to keep this place around and alive.
  8. Go for it Talli! P.S. I stopped by your new gallery yesterday, very nice work
  9. Hello Moonkitten! There is a plenthora of Galleries in SL, many of which are frequently or constantly accepting new submissions. Depending on the amount of work you want to display, there are many options at your disposal. Some galleries have extensive display areas that can accomidate large collections/projects. If you have a large body of work or a specific theme you have been working on, you may consider submitting your project for residency at a gallery for a month or two exhibit. For smaller projects, or simply for dispaying a few select pieces, your options are even greater. A great example is KULTIVATE MAGAZINE (ex Windlight Art Gallery), they give artists TONS of opportunities to participage. You can rent a shop on the sim to display your art year round - you can become a featured artist in the main gallery of rotating talent - you can have your work featured in their digital magazine - you can participate in one of their many events, such as the Spring Art Show coming up! There are plenty of other events you can seek out, Art Walk is a nice one for displaying with a lot of other residents. Also, take a look at Art Galleries of Second Life, a database of Galleries on the grid (only sims that have a kiosk will be listed) that can be a great starting point for looking around at venues. I'd be happy to chat more or help out any way I can, feel free to shoot me a message Inworld or a notecard!
  10. Good lookin spot! Going to try to make it by for a DJ sometime.
  11. Preferences > General > Languages will get you there. Hit CTRL+P if you cannot find preferences
  12. Any more details? Could be a variety of things. First, where are you visiting? The Second-Life grid is MASSIVE, with people from all over the world logged in at any given time. The most popular locations to find people might be Clubs, Concerts, Events, Shops or Themed/Roleplay Sims. If you are just bouncing around randomly, there is a chance that you won't run into another user for a good amount of time. Try opening u the Destination Guide in viewer, sometimes locations will have the current population listed. Try LONDON sim or some of the Clubs listed, you should run into some other peeps in no time. However there might be a technical issue here with your viewer or your graphics settings. If you can see people but they just look like blobs, you are seeing simplified versions of avatars and need to turn your graphics settings up higher to see their full design. Hopefully another resident can chime in with a more technical approach, but I am thinking you are just in the wrong place at the wrong time ;-D
  13. Not sure where on earth you read that, it only costs 100L$ ONE TIME FEE to setup a group, not a recurring daily fee.
  14. About Land -> Options Tab -> Bottom of Window "Set Landing Point/Teleport Routing" Full Guide Here
  15. It's just a sandbox, find another ;-D
  16. I find my experiences meeting folks in SL has been much more in-line with out things work IRL than some bizarre utopian cyber-world concept some people hope to find on the grid. I always say, if you walked into a club/store/cafe in Real Life, how many people would you meet? How many would become lifelong friends? Would you walk around and strike up a conversation with every individual? That's not necessarily how the world works. Obviously some locations are more social than others, but it does not change the fact that if you login to a sim with 10 people, they probably aren't all going to start jib-jabbin with you, they are in the area for their own reasons. Over the past 2 years in SL, I have found myself making more "solid" friendships rather than simply collecting names on the friends-list. The connections I have made are more meaningful than anything I experienced in the first 2-3 years exploring the grid. While I do think there is potential for SL to become a truly "Social" platform, there are many hurdles to overcome. Not everyone is in SL for the same reason, everyone has their own interests and hobbies. That fact coupled with the fact that not only is the Grid a massive place but quite fragmented by Private Sims and Islands - makes "Gathering Points" and "Socializing Spots" quite difficult to create and populate. I personally do my part by encouraging both the creation and use of "Public Spaces". Locations that people can be comfortable visiting and enjoy hanging out in! As a owner of Public Property, the best thing we can do to cultivate a social community is to be as nice and open (NO BANLINES hehe) as possible, so that the general population can step in and appreciate :-)
  17. Cannot tell if this is for realz :matte-motes-big-grin-squint: First search to see if groups like that already exist. Unless you know a ton of sad lonely girls or bikers, you are going to have a VERY hard time populating the group with people. Group Creation is Explained in Full in Knowledge Base.
  18. I frikken love the mainland. I whole-heartedly endorse all these ideas, and home LL puts some manpower behind completing transportation networks and beautification in general. :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
  19. I am going to suggest that since you are a New User, you should try to find groups that already exist with your interests. There are plenty of groups already made with tons of members interested in Games, Sailing, or even just Socializing. It will be MUCH easier for you to meet people with similar interest that way, rather than creating your own "umbrella" group.
  20. I would give a thousand Horizons or any of these projects to see Gaeta finally finished! Obviously beyond hope, LL has moved onto other money-making ventures, new Gaeta parcels would probably go for a fraction of what Horizons is selling for..... The OCD side of me cannot help but pray they will atleast finish the shoreline SOMEDAY </3 X___X
  21. Still trying to wrap my mind around this whole project. Went to check out Horizons a week or so ago and was not really impressed with what I found. Cool of LL to take a stab at a premium themed region at least?! But holy **bleep** those auction prices 0______0
  22. You can post Events directly via the Event page on the website. Under the small calendar on the left, click "Submit New Event" and it will guide you through the rest. Keep in mind your post must follow the event guidelines which they explain before submission.
  23. By that date the pictures were already not being posted every day, I believe the team switched over to "Weekly Profile Pics" which they share on social media pages (Facebook) instead of the blog.
  24. Anti Social Network? I thought that was Second Life? lol sorry peeps, I could not resist X*D
