  1. Hey Folks. Looking for some Recommendations. Upscale Communities. Could be any style. No RP necessary. I am interested in attention to detail, landscaping, and availability. Theme is not important as long as it is consistent. The Grove is one that I am aware of, but I am interested in seeking out some others. Any help is appreciated! Share what you've found!!!
  2. I like Boats! I like Drinks! I like Goofs! I shall have a look!
  3. I can vouch for Sailor's Cove, it's a very nice little bay area with quite the realistic feeling. Many marinas near Blake Sea are quite bloated, but the little area of Sailors Cove is surprisingly natural. Used to rent a dock there, but now I just stop by for a stroll and a beer on occasion
  4. Once again, horrible salesperson. If most of us here are smut searching losers why even bother posting here. You don't even have the time to reply to an actual thread you created with PRACTICAL INFO instead you talk about how your busy at school and how someone on the Sim could help me. Well thanks for nothing, I'm at the office and can't login, and if you can't bother to take the time to answer the questions on your own bloody thread, then Wtf are you soon here besides stroking your own ego in this thread. Done posting here, and I advice others do the same, you're wasting you're time.
  5. Try a different sales tactic. You are failing before you begin. Ive gotten people to sign up for SL to participate in things I do not as regular residents, I dont make a point of mentioning that stuff. And if its brought up, i breeze over it, because it's not the bloody point. If you made a thread that was focused on discussion and not promoting your own organization, it should not have been moved. If it was moved, you were either pimping your group or funneling people into your sim. Several long threads exist under General Discussion that, by your arguments, would have been moved to Roleplay (Bloodlines Thread), Mainland and Parcel ( do you prefer living on a homestead/mainland sim thread ), the list goes on and on. These threads all share one thing in common, the original post was meant to begin conversation or posit a question, not advertise a community. They didn't say "What is Bloodlines? And by the way join my vampire family and we happen to have a sim and all this custom mesh costumes you can wear if you just come sign up ;-D". They simply asked what it was. I bet I could go start a thread in general, word it the right way, and it would not be moved. Just saying.
  6. I think it's my mission to reach 100 blues just because the entire grid has given up ^______^ <3
  7. I am not sure what this is all about. Never suggested recruiting on another sim. Suggested getting out of Second Life and this Forum altogether and go find recruits elsewhere. So many of your tie-ups are regarding how current residents either behave, or perceive your operation, why not just try to sell your idea to some gamers who aren't even Residents. All of the stigmas and assumptions and roadblocks you discuss would be gone if you recruited outside of Second Life. Get some folks who play other games interested enough to sign up and join with you. Go post on Reddit and other boards. IDK really, but i never even mentioned whatever you're talking about here. Here's a quick solution. Make a thread in General Discussion. Call it Combat in Second Life. Then you and anyone who is interested can exchange ideas there, especially if its not for advertising groups and is just to stimulate the community. If individual Sims or Groups aren't being advertised, or no Events are being advertised, what is the point of having a sub-forum with multiple threads?? Everything you mentioned wanting to discuss could be done in a single thread under general discussion. And if there were enough interest, you could have threads for each of the intricacies you are discussing, as long as its just discussing. Just post WHY DO PEOPLE PARTICIPATE IN COMBAT IN SL or something similar and there ya go -_____- If it catches peoples interest and theres enough people participating in the discussion, it will stay surfaced, and ba da bing you have your own little chunk of the forum to yourself. Or you can keep praying that your arguments will win Lindens favor? You keep bringing it up humorously, but you have just about as much chance scoring a sub-forum as the Furry BDSM scene does.
  8. Honesty, I don't think it even matters. A very small number of users are on the forums to discover new Sims and Places or things to do. If you just look at the post counts and where the numbers fall, the Forum is essentially a place for people to chit-chat about SL, to get answers to frequently asked questions, and to possibly meet someone or make a connection. Any posts of this nature get tons more interaction than anyone just sharing a Sim, a Roleplay, a game, whatever. But sheeeet, at this point I am just flapping my gums. The point is... This Forum is NOT a good for promotion no matter what anyone says. It might help, but only a fraction of SL users even touch the forum, let alone use it often enough to keep up with new posts and topics. Its miraculous to see a post reach anywhere close to 1,000 views if its not under General Discussion. Ask yourself, is this even a battle worth fighting? You'd probably have better luck recruiting people outside of SL in my personal opinion, if I were you i'd be posting in other gaming forums lol, not wasting my time trying to change how Linden operates things here
  9. Better be a pretty tasty pizza if its cooking for 4 hours LOL!! Jokes aside, cheers for the sleuthing! I assumed this was just another time/L$ dump. Not to mention Pi$$a reminds me more if PISSA than PIZZA lol
  10. Anyone check this out?! Is it an actual game? Or just another thing to drive traffic and for alts to stand around and farm fractions of a Linden$
  11. Honestly I feel like it's the way your community is being advertised, or at least how the general SL population receives it. Maybe try advertising it as more of a game, rather than a community to become involved in (even though I understand that's technically what these groups are). Im no marketing master or anything, but the stuff you post LOOKS like RP combat stuff. Surely there are some things you can do to skew that misconception? Are there any YouTube videos showing off combat? Do you or any of your fellow groups have "Entry Level" systems, or sims, setup where people can come try how you do things? ANYTHING that you can do to make it more user friendly will make it more GAME-LIKE and less like your typical SL Roleplay Situation. So much of your setup mirrors a typical RP in Second Life unfortunately, so the nuances of your argument about why it is NOT needs to be more clear for the average user. Even though in here you have clearly explained why things like Training, Officers, etc are all in place in terms of gameplay; but for someone who hasn't read all the details it's VERY easy to mistake what you guys are doing as some sort of Roleplay by just looking at the surface.
  12. Try joining some groups relating to your interests. It's a pretty decent way to get in touch with people with similar interests. Also try to visit locations that match your interests, don't just go where the population is high. Go to clubs with music you like, or sims that resonate with you one way or another. If you're a beach bum, hang out at some tropical locations and you're sure to find other people just like yourself, and this goes for any theme/hobby/sim. Utilize the search engine to find Groups and Sims that interest you! When all else fails, the Destination Guide can also be a decent tool for finding places to chill. The Featured Events and Editors Picks are usually updated pretty consistently, and feature new and interesting sims that tend to attract higher traffic. You can also usually find folks chilling at hubs like Ahern or Barbarossa, even though these are good for a chat, the likelihood of meeting "friends" in these places is not that high tbh....
  13. That's quite a popular one! Especially if you are a frequent clubber and always dancing, the features it has are quite handy ( Unlimited Animations + Notecards, Dance with Friends etc). I could not agree more! Lots of these HUDs and Gadgets for sale are either cashing in on the aesthetic, the bundled animations, or they have somehow streamlined a process or two. You will certainly learn some handy information by taking such a class Great recommendation Bitsy!
  14. It can be a bit of a chore setting up a decent system that will work with you! But don't be discouraged! It took me about a year before I had a solid AO I felt comfortable with, now I just add dances on occasion if I find something I like The most i can say for now (since im stuck at the office lol) is do as much research as you can; Visit the Mainstores and try out all the animations you can. Read marketplace reviews. Test Demos if you can. Anything you can do will help, because unfortunately there are a LOT of solutions out there, you just have to find what works best for you !
  15. *waves hello!* I will shoot you a message when I get inworld tonight, Mora
  16. HmmmMmmMm i see, well you might be able to find something from Akeyo, they have some starter HUDs that are pretty cheap and customizable, for adding your own animations etc. If not them, then something similar At the very least, if you are most concerned with consolidating your HUDs that you use for AO and Dances, there are much cheaper solutions than the N-Phone! It will do exactly what you say you need, but with all the other bells and whistles, you would definitely be paying for more than you'd be using.
  17. My pleasure buddy! You should DEFINITELY look into the Beta Grid/Preview Grid. No one shopping over there, it's just for testing uploads essentially. Here's a page with some details You can use it to upload and test things like Mesh without any cost. There are also some Marketplace test features, but keep in mind you cannot transfer anything from the Beta grid into the Main Grid without paying up lol. And yes you are correct in your assumptions about Homestead Regions; They have both less Prims and a lower Max for people on sim. It's a toss-up, for sure, but getting more than 20 people on a sim at a time isn't always a easy task It's definitely not a good choice for things like Clubs, but for a solo business I could imagine it would be alright for a mainstore...
  18. I think the price tag accounts for a few different things, certainly not just the cost to maintain a sim, unfortunately. A full-sim is a large commitment for most of the SL population, and LL wants to keep it this way. If anyone and everyone could get a sim and throw around whatever they wanted, it would become increasingly difficult to find quality locations and projects. Just like most subscription based services, SL offers different levels of investment depending on what you want, anything between non-premium residents renting 512 lots to Land Barons owning multiple full-sims. With many different tiers in between, it really lets you fine-tune what you are paying for in relation to how much you are creating! But in all seriousness, if you had 2 or 3 trustworthy friends you could all split a Homestead region relatively cheaply. Also, it might not be much, but whatever you are using the sim for should be designed to be profitable one way or another, whether goods or services are being sold or events being held. A full sim is a HELL of a lot of prims anyway, i guess if you are operating a full commercial sim you might be limited to the prims you can personally use, but the tradeoff of having traffic and renters would balance it? Anyways, I understand your struggle, but at the end of the day there are ways we can express our creativity for much cheaper or even free! (Blender, anyone? Beta Grid, anyone?) but the Second Life grid gives us a tangible place to display it for anyone to enjoy, and that in itself warrants a price tag. Whether you think its worth the price tag is up to you entirely
  19. Too True! Both Lumiya and all the extensions (Voice, Chat Logs) are still up on the play store, but it will be interesting to see how long it lasts. At the very least, I doubt they can keep charging 3 bucks for the App now that it is no longer listed on the wiki, so this could spell the end for Lumiya!!
  20. Hey folks I am looking for some micro-parcels to rent for a project I am working on. Locations will only be utilizing 30-50 prims at most. What I need is a series of very small parcels, 4X4 is totally fine or anything around there. I am looking for parcels all over the mainland. Not interested in parcels on the same sim. Any and all suggestions are welcome!
  21. I think in terms of "Replacing" other HUDs, they are simply bragging about the capabilities of their HUD. Sure you can purchase all the apps for everything from Av tracking to Poses, and in a sense that WOULD replace all other HUDs! Just depends on if you like how they do things ;-D Theres a few other HUDs that are similar, each with their own little specialties. Some folks really like TARDIS systems or NOVATECH gadgets, which do feature some neat things. And of course, you could always construct your own with all your favorite things! A bit of a time and possibly money investment, but could be very rewarding if you want to consolidate all your favorite add-ons into one controller....
  22. It looks like there's a good amount of reviews on the full product page, not just the apps pack. Also, they have a 1 L$ Test Demo, so why not give it a shot that way? If all else fails, join the Neurolab Group and ask in chat, you might get some responses from folks who use the product. Neurolab, to me, always makes good quality products. To me the "Smartphones" are a money pit between the HUD and the APPS, but to each their own
