  1. You can delete Second Life viewer from your computer, then visit Secondlife.com and Install the viewer. This will ensure you have the latest version. If you are a premium member, you can contact Linden Labs directly via voice chat. If you have not already, please submit a case https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ as this is the best way for non-premium members to get in touch with LL direct.
  2. Curei - Very happy you have been enjoying yourself and the scenery here in SL! The problem you are having MIGHT be happening if you have not updated your SL viewer. If you are not presented with an option to update you can always re-install direct from the website. I hope other folks will chime-in with suggestions, but I know that Linden just updated the viewer, that is my only clue that this might be the problem! Best of luck Curei :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
  3. Thanks for the recommendation Eclair!!! Looks simply beautiful!
  4. karl ~ I hope someone will add to this because it will be far from complete, not ALL the possibilities, but just wanted to help you get the ball rolling. First, if you were to model it would depend on your client/boss whether you would need to change your appearance beyond your outfit. Most clients you will find want you to have your avatar setup perfectly and would hire you based on your avatare, so appearance change could be unneccessary. However, depending on the scale of the project and what you are modeling for, there is always the possibilitiy you will be asked to tweak or change something... As for ALL the possibilities for jobs inworld thats a tall order! Here are a few common positions you might find inworld, and I will break them down into 2 categories, Trained and Non-Trained TRAINED- DJ - At any given moment there is likely to be a club or venue hiring DJ's to perform on-location. This may be a big step for some residents as it involves broadcasting, musical knowledge and sometimes a small investment, it can be quite lucrative and also rewarding. Landlord - Though requiring a large initial investment, or at the very least a long-term plan or strategy, being a Landlord in SL can be a clever way to make some L$ to cover expenses or generate a bit of income. Dancer - I know most minds may jump to women when it comes to club-dancers, there are plenty of places men can get down and/or make a buck here in SL. You will most likely need a small amount of experience to get hired regarding things like emoting, avatar age and general knowledge. NON-TRAINED- Host - For every successful DJ there is a Host to back them up and pump up the crowd! Being a party host can be fun and profitable at the same time, especially if you are chatty! You get the chance to mingle with the crown but at the same time receive your share of tips from the performance! The very best hosts have a network of friends to attend parties, know how to read a crowd and react, bringing energy and personality to a SL performance letting the DJ concentrate on what they do best, bumping the beats!! Customer Service - Though there may be a small amount of training involved in this position I am listing it as non-trained because the business/client SHOULD teach you everything you need to know. CS-positions could involve being present at a shop or location for x-hours a day, or simply being available to receive messages and provide answers to questions. RolePlay - Not the most popular way to MAKE L$, but you can sometimes find an existing RP location looking to hire someone to jump onboard. This can be just about any type position depending on the community, ranging from medievial merchant to bartender in a cyber cafe. Usually the jobs will entail RolePlaying within the position, working regular hours and sometimes participating in storylines. Well, hope this helps start things off for you karl, you can search any of these things within the forum or even websearch to find more information, or keep looking in the "Inworld Employment" forum for job opportunities like this one. Best of luck and have fun!!
  5. Jack - Try running a search for "Anime Heads" or faces. The [zs] Anime Heads or Utilizator M3 Heads for example is a nice base product that you can then add eyes or whatever else you like to customize it! Also, there are a few Anime themed malls scattered about with really great selections. It might be easier to find something by browsing a few shops at the malls inworld if you are having trouble finding what you need in marketplace!! Best of luck Jack ~*~
  6. Okay, let me try to explain myself I suppose.... "All premium homes have privacy protection and Banlines" should have read as having the OPTION to have banlines. I can skip ahed and say that your assessment of my locations is incorrect as my cottage is in the suburbs north of Bay City, so lets not jump to conclusions and judge me for that type of stuff....... The community my public cottage is located in is a "Suburban Themed" area where they recommend you remove banlines for neighbors to enjoy. This, i believe, is distinctly different than a neighborhood where everyone can put banlines on their own accord. There is nothing wrong with Banlines and having privacy, but the reason I CHOSE to have my Cottage in Shermerville is because of the open community and lack of banlines/private areas.... I have also used SL for several years and I do not believe I have known you the whole time nor have I told you of my history here, so you are drawing concusions off one-sided research. I also have a private home in a community that is not "900m in the air over a somewhat desonate mainland landscape", but its not PUBLIC so I dont go around listing it everywhere. Nowhere did I ever claim that "Resisdents want busy clubs etc. beside their homes creating lag". Where did this come from? I was only trying to stress the point that creative spectrum building is not supported in these regions. Assuming makes an ass of u and me..... like I have mentioned before, the community of Shermerville sims is a great example of recommended infastructure where residents can work together to build the community they want. You are ASKED kindly to not use banlines and to build within suburban guidelines, but nothing is forced. Great place to live if you don't want a club next to you. If you read my post carefully, you could have read this...."All parcels in Linden Home Communities are residential; there is no way to open a shop, a club or even a park." So what part of your explanation proved that someone can OPEN a shop, club or PARK. Its about the option to build creatively, not about what you personally NEED or has been built by LL already. Why would anyone feel the need to open more parks? I don't know, to be creative??? People use SL to build things?? Can someone build a SL restaurant but if real food isnt served, theres no purpose right? That is how I am reading this argument... I know they are called Linden Homes because they are houses.......I am not as stupid as I look, I myself had a linden home for nearly a year and explored the area, found the center hubs, waterwalkways and parkets. But my actual point was NOONE can create these areas themselves on LL home land. That was the issue I was addressing, NOT A LACK OF PARKS. I apologize because I did not mean to insult you about your position in your community, I have simply found it all underwhelming as a premium benifit. I am happy you have found a great community of residents away from flakey landlords and other SL woes. Also apologies for all the bolding and accents in this post, but I feel like some serious conclusions were jumped too on my last post. If LL homes work for you then great, my post was merely pointing out things I thought would be helpful to know for newbies jumping onto the premium boat. The Original Poster started this thread as a critique of the Connectability of Neighbors in LL home communities, perhaps your time could better be spent giving this resident better advice than I did about EXACTLY how they can connect and interact with their neighbors in LL communities, as mine was merely an assessment and alternative suggestion. Thanks.
  7. Ah thank you so much Prokofy! NEW HYPERLOUNGE LINK
  8. DaddyBootz, if you are a premium user you should never hesitate to get intouch with Linden Lab directly via Voice Support. They might be able to help you get to the bottom of who is doing this to you and what you can do to correct the problem/prevent it in the future.
  9. HIGHLY Recommended for those new to SL. A very nice place to visit regarless, clearly a lot of thought was put into this wonderful place <3
  10. ~*~ Don't be shy now people! I would be thrilled to receive more recommendations! ~*~*~ <3
  11. You are quite correct, Veruca, as is Alwin, Linden Homes Communies are the least-common-denominator approach of providing homes to residents in virtual worlds. Without an infastructure or roads to worry about, these sims and communities can be built and maintained quickly and efficiently. There are quite a few things that you miss out on when living in a Linden Home Community, but in most cases they are not things we would not want Linden in charge of anyway ;-D All Premium Homes have privacy protection with banlines, so that instantly makes the fluidity of Linden Home Continents virtually nonexistant. All parcels in Linden Home Communities are residential; there is no way to open a shop, a club or even a park. This kind of creative-suppression does not encourage ANYONE to attempt to "Grow" or encourage community in these places. Lastly, and certainly not the least of anyones worries, would be the prim allowance. Roll all this together and Linden Homes are really only good for practicing interior decoration and a safe place to get dressed. If you are interested in better communities there are plenty on private sims that have wonderful designs, layouts and infastructure, all with way more freedom than you could get from a Linden Home.
  12. There are many ways to meet new people InWorld, your best bet would be to try wandering around and seeing what interests you! Try not to rely on "Chat Hotspots" or "Newbie" areas too much, sometimes it can be tough to meet people even though they claim to be a friendly enviroment. It can be difficult to make friends or start conversations if there isn't a common ground to agree on, this is as true in SL as it is in the real world. You would not just walk into a coffee shop expecting to talk to everyone and make friends, however if you are a Star Wars fan and attend a Star Wars gathering or convention it is much more likely you will connect with the people around you.... As a jumping off point, think about what kind of things you like to do or enjoy, it will be easier to find residents with similar interests to you this way. Some good places to start thinking: Music : The Club and Music scene in SL is always popping off no mater what you are into. Rock and Roll, Electronic, R&B, Country, just about any genre you can think of will have its share of Locations, DJ's and regular events. Often times Hosts will incorporate fun things into events like Costume Contests and Prizes!! Games : Though some folks might consider SL itself a game, there exists MANY games within the SL grid! Some are very complex, with Combat Systems and Damage Meters that might be familiar to people who have played MMO's, as well as very simple "games" like Fishing, Card Games or Hunts! RolePlay : There are many groups and sims ingame that focus on creating a story or "Playing the Role" of another character with your avatar! RP can be a great way to meet people and interact regularly. Themes range anything from Science Fiction and Fantasy to contemporary Suburban Life! I am sure other residents might be able to steer your more directly, or provide some links/landmarks to get you started, but hopefully this gets the ball rolling for you!
  13. Cute open-air place! Two Thumbs Up! :catvery-happy:
  14. Alpha - There should not be a problem using LindeX Exchange to convert your Lindents into USD as long as you have payment information on file. If some information is missing from the page it could be a problem with the browser you are viewing the website with? Is there a way you can possible provide a screencap for more information if your information is missing? The only other thing I can think of is you have reached your trading limit but that does not sound like the case.
  15. Virwox is not able to operate inworld for exchanging currency anymore.
  16. Venus- I would suggest heading to one of the Newcomer Friendly Spots on the destination guide to get your bearings. Places like Caledon's Oxbridge University have a walk-through orinetation course that covers a lot of things like dressing your avatar and dealing with L$. As for how/where to rent, there is an almost unlimited amount of places you can rent in SL. In addition there is a sub-catagory in the forum for people renting parcels you might want to take a look at. The best thing to do would be to wander around and see what there is to offer, use the "search" tool inworld to find apartments, homes or skyboxes and look at the differences between them! Prices, Prims, Privacy and Freedom will fluctuate from property-to-property, but there is something for everyone, it just depends on what you want a home for! (Ask yourself, do you want to decorate a full house, or do you just need a private skybox for getting dressed!) Hope that helps a little bit Venus, enjoy yourself!
  17. elliedonut wrote: I recently just got back into exploring again and two sims I enjoyed were 'It All Starts With A Smile' and 'The Mill'. :matte-motes-grin: Had a chance to visit these sims, Ellie! really beautiful stuff, quite photogenic :-) Thanks again for sharing i will be returning to these places for sure ~*~*~*~
  18. Hello Avon/Peteey! Thank you SO much for your recommendations!! I look forward to checking out this portal you speak of. Might not NEED a tour, but some company while exploring especially from the creator is always welcome :-) Thanks again for the locations
  19. Hello Showtime! I am not sure if you are trying to do this InWorld, but sometimes in my personal experience the profile system can be a bit touchy. The best way in my opinion to adjust your profile including image is to use my.secondlife , your web browser might have a better luck reading the "Choose File" button. Hope that helps, sorry you are experiencing trouble!
  20. Justin - If you do not wish to actually make the clothes yourself, you can find a creator using the "Wanted" section of the forum. Create a post asking for exactly what you need and you may get a response. Some other residents may post some direct-links to people who can assist you, but the forum can be a good jumping off point if you are already posting here! Good luck on your project :matte-motes-big-grin:
  21. Will shoot you a message about this soon, Prokofy, I would love to get involved further...

  23. Kate - Unfortunately there is not a way to turn off individual group chat channels incoming, one thing you can do however is disable group chats from popping up in the first place, so you can pick and choose which group chats to join on your own. Preferences>Chat>Group Chat> change Pop Up The Message to No Action. Hope this helps, welcome back to SL viewer!!
  24. Hi, Why!! 1) Yes, land sold through Lindens Auctions on SL's website are all considered "Mainland Parcels", which is a perk reserved for premium members. 2) Yes and No. When you sign up for Premium, you are gifted 512sm to work with (most new folks will opt for a Linden Home to start), any land you own beyond the gifted 512 will go towards your tier. Until you own past your initial 512 parcel all land will go towards your tier payment. It can get a bit confusing, but if you are ever terribly confused there is a calculation chart on the tier page that will help you sort it all out. I am sure other residents will provide some more info and personal experience, but hopefully this gets you started! Renting from Linden and Residents are both legitimate and effective ways of getting land, so it's always good to know what you're getting yourself into :matte-motes-asleep-2:
