Enlighten me... how would they go about that "simple" process of obtaining ALL the textures from all the other sellers. (hint: it's NOT a simple process to get all the other textures!) You do of course know better than this. You see someon with the same dress model, you have the texture in your cache, and it is yours to steal.
  2. If a prefab is sold with modify permissions, consumers need only to buy one copy of the prefab from one reseller. To have all the variations from all the other resellers, it is then a simple matter of ripping their textures.
  3. Bento is near complete, maybe it is hype for a main viewer release? Also there are some interesting, fairly new Linden test builds on the grid: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/HE%20Build%201/ http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/HE%20QA%201/ I expect the FOREVER CHANGED!!!!! part is going to be overstatement like usual.
  4. The sin tracker gun works the same as most SL weapons: go into mouse look, aim and click. Most weapons rez projectiles, for that to work you need land with rez permission. For this system you also have to wear the beacon.

  6. Those look like the crowds that show up for sploders, which I'm told are totally not camping devices even though they work exactly the same. It's typical for those entirely legitimate contests, that have nothing at all to do with gaming traffic, to run only a few hours a day when fewer real visitors might notice. The sploder iitself is sometimes hidden. The owners of those avatars, who are totally not traffic bots even though they act exactly like them, can find out where to show up from the sploder tracking web sites.
  7. The cloud objects have a major weakness. They don't pursue across region borders, and they don't relay the target to clouds in neighboring regions.
  8. If you CAN teleport to adult locations but CAN'T use adult web search or see adult Marketplace items, it takes a support ticket to fix it.
  9. If a texture is not full permissions, it will not apply to an attachment. If will apply after detach and rez.
  10. Older premium accounts get bigger stipends, even old basic accounts get small ones. The SL history wiki shows what newer accounts missed out on.

Andrew's profile shows a birthdate of 6/2/2002. The public beta did not start until October 2002. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/History_of_Second_Life Andrew was there from the beginning in 1999.
  12. That comes from Norton antivirus packages. Second Life is supposed to use a lot of CPU. The best fix is to replace Norton with a good antivirus package. If you want to keep using Norton, open its interface, go to admin settings - performance monitor - program exclusions - configure and add your viewer to the exceptions.
  13. The height in the shape editor changes when you put on different shoe bases. Does it go back to where you expected if you go barefoot?
  14. Perrie Juran wrote: Is the World Round or Flat? Flat. If you make a round world you have to pick a size first.
  15. Maybe that alt's account is broken like mine was. My birthdate was correct at signup. Inworld access worked fine, even access to adult regions worked once I set it. Still I could not see mature/adult stuff correctly on the marketplace or web search, and could not even receive marketplace gifts rated like that. It took a support ticket and an ID check to get it fixed.
  16. Czari Zenovka wrote: Ok, that's odd. My main account has PIOF (as in a credit card & my RL info), and I have purchased a number of things from the MP, including after LL changed the payment system but when I went to the link provided by LL per this recent announcement I am still showing that I am unable to upload mesh. ETA: Ok, I read your post too quickly. You said it changed the avatar's *payment* info bax to green *on* the mesh upload status page; so I'm assuming it did *not* change the ability to upload mesh. Sorry about the confusion. Doing too many things at one time. :matte-motes-bashful-cute: I took that account through the quiz, logged in, and successfully uploaded duck.dae. I also checked parcel access and legacy profiles again, and those are still treating the account as if there was no payment info. So, mesh upload ability is checked by different flags.
  17. What should we expect when testing out the BUG-4152 fix? I assume Magnum-to-Magnum is supposed to be fixed, but how about other to Magnum, or Magnum to other? I'm guessing that at least one of those two will probably still be open to the problem (along with other to other of course!)?
  18. Amethyst Jetaime wrote: I don't believe that buying something on MP adds payment information to your entire SL account. It only adds it on your MP account which is only used as the default method of payment when you go to check out. Note that the announcement says to check using the dashboard and the Mesh Upload Status Page. Buying on MP does not add payment information here. The payment info on that page of my dashboard shows my paypal information while the checkout page on MP shows the payment method as L's because I've only ever used L's to purchase from MP. If anyone sees on their Mesh Upload Status Page anything other than no PIOF or your approved RL payment information if you have it on file, please post that. I just tried this with an account that had no payment info and (until now) had no MP history under the new payment system, to see if anything has changed. The same bugs are there as from a few months ago. Just a few minutes ago, a marketplace purchase for L$1 changed that avatar's payment info box to green on the mesh upload status page. It also made the web profile say "payment info on file". It did not change the payment info display in legacy (non-web) profiles. That avatar is still not allowed to enter parcels that require payment info.
  19. It's the inbiz outfit that won't let you see contect, ownership or terms unless you sign up.
  20. You need it if you want to see any web or video content at all, not only inworld but the ToS display, web search and profiles, help, etc. If you don't want those features, you can just delete or rename SLPlugin, the viewer will run without it.
  21. Yeah, RPG and combat systems are done in SL. You'll need to find land with build permission to rez things, sandboxes are around for starting out. If you wan to make a full game you will probably need a more permanent building spot and that means renting land, that's when SL starts to get expensive.
  22. Replacement heads, eyes, hands, feet, breasts, butts, where does the madness stop? :smileysurprised:
  23. Yeah, I have a tired old router, and SL loading is much smoother with both TextureFetchConcurrency and MeshMaxConcurrentRequests at 8. Textures and mesh compete for connections so it helps to tweak both.
  24. There is usually a vertical sync setting in video driver control panels. That throttles the fps, you might be looking for that one.
  25. Yes, SL viewers can do this. Enable the Advanced menu, go to Advanced>Debug Settings, and set MaxFPS to the rate you want.
