  1. Legacy search is not affected by the "show my profile info in search result" setting, it's only for the web-search. So you can use method I've described above: put a desired last name into People tab of FS search, click through the pages until you see that last name and count manually.
  2. There was a small outage on AWS yesterday, that probably caused the issue linked above in SL and it did affect a few other services, like PSN, although only partially and not for too long. I suppose someone at LL put on a toggle "somewhere" until it was clear what was going on and just didn't remove it a while later after AWS fixed their issues.
  3. It wouldn't change a thing as far as database is concerned. Currently one last name = one entry in the database, so even if database's entry was changed from (or it already might be like that) the last name's text to ID it would still mean that every custom last name would need its own entry, with a possibility to automatically generate new IDs. For avatars it already works like that, avatar's UUID doesn't change when last name is changed. Ignore the above, it was a long day. But since I had to edit it anyway, I'd also like to add that the whole SL username system is just flawed. It definitely would make a lot more sense to use a separate username (email usually) that is not shown/seen anywhere as a login. Like most games/services do. Naming aside, it's just good for security to not expose username to the public like SL has it. Good password goes a long way, and MFA can make it even more safe, but not revealing half of the combination that the username is would be even better. --- And I would guess it's also a very big amount of work to make such partner's last name thing automated, and manual changes are not very viable. Not to mention it could be (and would be) gamed non stop. No one stops people from asking (or even paying for) a temporary partnership with a desired last name owner. Given LL's stance on not reusing old last names it's probably not what they want.
  4. That's usually the case of stuck/not deleted notification on some (?) viewers. It's been a long while ago when it was a thing, so should be fixed, although if people keep hundreds of those notifications for some reason, then it might glitch anyway. Easy to check, though, if it's that notification glitch or an actual payment through the dashboard. 5k members is when group list stops being visible. But yeah, on top of what you said, there's a basic LSL function to check online state of any avatar. Examples for such scripts can be found on SL wiki, and ready to use solutions are free or nearly free on the MP.
  5. You put in the desired lastname into legacy search (non web one, so official LL viewer won't work as it doesn't have legacy search I believe), and first click through the pages of matching first names until you find the start of said last name, then just count manually. Site you meant is bonniebots.
  6. Sounds more of a viewer, software or connection issue to me, than just high ping. I know a few people from Australia and Asia with 300-350ms ping and they use SL just fine, with some occasional rubberbanding (expected with such ping) when they move. It's far less affected by ping than Rolig says. Even when I had to use mobile connection during a major fiber cut in my city with very high ping and packet loss on top of it, it was slower than normal to rezz/load things, but nothing too bad. I would try other viewer that allows for more than 512mb VRAM, Firestorm or whatever else. Then make sure you have all viewer folders whitelisted in your AV at the very least, hard to say what other software you might have that might get on the way. And if that won't help, and if possible, give a decent VPN service a try (free ones won't do, but there's a number of paid ones that offer a free trial). And if you're using wi-fi connection - try wired for a test as well.
  7. Body itself is not really heavy. And given that feet (and it's the main source of triangles for Legacy for whatever reason, if it was normal it would be between reborn and freya triangles amount) is a separate attachment, then even if go with your crazy theory "it's the body", then no, it would be feet alone that disappear for others. Also good luck to you and anyone else who "crashes" over a Legacy. It's nowhere the worst things you can (and will) encounter. There's clothing around that is 4x as heavy. And most longer pretty alpha hairstyles by most popular designers are pushing legacy triangle numbers. Better either enable permanent friends-only mode through the debug, or just never leave your home. --- To OP. Redelivery as already suggested, then see if it helps. Check that it happens with all your outfits or just one. You can also make an extra account/avatar, then if someone tells you it happened (if redelivery wouldn't help), don't relog or do anything, and log that 2nd test avatar to check yourself from the side. I've never seen or heard of it happening, though. Not counting cases of beta LL viewers a long while ago, which broke far more than just legacy bodies, but nearly all popular mesh heads.
  8. There's no maitreya head, it's a Lelutka head based on the demo sign. But your problem is universal to any head anyway. Right click yoursef>appearance>reset>reset skel&animations. Avatar menu on top, then avatar health>underform avatar also should help with that. Assuming you're using Firestorm, but it should be similar on other viewers. It happens because furry and/or animal avatars/heads use such deformers to achieve their looks. So any time you swap between animal/furry and human avatars you'll have to do it.
  9. I agree. And also the earlier new/returning user learns about how most skin creators do it the better. And most, especially top tier skin creators, do separate their head/body skins. 7DS and Wow skins are pretty bad quality compared to actually good skins, so unless budget is an issue I wouldn't push users towards them. Good skin matters as much as the head itself, and bad skin can (and will) make even the best heads look quite terrible. Now what looks good or bad is subjective, not going to argue about that, we all have our preferences. But low quality skins simply lack details that the good skins have, and look very bland in comparison.
  10. Current complexity formula has been played with for so many years that it has higher chance to show phases of the Moon, than anything relevant for SL's content/performance. You know it really is broken when a couple of basic textured mesh cubes have less "complexity" than 4m (yes, millions) triangles old non-bento heads by Catwa that you can still encounter from time to time. LL was reworking it and the land impact calculation formula along with it, but they've put it on hold a few years ago, and knowing LL it's most likely abandoned at this point.
  11. Which is the worst possible thing as far as SL performance is considered. You are basically wearing 5-6 sizes of same outfit at the same time, the rest are just invisible. Now I don't really care about perfect SL optimization, far from it, but some of her pieces hit well over 1m triangles (more than average dressed avatar in normal outfit, accessories etc together). I pass on her stuff even for weekend sale prices because of that.
  12. Single colors. I wear black at most times, occasionally white, unless it's a rare denim piece, which I prefer in classic blue tones. So the body size pack with all colors means "a single color" for me in most cases, and I'm not buying a single color for 500L$ those body packs usual cost. But it gets even worse, after swapping from Legacy to Reborn, which actually has a few well supported mods, and seeing some creators also separate waifu/juicy/rolls sizes from regular body in such packs... Nope, not buying anything there, unless it's a weekend sale.
  13. Absolutely best privacy in SL are full homesteads/private regions with locked down access lists. Only thing others can see "from the outside" are green dots on the world map, which doesn't say anything really. It's one pricy solution, however. But for the more afforable solution, yeah, a non skybox/skydome, but a full parcel (even if small) on any private island with instant eject security orb will do the trick more or less.
  14. That, and the ability to blacklist stores from showing completely would help a lot to make MP a bit less terrible. Not breaking the search (again) would do it, too. But for the MP as it was for the last few years, and especially when LL "upgraded" elastic search, I can't say I can or want to use it anymore. As of today I have 25 purchases made on MP this year, 15 of which are demos from the stores on my favorite stores list (means I don't have to deal with the garbage search). One would think with 10% cut LL takes from MP purchases it would be in their best interest to make MP more usable, but it's definitely not the case. So shopping events/weekend sales/in-world shopping it is for me.
  15. I believe it was, yes. But over the years I've seen so many of those suggestions. I barely check the mainland forum, because it has never interested me, but almost any time I do... something similar is being suggested there.
  16. I do remember seeing a few of those around. Skybox ban quite a few times actually. I think I do remember the suggestion to limit IMs on the mainland, too. "Because it's not realistic". I suppose that person is not aware about cellphones (and unlimited plans either). And I do remember at least a couple of those public enemies indeed, just one of them is overly active with his "amazing suggestions".
  17. You have to activate 3 voice/talking gestures that should be in your folder where the head is, then it should animate head's mouth when you voice.
  18. I was pretty happy when I've changed mine, too (not on this account, however, it's perms testing/working one, it can live without one). Did it on the very first day they became available, then had to poke LL support and JIRA about a few leftover places where the old name was still shown until they fixed it around a month later, but still totally worth it for me. Like some others said it's vanity, but so is pretty much any other thing in SL.
  19. While it is, there's certainly a few names that didn't appeal to almost anyone. You can use legacy (non web) search to get a rough idea of what's really popular and what is not. There are certain last names (new ones, not the ones before whole resident thing) that have around 15-25 users. Popular ones range from 500 to 1000 and probably some are even above it, can't say I did count them all. Is it worth the place in already small list for months when it's that unpopular? Probably not.
  20. And that's how we got to the times where/when you disagree with something/somebody it's now considered "trolling and attacking". Not just on those forums, of course, but everywhere on the internet and rl, too. The OP is silly, to say the least, and so is this suggestion as it'll only take LL's support time for literally nothing. Time they could use to, you know, actually help people with account/payment/tech/land etc issues. The support's answer will be their standard one either way. And the only correct answer has been given already. Block/derender and that's about it. But because that answer is not to the OP's liking (and some other white knights') I must be a troll, vampire and so on, too. /s
  21. Fees aside it's just something they've decided on. Back into Origins heads days MP fees weren't as big as they are now, and they still never sold their heads there. I'm almost sure even pre-bento heads from even older times also weren't there. They have an extra HUD with each head that is named update.my.*headname*.
  22. Unlikely. I still see some new people (thankfully not too many) start with Catwa heads, probably because it's what they find on the MP given they are sold there, and Lelutka's are not. Most swap to something better (i.e. Lelutka) rather quickly if they stick around for more than a few months. "4k" (which it isn't, of course) or not, but that freebie head is not going to change anything, the older freebie version was exactly the same. A budget option for those who can't really buy anything better or making their 20th alt for no reason, a temporary option until Lelutka has a sale for those who want to save a bit, and so on. If anything the messy HUD, lack of support and (subjectively) quite bad look will push new users to the better options. So far according to the stats list their most popular not free head (Babyface 001) went from negative trend of -300 within last 180 days to -240, and 50 of those were within first two days of an update. And is around 350-ish spot in most seen attachments by bonniebots today/yesterday. So as expected people played with it for a few minutes/hours and put back to the shelf. If they really wanted to/want to make a comeback they need to make a new line from the scratch instead of just a very long overdue facelift for those old ones.
  23. Partially, probably. But there are multiple reasons. From general lack of knowledge about proportions, to using default/provided shapes for their heads/bodies/skins (most of which are kinda bad and too tall from what I saw) and to compensating when they see that "everyone are too tall". But it really got way better over the years, at least around modern parts of SL. When I joined 11 years ago and made my first shape shortly after I set my height to 1.8m* (5.9 feet?) and compared to most female avatars around I was on the short end. These days I'm 1.65m and I'd say I'm average height wise at most places I go to. But every now and then when I manage to wander into some "old school" SL with those 2.2-2.4m tall avatars still around I do look pretty tiny indeed. Newer furniture/animations are also getting there. Back in the day I had to adjust myself on most of them, because they were made with 2m women in mind, and these days most decent animations work/fit me out of the box. *Height is taken via FS/prim, because agent height used by LL viewer (and some others, apparently) is pointless.
  24. And this is exactly why I gave up on gifts many years ago, with very rare exception here and there. Shop and Hop is especially bad on this, because of the layout (it is a bad layout for shopping in general), because of the scale (far too many regions, especially on the last few rounds), but most importantly because it's just unusable stuff in almost every single case. I still occasionally "edit-check" the boxes with gifts of some stores that look interesting enough, but yeah, in 99% cases it's either a choker, earrings, tattoo or something really really old. SL20B round of Shop and Hop was especially fun in that regard. One of the biggest hair stores on the grid? Earrings gift. Just... why? They are not even greedy with FLF/Weekend sales every other month now, and they have plenty of still nice, but a bit older hairstyles to put in there, but no, it's earrings. I don't even need it, because I buy all their hairstyles that suits me on release, but would be nice for others. Big clothing store? Earrings. Despite not having a single accessory release before. Furniture store with some decent creations every now and then? A choker. And so on. Thankfully many stores I like do/did post what they are offering either on their flickr or in the group notices, so checking it was pretty fast, and picking those 3-4 actually nice and quality gifts along with a few credits was even faster.
