  1. A reduction in those inflated prices is welcome but the overall trend doesn't seem encouraging. It might change in a few weeks, as you say, but we have to hope the people who stayed away for summer remember to come back.
  2. Thank you for the exploration, animats. I agree, another continent seems wasteful. Ethan, you could be right.
  3. There's a new group of regions, possibly a new continent, it seems, with regions named SSPn. I only know about this from seeing a Flickr photo by Daniel Voyager. Does anyone know what it's for?
  4. Hello Darren. You might try the forum hangout. If you join the inworld group The Forum Cartel there's a SLURL in the group description. I haven't been there myself yet as I'm too shy but they're nice people ?
  5. I saw an interesting video on the origin of gated reverb and how it made a comeback. As it isn't a music video as such I'll add something that is Now if they'd just bring back harpsichords ....
  6. Beatles-era person, me There were so many bands I listened and danced to then, and you got me playing them all. I miss the optimism of the times, and the feeling that anything could happen. Of course, it all turned to pot eventually *cough*. Anyway, I beg your indulge for two tracks to represent the classic and hippie faces of the decade.
  7. Was the panda one of Wynx Whiplash's range? If so, it's still available from her shop. Yes, we were very happy with dreadful clothes. In some ways there was less pressure to look good then, and it took a while for things like AOs to be considered even useful. I miss seeing all those non-human avies, like cardboard boxes or badly-made robots, or clouds. Of course, some people liked wearing sequins ... here's a pic of me at the Welcome Area listening to Philip Linden expounding on something interesting (in those days there were always Lindens hanging about to chat and keep an eye on things).
  8. From a movie whose ending haunted me for years. The song's good too
  9. My earliest pics are on a badly damaged hard disk but this is the oldest one I could find taken by one of my first neighbours, Dianne Mechanique, in 2005. I was wearing Robin Sojourner's blonde hair and bun together with her black jeans and my own system layer black jumper. You can't see my shoes but it's probably just as well. Then I got into being a cat. Sometimes white, sometimes black.
  10. Sommergewitter has rain plus thunder and lightning. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Cosima/128/128/25
  11. I found a Flickr image of Annaliese, but checking the location it's sadly true that the region has vanished.
  12. I've had Premium membership since my arrival in 2005. I ran through the scary Welcome Area and went immediately to buy First Land (formerly provided special empty mainland 512s for newbies). I've enjoyed the stipend and most other perks ever since. Downgrading is unthinkable.
  13. There's no way to increase prims on the Mainland except by buying more land, so unless a neighbour moves out or sells you some land, you're limited to what you currently have.
  14. I'd point you to the official Linden Lab article on Private Regions* which includes this statement "qualified educators and non-profits are allowed to order a Homestead Region without owning a standard Private Region, unlike regular Residents." I have no idea what checks LL make on people buying a homestead without owning a full region, but it seems risky to try. Your choice. You don't need a premium account to buy land on an Estate, though you must have payment info on file, just on the Mainland. Drawbacks? LL offer a set list of prices for different kinds of Regions, whereas private sales depend very much on the current market, the mood of the seller, and possibly how close they are to their next tier payment. The actual selling/buying process is usually safe as it goes through LL - do not buy outside of their service, such as paying MrShonkyAvatar directly to his account or via Paypal or whatever. The way to do it is to raise a support ticket - the article below tells you exactly how. *
  15. When you get the Select box at the bottom of the window for choosing the duration of a ban enter 0 (zero). This creates a permanent ban.
  16. I haven't got any adult furniture so that doesn't apply. I just am buggered if I'm going to let Tom Dick and Harriet Cadger invade my bought space.
  17. I loved the Montalbano series. This song from one episode is full of raw and genuine emotion.
