  1. You are both awesome (I was foruming from my tablet) , I am glad you found it and it was that simple, so yes probably just misunderstanding of unpacking etc.
  2. I am curious why would this be an abuse report situation ? it was 4L to buy, even if it was just a prim tinted yellow and adding glow, there is nothing abusive about it ? if it said that it was scripted and so on, then flagging the item in the listing sure, but I am not sure why a 4L anything would need an abuse report ? for all we know it could be something sitting in MP since 2006. Even leaving a bad review is questionable, if it is what it said it was going to be, then it is actually exactly as promised so would be a 5 star thing. Again if it lead the customer to believe something it wasn't then buyer beware, but a review should be honest. It was exactly as stated but it was not exactly what was expected etc.
  3. Many SL users, they even gave them a designation, instead of a country you can choose you are from SL. Started using it in 2008, it grew fast, it is very who you follow is what you see though, you can also make your timeline private etc. But point was, so many separate places sharing bits of things, makes sense we miss a lot, which is a shame.
  4. It was meant as a joke, but yes because of the various groups and options a lot is missed by many. A lot of creators, older ones especially use plurk to share info, newer creators use facebook, many use both, but if you don't follow the right people, or their people don't share, or just being in a different timezone can mean missing these things. When I saw it, I made sure to send info to others I knew may need it, and they in turn, I hope added more. People can only spread to whom they know, it is also why we end up with many repetitions of things, same topics, same groups, so they get watered down, dilluted if you will. There were many SL people using Discord last year, for store groups, bloggers, friends, and help. I personally have not used any social media sites since December, but remembered this particular one because of the conversation earlier. If you have tools, advice, things that could help others...I do not personally understand why you would withold because of others in the past being weird, if you wanted to help in the past, keep wanting to, or they win.
  5. I purchased the AvSitter system many years ago, I have found it very useful in not only posing, but also including items, the adjust features are the most useful, as not everyone is the same height, or wants to sit exactly where you decide they should sit. I would suggest looking at what people use in the products you have purchased or see that are similar to what you plan on creating, but avsitter is very good.
  6. @katjavoncranberry I just wanted to follow up on this one, I logged in the alt, and removed rights by just unfriending only. I then without logging off tried to edit and it showed the arrows etc, as though it was allowing me too, but all the messages popped up and then eventually after trying the rescale the arrows vanished entirely, so you are safe Then I quickly re-friended myself again and gave myself back rights and all was good in the world
  7. I do that too I save a lot of things to drafts, it means we can access them from anywhere. What I also do is have a notebook with tabs and I actually take notes as I watch something, as I find that writing stuff down helps you remember it easier, or at the very least it reminds you that you wrote it down, so then you know you can search it out. Tabs can mean you put things in categories, modeling, rendering, texturing etc. I stop and start and make a mess, but I love nothing more than to come across a need and know at some point I wrote that down, find it and put it into practice. Maybe it isn't other peoples notes you need, but your own, just to start sorting through all those places. I also find that the sticky notes system on my computer, lets me add not only notes, but links, which is awesome, because then you can do the same, categorise each note as a topic, and add the links to it, they are more in your face being there in the open. I hope you can work this out, because not being able to recreate your own work must be a horrible thing, and to see others doing it, even worse. There are so many Discord Groups now too, not sure if you have tried any of those, but big groups with lots of designers, that may be a good route to take as well https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGT1zyzVSItvVBOeE7rjHca2y1UsF6rlfuG3PGPZtQMJcY1A/viewform this is the SL Creators Studio, they have separate channels for all the software and a lot of info is in there for the viewing, someone may be able to guide you there. EDIT : not sure if your tutorials are all on youtube, and whether you do this or not, but I also save to lists in their save system that I name as needed, so Blender Tutorials could be more specific to the function that that tutorial does for you, it might be a tutorial on rendering but they may mention something about snapping that you know you will need, so you can put it in a category for that, and you can save to more than one option you create, so you could save to Blender Tutorials, and Modeling Techniques and Short Course or something that makes sense to you
  8. I chose this picture because the Jewellery was by Fiachra that I mentioned in another post was a fantastic prim manipulator, it is all prim, no texture cheats, and the hilarity of the earrings and a matching bracelet you cannot see, is that he did not know about Shift Drag at the time, and created everything up to that point by taking a copy of the piece and rezzing it and moving it into place, over and over again. When I learned of shift drag via the Blog by Luminosity Store owner ( she invented the hair toaster and did some amazing clothing, and would do blog posts and help educate Residents ) it changed his world, it was incredible what he could do, I miss him. Also prim hair from Diversity hair, it used to be fun to be able to edit hair, move strands etc, I miss that about prim hair.
  9. What is taking that long, the conversion from L's to USD ? or the payout to paypal from USD already sold ? if it is the former, what price are you selling at ? are there bazillions of L's ahead of you. Have you tried cancelling and trying to sell again if pending ? I personally have not had any issues.
  10. Not really feeling the 'timezone' reasoning in this post being 16 hours ahead, I have spent many a 3am ready to pounce the second the gates opened - times have changed in the last few years and the availability has shortened they used to be open much later. I have called using skype many times. I have spoken to many Lindens in calls or live chat, and live chat is the best option for most things, again as someone mentioned we have no knowledge of what this ticket was about, and one thing that tickets need to be are very factual and to the point. Live Chat people will often look at your ticket even if they cannot act on it, and tell you if something you did may be causing the delay, or they will try and make sure someone looks at it, if they also agree it is an urgent matter. That list Patch put up is pretty awesome, considering the amount of customers whether premium or not, that participate in Second Life daily, filtering out the tickets and abuse reports that are just not anything to do with the Lab would be hard work. I see/have seen many people told in groups that they can't file an abuse report or report a store to LL because their shoes are the wrong colour, or they did not get the item they purchased etc, even before trying to contact the creator. I cannot even imagine how many tickets get put through a day that are just nothing that LL handles - I would love to know though, because that would be an interesting number. Maybe there needs to be something like that @Patch Linden that just lets people know you are not Center Management that you do not oversee all businesses in Second Life, that personal squabbles are not something you handle.
  11. my understanding is that if you are unfriended then they are removed automatically, the best way to be sure on that would be to test it with an alt, but as far as I know that has always been the case.
  12. I did a random search and found this great venue for live music and this lady singing right now is amazing, it is Serenity Gardens & Music Venue
  13. I am not sure why you are ffs'ing anything to do with what I said, and I was by no means condescending towards you. I would never have assumed you were either. No one is asking or suggesting complicating anything, as I said you are already here, as am I, so we could be coming from it from a different angle. I was trying to make - as were others - the suggestions of what may keep people here longer, what may engage them. We also have no stats on how many people look at the website and just don't even bother, because the avatars look odd (what you see when you look at the pretty splash page is one thing, what you have the option of on registering is another, some may see that as bait and switch, their name they want won't work (because someone else has it and not everyone wants to add numbers to their name) or any other number of reasons. The attitude towards SL is often that sex place and other negative labels. Showing on the start up it can be more than that, and learn along the way is not wrong, it is not your cup of cocoa but there are no reasons to not have more options. I mentioned earlier that people could skip, a resident making a second or third work or personal account, will just want to use the express lane for sure, those that assume they will be fine also, but there would be no such post, or the many others, or the ones by bloggers like NWN about the sky falling ( as they keep telling us for the past ten years ) if there were not some feeling that something is missing. I am truly sorry if I have annoyed you with my opinions on it. I did not mean to do anything but add to if needed, or explain better as you asked me to.
  14. I just want to add that Second Life has added so much to peoples lives, not just in world but out also. When I started, I could turn on the pc and log in. I started blogging using paint, took pic, cut out shape, done....now I use Photoshop, and use it well, not professional well, but enough to do more than average. I can mesh, cubularly ( I can also make up fancy words) I use spreadsheets for events, create forms etc, bits and pieces of other software, create textures using ps and filterforge etc. Then there is most of you (waves arms around) you mesh, texture, create, release, learn, grow, learn more and so on. Very few came into SL with prior knowledge, those that do often don't use it because they do it rl. Those that do use it, still learn, still grow and probably advance more in rl because of sl. So ....pats everyone on the back, you are all amazing, however you get there, and whatever works for you, because whether doing it right or not right 'yet', it takes a hell of a lot more effort to SL, than to wave a sword around and kill a murlock.
  15. I know it is not the same same, but when I did a lynda course, it included cc text, thing was it was copyable, so I saved it to a doc to reread. I haven't looked into others that way, but a bit of ctrl f when stuck on something would work wonders that way.
  16. Omg could 1 be like minesweeper, you could hit a mine and be orbitted ? As each 512 is swept it can reset, so that someone that just swept gets to see someone else find gold, so some will theorise sweeping the same 512 over and over again will help the strike. People will go back to not sleeping for two or three days, people will start selling gold HUDs to the unsuspecting...fashionista/os will create the perfect mining "looks" ... I love this idea, it reminds me of the free 512 plot days and when LL would open new land and people would run to get space, and land barons would buy from new residents for 1k and they would think they hit the big time. We could build saloons, escorting and clubs would go wild west lol so fun Gabriele, make it happen.
  17. Sorry I meant harder once in world, there were many more people, groups available, I mentioned more earlier. Everyone had the same sl default to dress, so you either made yourself shinier looking or you didn't. There were less viewers, mostly same features and so on. Less demands put on you to hit the ground running. The list of in world difference would be huge, but even the website for some reason is not utilised by all residents, many that go with a different viewer, never look at the main site once they movd on. Many don't know there are forums, transaction pages, tickets and jiras. There is a lot you can use for SL but it gets lost along the way. As this is not for you personally, you are already here, I don't think having other options is dead in the water, but as you showed there are options, but I don't think people are lazy for not finding them. Most people will enter something believing it will be all simple once in...once people go past the front door, they usually don't walk back out it to see if something they don't know is hung on a tree branch on the front lawn. Same as when click for this or that is inside the front door but behind you on the entrance wall, people tend to keep going forward, they don't turn around to see if they missed something that may not even be there. As far as SL/LL not being willing...they are already adding changing etc, if they didn't already change things periodically we wouldn't have those things you pointed out, because they are not so old, not entirely new either, but someone did something.
  18. That is awesome, I made my most recent account a year ago, but had not seen that...Gives us all something to show new people if they skip it. I would still like something a bit more animated, fun etc, that is s bit dry, but it is definately something. Thank you for sharing it, I am not sure about the question about being harder to register, that part is easy, it is the once in and working it out that seems to stump many.
  19. That is good then, because my store is on a sim from the library outfits, and we can never work out how new people are choosing to go there...mind you the sim is Genesis, and the store that made the starter avatar is Adam n Eve so that probably makes a good place to start 😁 some people will get it straight away, experience in other places etc, some won't...I still want my driving school screen time learning thingamajig...mind you I have wanted it since 2009ish so maybe it needs an upgrade. I met a two year SL resident the other day, she didn't know there were fashion bloggers. When I joined it took me a few months to look at sl outside of sl too, I was fully immersed inside. Everyone takes their own route.
  20. Its not an in world thing, im saying walking through some basic things to know what to do in world, there are plenty of games that make you do things before you continue a level, not mmo's but like drag this onto this now you are ready things. You are already here, you already know, many don't and language is often a huge issue...a basic this is how you walk, this is how you access inventory, this is where your money is etc is not a bad idea, it can be as basic or detailed as it needs to be, I have seen years old accounts not know where to find transaction history to check if they actually bought something etc say so in groups. The forums, groups and so on are full to overflowing with basic questions and often when asked someone makes a snide remark, laughs at them or they are ignored, there are holes, gigantic ones...and if joining up had a run through even if after rego but before entering , like many games, that would be very cool, not with people but with a program. Back when orientation island was a thing each step along the path, do this wear this edit that, it was good , and funnily enough all those oldies are still here because we were taught at the start, you weren't landing at a store straight off joining. I had a friend who stayed at help island for two weeks so that he really knew what he was doing, adorable but true, and he was able to manipulate prims like I have never seen anyone do. When residents owned hubs, again more people stayed, more help was given. I used to go to help island once a year to try and help, and each time people there were vile, older residents being bullies etc, so it would take a year to forget and try again. The last time a group of three started abusing me for being an alt of someone they knew. I had to defend myself, it was ridiculous. If that had happened to me day one I would have not made day two. Anything engaging, anything that says ok you landed here and its an empty sim, nothing to do, but remember how in registering home page, whatever..,we showed you how to open search and look for groups or destinations...try that. Remember we mentioned sandboxes for unpacking or making stuff, try visiting those. My friend joined sl because she saw linden lifestyle posts via flickr, she knew fashion, shopping, modding and looking fabulous was in Second life, she joined. I joined after seeing a friend share on his cam transylvania sim and him salsa dancing, so i knew dancing, socialising, shopping, building, events etc...i bought my pc with second life specs on a piece of paper and pushed them at salesperson "i need this". The post is about people not staying, mostly everyone that lasts a month in SL stays, how could you not it is fabulous. But we are also from a time of buying gowns to actually wear to places, dressing up to go to an event, when events were not shopping. Fashion shows were huge and fun and social for those not on the runway, sims like the gossipgirl one and the csi one engaged the people in a huge way, parties, competitions, etc. RP sims, clubs, music etc a lot of it is great. Joining SL now is harder, and people on the internet usually expect to be entertained, and not to work so hard to find something to do and people to meet, there are so many things and places yes, but even those that know that find it hard to find them. I still think something on the website as a walk through is a good idea, even paperclip guy was useful back in the day..we could have CUBEY the PRIM. Sorry long
  21. It could be opt in, skip etc, because alts etc would not need it, but many people want to learn and be shown at first what it really is here, torleys old stuff was helpful in that, now the main page usually shows real life person creating in 3d program for SL....that is a huge leap from new user to content creator, without any of the inbetween.
  22. I have never been so glad to say I am a 2006 baby in my life...
  23. You asked a question, people answered to the best of their ability, insight into the why and how etc, including reference to older reasons, older badges/logos provided by groups that were created when mesh was very new to all and so on. But then you laughed at people ? Not sure what you got out of the question and answer, but it was an insightful post.
  24. Wasn't there some studies done on home schooling or online courses if conducted in a 3d environment the students were performing better ? If so I can imagine that to be true, even if everything is on the pc, having an avatar in world sitting in a classroom with the avatars of the other students doing the course could help with focus and not feeling so alone while doing something of that nature.
  25. WOW I feel old now, I just realised that from reading that line, I was all about to say ' Second Life is always going to be 'new' to some people ' then I realised that in OUR time here so far, there are teachers that have not only graduated university to become teachers but have graduated high school as well 😮 so while they may be only a year or two teaching it makes sense that for them this might be innovative as an idea to send their students here....
