  1. yeah that makes sense, I mean google translate works out of world in a pinch, but I was just curious if there was something like the old babel hud etc, thank you for answering Bigmoe
  2. I met a one day old Avatar tonight, she was from Russia, two monitors helped me do the google translate thing. I am out of practice in open chat, and found my very old translator has given up the ghost. I did not know where to send her for one, I found her a group of like minded people, but that is a hard thing to do because what if the group is not active or helpful (fingers crossed). So two things, any suggestions of translators that are not pricey, again new resident, so asking them to spend on something is a bit complicated. Second thing, why is there no translator in the SL Library? never really thought about it before, but I can imagine this would be a wonderful concept for new residents to come in and be able to communicate immediately, and also other speakers would know they can grab from the library to return the favour. I am loathe to replace peoples businesses with free items suggestions, but this kind of seems like it should be an inclusive tool. In my opinion anyway.
  3. I hope it does not continue to happen, but it might be a good idea to find another sandbox.
  4. I agree on the bento possibility, if she is using Singularity I find that a lot of people did not know they updated to include bento and just don't think it works.
  5. I sent you something in world, I hope it works for you how you need
  6. I am wondering if the location you were tpd to could have been something else in the past, same old lm if an accidental Lm grab as suggested, or non setting of home it could have been a completely different thing when you joined SL etc. I accidentally tpd to a store the other day when trying to move a hud on my screen and I hit the favourites bar up top, so not a big deal at all, but it was shocking and now so many huds have LMs included so you could be moving something and away you go. I don't think my example is your case, but I do think the location may have been something else in your past. Would be nice if like RL real estate you could access what land has been, what it sold for, etc etc.
  7. I did a whole post on the Names thing, about making sure you research before picking one for so many reasons. The two character limit is a known thing for Legacy search, but probably not so known now, in either. The problem with this coming off credits, is that I wonder if the two characters are the actual store name or just the abbreviation they have used to name the items, a lot of bloggers use the clipboard function to save time on crediting, which is a horrible thing because it gives no proper information, and I have seen stores not name individual items, just put down the sizes, or colours and sizes, deciding the info in the package and folder was enough. I am glad they credited at all, but crediting to nothing is almost as bad as not crediting, you should not have had to search that much, wrong slurl an out of date link is one thing, two letters and nothing, not so easy.
  8. Chic so true, sorry about that I was generaly speaking based on his needs for skyboxes. I buy a lot of those gachas myself as I just use them as props, not actual decor in a home. So it does not really matter to me about the no copy except for things you need to copy like chairs etc. I usually pay with no intent on the final product, just play a few times to get some pieces just in case. If it was to actually kit out a home, then definitely MOD/Copy all the way
  9. I think I read it all, and just adding my two cents Firstly, newer creators to the grid, are not always so aware of the history of SL and the sky, so builders are building for the ground, as a lot more live on the ground now since homesteads etc. That is one thing, and not such a shocker I am sure. The other thing that I have also noticed and which is why you are finding it hard to find things is that 'Skyboxes" are now being sold as 'Backdrops' or 'Photo booths' or 'props' people are not building them for people to live in, they are building them to sell to the higher user base of photographers, and it has made me chuckle many times at an event to see a fully furnished skybox be sold as a backdrop with absolutely no intent for it to be used in any other way than to shoot lingerie or something. This however opens up so many other possibilities for amazing adaptations to environments, because there are some that are built with full outsides, again for photo oppurtunities. The downside and this is big, and sad and makes me grumpy, is that a lot of the better ones are Gacha, so while you may be lucky enough to get that rare, and I am that lucky often, if I was a reseller I could retire lol, but it means NO MOD NO COPY so as a person looking for options to use for renters that makes that very eek on the no copy part especially. It does also mean you can create little montages yourself with the pieces if you so desire and I am not sure, but some stores may be willing to swap out rares for copy. Long story short, broaden your search terms to photo type keywords.
  10. hi the SL viewer would be a good start. You are very welcome, I hope you can find a solution.
  11. I learn new things everyday, todays new thing is that when you go to read a 7 page forum post check first if there is a lock at the front of the title, so that you don't read all 7 pages because you want to be sure that you are not saying the same thing as one or more people have already said, then get to the end and find out what you have been desperate to type cannot be typed. In summation, Second Life is for learning new things, loving old things, and enjoying all things It is also for finding another thread you can pout in so that what you just did (7 pages) is not something only you know about, others can just laugh at you too.
  12. Do you have access to any other mic's something old and cheap, or is this a built in laptop mic? just wondering if possible to check using something else. Did you also try logging into another viewer and back, or another account, sl is funny like that sometimes.
  13. I only use places, people, groups tabs not the websearch, I find it horrible. As said, bots are supposed to be listed, but it is unusual to see a group like that if bots look so random, they may have just been people sitting afk or in skype chatting etc, I know myself and my besties would stand around on our platform and look to be doing nothing but writing in WP or managing work and voicing to eachother in skype, does not mean we are trying to do anything to do with traffic, we are just in the same space. Also 4 people could not make 21K traffic daily, they would tap in around a few K if that. Those are some huge numbers, and huge stores that have flowing traffic for hours do not reach that level. People are going there for it to be that high, them staying is another story.
  14. Hi, I said 2007 because I knew for sure then, as that was a huge influx of residents, I joined April 2006 so the end of the year I do not doubt at all, thanks for adding to the timeline
  15. Hi, sorry my reply kind of went back and forth and mature is still stuck in my head for some reason, but it was mainly to do with all the chatter prior to mine about whether it would be or could be an actual child, and the rules on REAL children as in those that are 16 not 18 are only allowed on the G rated sims, when they changed the 18 minimum to 16 it was done in a really unclear to many way, there are still reactions of shock that there are 16 year olds here at all, and MODERATE (capping that for my own bake it into my brain reason) is so open to the individual, there should definitely be some kind of Moderate A and Moderate B consideration perhaps. Wanting to be able to let the under 18s be able to shop and visit sims that are moderate because there is nothing adult on them should be possible but isn't, but as I said, having people tp into those same general areas clad in attachments and the like, also gets complicated. If you own land and you want kid avatars not kids to be able to spend time there, then that is a good thing, because the kid avatar is most likely 18+ as someone said kids don't usually play kids, however on the other hand, there are those that play as kids so that no sexual advances happen, and a kid that wants to just enjoy sl without adult anything may do so that way. It is tricky and sorry for my own confusing comment. I did not mean kid avatars should not be able to be on a sim that is Moderate if it is acceptable to the owners of the sim, it was probably why I kept saying Mature, because I was thinking of adult like themes, not necessarily adult rated, because there are still those areas. that was so much typing I need a red bull
  16. This sounds to me like one of those Pageant Miss kind of deals, often the models that run for a specific country need to or possibly just want to, focus/feature a designer from the same country? That is what I imagine to be the only reason for it as timezones are so overlapped that you can organise to meet up at some random time that eventually suits. Often the model is not from the country of representation so maybe the rules state that your gown has to be made by someone that is, for authenticity.
  17. this is just a story I was at an early access to an event once, shopping away, never pay much attention to open chat at all, demoing and moving on buy buy buying and so on. When I shop an event though I tend to put on a demo, buy or move along but stay in the demo, so imagine my surprise when I happened to get past three walls of items, bought up a storm, had many other bloggers and store owners shopping around me and so on, and then I tabbed out because I had to deal with something RL, tabbed back in after I have no clue how long and was standing there naked. Now just for some perspective on that, in the olden days before alphas and so on, if I ever had an issue with clothing not rezzing I would scream and run away, I have even been known to hurl myself into a lake I was near because a swimsuit did not rez. I have learned to deal with the mesh taking a few more moments to rez but am usually alphad out or have underwear on etc, but STARKERS in the middle of an event, I lost my damn mind. I did not even know why I was naked, and then reverse engineered my experience, looked at chat history and saw the little message about a timer demo. So while I am glad that the event was awesome and no one really cared about me standing there naked, that was all in my modest mind, it took some heavy puffing into a brown paper bag to bring me back down off my imaginary ceiling
  18. it could be as easy as parking a bot at various popular locations and just taking the names that appear on radars and putting them into a notecard. It does not have to be anything rezzed, if they don't talk to anyone and most events are silent, it would be so easy to just select all and have at it. The same with the ones that beg for items, many times you will have people convinced that things are happening because they are on a particular sim, complain to the store owner etc, and it may be three locations ago a bot got their name and it took that long to reach them with the spam.
  19. Hobbles in with her walker.... back in myyyyyyy day (snickers) you could not join Second Life at all without payment info, you had to sign up with either a credit card and as someone said they charged you like 37c and then refunded it, and you were given 237L I think it was, which was One US dollar back then, it was woohoo money. The only other option to join SL was a cell phone account, because you had to sign up etc in the US for those back then, was kind of funny as not the case in all countries. They changed it in 2007 so that was when there was a big influx. In regards to the kid avatar on mature sim, realistically and respectfully it should not happen, but that being said, I hardly know what I am wearing even when looking at myself the whole time, and can imagine that someone that may only play at a child avatar on occasion or back and forth, may have just tpd without considering what they looked like at the time, if they were heavily engaged in being there then who knows, they could own the sim for all we know, but if you do swap I can imagine it to be hard to keep track, just as people with overly sexual looking attachments tp to General sims because they are commercial locations etc, have no filter on not really appropriate in the moment. It would be up to the kid avatar to make sure they have only general sims checked for search and tping I guess. (EDIT) I just looked into it, and I knew it was like that but realise now that that is a limitation that SL may consider looking into, the access to drop down stacks, general, general and mature or general mature adult, there is not mature and adult or adult only option, so that is why people that are adult are able to tp to general and not even considering it, but kids do have the choice to choose general only, but there is a lot of commercial still listed Mature that should not be, that general only would not be able to access, so they don't.
  20. it is more common that someone else owns the thing sending, than the bot itself, when you recieve an item local chat should give you an ability to block what actually sent the item, but depending on the people sending they could be using various methods and taking names from visitors to the event rather than subscribers. You may have to contact the owner and ask to be removed.
  21. I agree with this, but in the case of maybe just rating it, I do not think that not being able to star items without words and name is the only way a store should earn a good review. If you purchased it, you should be able to choose which way to review it. I would rate everything if I could just rate things.
  22. They heard you Snickers "Additionally, we’ve started cleaning up some older listings. Only merchants who have not logged in in five years were affected, and only those items which have not sold within two years. If you find that your listings have unlisted, please file a Jira and we’ll look into it presently. " from some more great fixes and features
  23. Nothing is wrong with the wanting, it is just that wishlist is for letting others know what you want from others as gifts, not what you intend to buy in the future yourself, even though it is a good placeholder for both. As it is demos you are referring to, and there is no cost associated, you could send yourself the demo, which you would need to try anyway if there is one, and maybe make yourself a 'maybe one day' folder that you move that item to, then you can look at it again at your leisure and go forward from that. I had a friend in the past who used to do that and refer back to it when she needed items for pictures, then going through with purchases when it was called for. You can also just use favorites on the single item that way it does not go to others. The reason you would most not want to add demos to wish lists is that by doing so you are saying buy this for me, because I am awesome and you like to buy me things, and if you added something random and someone thought they were doing something nice for you, and it ends up something you don't want, don't particularly like, and does not fit because you haven't demod it yet, then it's a bad outcome. You can also star bookmark items you want to refer to later in your bookmarks make a folder of things to look at again etc, but I think grabbing the demo in the moment is a good idea :)
