  1. The body is mod so if theres are deformers you use all the time, you can link them directly to the body and it won't use any additional slots.
  2. Part of the reason I use female avatars (aside from the shopping) is because using a male avatar in SL is basically... crickets. No-one, male or female, ever IMs me when I'm on with my male avatar, unless it's someone I already know - which these days is almost exclusively friernds I made because they were regular guests at Club Noir. I don't IM anyone out of the blue that I don't already know because I know that the recipient will in all probability misinterpret it as a sexual approach. There isn't even any point in reassuring them that it isn't, because even that will often get interpreted as an outright lie. With a female avatar, the experience of SL is totally different. Yes, I still get unsolicited IMs from guys that do the "hi how r u" thing, but also much more ordinary conversation, from both men and women. And I like that. If a woman I don't know cold IMs me when I'm using this avatar... actually I don't think it's happened at all since I closed my club and before that, it was always related to the club in some way. If it happened now I'd probaly assume that she thinks it's still open and is going to ask me when the next event is. I think men don't socialise in SL because they also don't usually do so in RL, except in the context of special-interest groups they belong to - colleagues, the guys down the pub, the guys they play footy with, and the husbands/boyfriends of their relatives. Friendships between men are context-specific and those contexts are much less prevalent in SL. Men in RL don't hang out with each other just for the sake of it, there's always a purpose or activity involved. And purposes/activities in SL are not that easy to find, especially if you're new and not familiar with it.
  3. SL is very buggy with this, and with friends showing online/offline. I have all my alts friended and one of them always showed offline to one of my other alts, even when both were logged in together and having the right permissions. I never did bother filing a support ticket though, and eventually (like, after a year or so) it seemed to fix itself.
  4. I believe it's only bento mesh heads, because only bento heads make use of the various "bones" in the face. In your case, the eyelids. If both the furry head and the human head are bento, and the furry head uses deformers to achieve its shape, then you'll get distortion when switching back to human, because not all the deformations are reset when the deformer is detached. If either the furry head or the human head is not bento (or both of them), there won't be any effect.

  6. It would, yes. But re-setting skeleton avoids the hassle of having to relog. Tammi has similar issues when she switches from wolf to human.
  7. Actually I think I have found the exact eyes in the left hand pic; the October group gift at 7 Deadly Skins So the skin itself might be from the same group gift (you get the skin and eyes together)
  8. The only thing that's definite is that you'll need that particular makeup, and a Lelutka Evo-X head, because that makeup is Evo-X only, it will not work on any other brand of head. That said, there are dozens to choose from and I couldnt even begin to guess which one it is - but it likely wouldn't matter that much. Any pale toned skin will work, provided that it also is made to fit Evo-X. The eyes, particularly the ones on the left, may well be from one of the Linden starter avatars. If they're not exactly the same, they are very similar. Again, there are plenty of horror style and vampire style eyes available. Look for BOM eyes or Lelutka appliers, either will work with the Evo-X head. The ears on the left are definitely an add-on, pretty sure it's these: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Swallow-Gauged-S-for-lel-Evo-X-Ears-f/22919197 I can't see enough of the hair to identify it, which again means that just about any black hair with similar bangs will do. In other words, once you have the makeup and the right head to wear it on, you can make the rest of the avatar with just about anything.
  9. Total secrecy would be a stalker's and griefer's dream. No, I don't want that. Not to mention all the pearl-clutching drama when people discover that their partners and best friends have been going fully private. If you don't want to be seen in SL, don't log in. Or use an alt.
  10. Yes, absolutely. By several orders of magnitude. It's because of Second Life, and in particular, the support from some certain people within it, that gave me the courage to come out in RL as transgender, and begin transition. It is very likely that, left without that support, I may never have been able to do so. Which means that, in all likelihood, I would have been dead by now. So yes, Second Life not only improved my real life, but may have actually saved it altogether.
  11. (This reminds me of Cards Against Humanity...) I spend a lot at the weekend Farmers Market these days. My fridge overflows with artisan organic smoked brie. Patch asked us to send out a _________ because he was concerned about the number of ____________ we're having to deal with.
  12. I think this... ...is what leads to this... In adult clubs, everyone is almost certainly "afk" and already chatting one-on-one with someone else in Discord or another platform, or in a private voice chat. Just about everything in most adult clubs is said privately, one-on-one. I think you'll have better luck getting conversation in non-adult clubs. And not the really big ones like Muddys or Wet Willies; those are often very impersonal and not very active in local chat. Find a smaller one. If local chat isn't active, try starting a conversation there. I find that clubs offering live music are often chattier than ones with a DJ, because people are more likely to be paying attention to SL and less likely to be off in Discord. Look for actual events, rather than just turning up. People tend not to hang around in a club "to just chat" - they go for a specific event. These events are often not advertised in the official listings, but usualy the club will have its own notification group, and there's often a group joiner somewhere in the club. You may even get an auto-invite upon arrival. Join the group and it will tell you when the scheduled events are held. SL is most active between 4pm and 8pm SLT.
  13. About 6 months after I made my first accoumt, I got sucked into World of Warcraft, and I forgot about SL. When a friend persuaded me back in a couple of years later, I couldnt remember my original password, and I couldn't figure out which of my several email addresses I had used, so I just made a new account. In about 2014 I decided to submit a support ticket to try and recover my original account, and was successful and, ironically, it turned out that the associated email address was one I still had so I could have recovered it myself anyway. Even after 7 years, his inventory was still intact (but terrifying). He's now co-landowner with me, I log him in now and again to steal his L$500-a-week stipend. I have made and deleted many accounts in the past, most of which I made purely for a funny name, back when lists of last names were originally still a thing. Rusty Raza and Maybe Ordinary are the only two whose names I still remember, plus Ryder Palfrey, which I still have. Only one person has ever got the joke. No, I don't miss the ones I deleted. But I would miss the ones I've got now.
  14. Excellent! Thank you for confirming. (Happy now).
  15. When a typical fatpack is now priced at around £8-£10 in real British money, and a single item is £1 to £1.20, you can bet I'm waiting for the sales. Those full prices are nonsense prices. My girls rely almost entirely sales items and group gifts, with maybe a L$250-300 purchase once in a while. For myself, I've just stopped buying new clothes altogether because mens sales are so few and far between and mens gifts and freebies are all sucky old t-shirts in standard sizes. And creators wonder why so many guys are switching to female avatars, or just not shopping at all. Hint - it's your prices.
  16. Hmm its starting to look like it's selectively broken then. I wonder if it really is something to do with what country people are in. Can any other UK people confirm or deny?
  17. Some combination - ANY combination - of both male and female physical characteristics together. Or the absence of any gendered physical characteristics at all (but then you're likely to run into accusations of being a child avatar). Non-binaryness has a huge variety of such combinations.
  18. I've just tried using the SL viewer to do it Oliver's way, via the web profile in the viewer, and that is also broken and redirecting to do it via a L$10 upload. I don't know how Oliver managed to do it today. Unless it's broken only for people in certain countries?
  19. But if humans had evolved to be gender-neutral right from the start, those gender categories and the socialisation would never have existed in the first place. You're working on the assumption that we all suddenly become genderless. We couldn't impose it if we didn't know what it was. Instead we'd impose other things. Maybe some sort of caste system, if the other current methods of segregation were not sufficient. I'm sure that in the US it would be religion.
  20. You can see that situation in certain internet forums, such as Reddit, which have minimal or no profile info and no avatar representation. In a situation like that, the only clues you have to a person's gender are the name they choose for themselves (which may or may not be a gendered name) and their words and behaviour in posts and comments. They may choose to disclose things that either hint at or explicitly expose their gender, but many people don't, and forums like that are by their nature, a place where everyone is basically genderless. I am sure that I'm wrong very often when guessing at the gender of other users. On this forum and in-world it's different because everyone has an avatar, the majority of which are gendered, so we have at least something to go on, even if it's not always accurate. But in the scenario proposed by @Istelathis, if everyone had been non-gendered right from the very beginning (with everyone presumably capable of taking either or both roles in reproduction), I don't think we'd have developed a concept of gender at all. There would be no such thing as transgender because there would be no "other" and nothing to transition to. Still, with humans being humans, I'm sure that other features would be used to segregate some portion of the population as inferior to the other. Racism, classism, ageism, ableism, the list is long even when sexism is absent.
  21. No statement from them about the male body. They'd be daft to replace it now, while its just about in the #1 spot. It would be like Maitreya suddenly scrapping Lara and starting again with a new one. They really need to improve that clunky hud though.
  22. That Truth one in my pics is very old. Truth hair is looking kind of dated lately, especially when compared with the quality of Magika and Doux. The one you have there looks older too, I guess the older styles aren;t as good with the LOD as newer ones.
  23. Thanks. It can be a bit of trial and error - those are all womens styles and not all will work. Sometimes they clip too far into the back, or stand out too far in front. That last one in my lineup actualy does clip at the back but its close enought to my neck so it just looks like it's all tucked inside my collar, and I really like how it looks form the front. Biologists and doctors to know what sex is what, in cases where there is ambuguity. Ther may be a chromosome combination that isn't XX or XY, or it may even be that they have an unexpected combination - for example women (who developed as girls since conception) but have XY chromosomes because they have androgen insensitivity - in other words, they're immune to testosterone. They lack a uterus (as do many XX women) but are otherwise biologically entirely female. Chromosomes are not always a good indicator of biological sex, and are totally useless at indicating gender. It takes psychlogists and psychiatrists to know what gender is what. This is what happens when someone says they want to transition - they have to be assesed by a psychiatrist to rule out other conditions such as brain injury or drug abuse as a cause of gender dysphoria. It prevents the situation where people transition un-necessarily and end up regretting it. Gender is likely identifiable via analysis of thought processes in the brain but there's some overlap, and we're not yet at the stage where brain funcion is sufficiently well-understood, so it can't be relied upon yet. So identifying gender right now is 100% about listening to what the person tells us about their own gender identity.
  24. All the above are great suggstions for Maitreya - but for Reborn - I dunno. I haven't found anything like that yet for Indra. When wearing a more modest style of clothing I just switch her back to Freya and go to Hilly Haalan. I'm not sure if there's an actual hoodie there but there is certainly a range of other sweaters that don't show any skin. All the winter stuff is gathered together on the wall directly to the right of the door in the "New Releases" section. I have a feeling that Reborn is going to end up with the same clothing range as Erika and Kupra - nothing but the "skanky" stuff.
