  1. Without even looking I can probably say that your video would be better. OK I did got look. The MAXIMUM for "films" at UWA was four minutes and thirty seconds. Yours happily isn't three hours (yes there actually are those vlogs). BUT after filming then EDIT and make it shorter --- just the best parts. Along the way turn off the interface --- get closer to your avatar -- watch some other vlogs to see what the "great ones" are doing. I don't actually watch vlogs but was very active in machinima for about a decade. Practice helps for sure. Most of all ENJOY THE PROCESS.
  2. Right click on the object in inventory (like yours would be HAT not "pillar"). then choose attach to and the part of your body you want to attach to. I am guesssing "SKULL" would be the one. Adjust your hat so that it fits well then ---- IMPORTANT --- take the hat off and add it again to make sure it is working and that the hat "remembers". You pay for all uploads in SL whether for sale or not.
  3. No sorry. "Legacy" on the left. PBR material (jut ones I got in that free kit) on the right. But I think they are both acceptable :D.
  4. I am moving my store this month (well I paid my rent for a month so I have a month -- bet plans and all that). I am paying particular attention to how things look in FS current and LL current and finding what will work for both (possible for sure but not terribly easy. Meanwhile I made some new post lights and textured them simply with baked textures but nothing very fancy. Then after the diffuse was on there I added some of the metallic textures that were included with the free kit. I have to say that for me the PBR really looks better. In my mind and in part this is because the lamp is METAL and PBR does its best in metal. Anyway here are my side by side lamps photo taken in Linden viewer.
  5. Building walls. Going to see how I feel about PBR walls :D.
  6. I am guessing @Aquila Kytori has a better answer for this. Here are some thoughts. If you use "un-subdivide" rather than collapse I am pretty sure your map will be in better shape. BUT realistically your low poly model should only be seen from far away and so in theory your viewing public would never notice what you are showing in your screenshot. If your model changes shape noticeably and obviously from a fairly close distance then in my mind you need a better LOD model - LOL. I test for LOD 2 (or better these days) and I can't remember ever having this issue. You might ALSO be making your high poly mode TOO "high poly". No one needs a render version of mesh in SL. Just some thoughts. I can't remember seeing this in anyone else's mesh either so I guess I just shop at the right places :D. Good luck!!!!!
  7. Agree that it can't be the pose if the SAME pose works for your friend. Emma beat me to that by a minute LOL. The only thing that I can add is that for me and for always AVsitter 2 didn't play a default pose. When you are setting up the poses or animations the first sitter (0) uses the first pose you added (or the first one in your list which you can edit by hand). The second person sitting used the first pose or animation in THEIR list etc. I have never used or even noticed the hip fix and have never had an issue. The new Firestorm (latest which was supposed to be fixed) is NOT fixed for me. So I would try testing in the Linden viewer if you use FS. There are quite a few issues still showing up for me. Not enough to go back to the previous but the previous DID work better for me :D. Also I found issues with poses and animations with the SENRA avatars (newest) so if you are using one of those that could be the problem.
  8. Sometimes --- and only SOMETIMES -- the item will return the next day. It is a holiday weekend with a lot of folks on vacation (at least this has been the norm in the past, don't know about this year) so there could be a chance your item shows up again. Anyone reading my posts on inventory loss know how often this has happened to me in oh so many ways. This last week I just "touched" some items while building and they poofed into the ether -- not the same thing but still strange. I didn't LOSE anything this time except time. I am not a fan of no copy items but this could have happened with all copy things too AND have the same items completely disappear from inventory. No clue HOW this happens. Asked some RL dev friends that work with databases and they had no clue either. Having lots of other people in the same boat does NOT help, but we do feel your pain. Wish I had some answer but I turned 16 yesterday and this is as much as I know :D. I hope your stuff comes back to you. It COULD end up anywhere, not just your lost and found. As an aside on the inventory bit, the new FS was suppose to "find" some old lost items that weren't really lost but only hidden do to a bug that FS fixed. They were supposed to end up in the Lost and Found. I didn't have anything end up there but I did have at least two things (out of thousands but hey it it two) come back IN the folder that they would have been in (so in this case plants in "plants". One was a no copy sunflower field that had been gone for at least eight years I think and the other was a prim plant I made well over a decade ago (so only nostalgic value there but was fun to see). There MAY be some other things that show up too. Who knows.
  9. Wanted to add to the "sort of" in parentheses. There is plenty of mod items out there that it will NOT work well with. It depends totally on how it was mapped (both "well" and "method". So of course do NOT try and mod a no copy item unless you are willing to lose it :D. My tables of the other day are a good example of when things WOULD work. This table was mapped to take linear textures AND was mapped so that all the texture islands were the same in relation to their pattern repeats per size. There is plenty of mesh out there that does NOT do this. So depending on how the mesh was crafted you can adapt -- or not. :D.
  10. Well YOU guys were certainly verbal while I slept. Wanted to say on page 30 of this thread although I likely said it many pages up that content creators do not HAVE to use PBR textures -- at least in many cases. What they DO need (should - might want to so the keep selling things in the future) is TEST to see how their items look in the PBR engine. ( @Aquila Kytori will smile at that comment I am sure). My stuff (baked textures with usually no normal maps or specular to keep the downloads at a minimum) looks BETTER under PBR. The clothing and hair I wore when testing looked the same or better. This depends on EEPs of course as has been mentioned a lot here. We don't have control here over the EEP settings our customers and visitor use (as we did / do in Sansar) but hopefully they will pick something that works in general. I never used PBR in Sansar. I did add normal maps there as the engine was much stronger at the time. My experiences looked good and I sold plenty of H and G and houses as well as poses and clothing (well it was make it if you wanted it then). On the plus side maybe --- PBR let's folks that don't have 3D skills "make" their own items like we did back in the day when we only had prims. They can buy readymade PBR materials and put them on prims or readymade (mapped to work for legacy textures or PBR as not all are) full perm mesh. So CREATIVELY this is a step forward and gets us closer to our roots of pre mesh days. I have been making new H and G this week and making them in the same manner as always but TESTING in the Linden Viewer to make sure all is well. And yep, they look better (to me anyway). So I doubt I will be changing my methods. It is NOT something most creators will have to do. I will be interested to see how many "update" their products. So far I am not hearing any leaps upon the bandwagon noise from fellow friend creators. And we step lightly into the new year --- let's hope it is a good one. Happy 2024 everyone. Back to work for me.
  11. Soooooo == the newest FS that was supposed to have the AO issues fixed does not -- for ME anyway; I can't walk at all, just do the float along the floor thing. Those of you using the FS PBR alpha viewer -- is the integrated AO working in THAT? And any major issues? Figured that most folks using that viewer would be on THIS thread so posting here. I currently have a non-modified AO connected and that does work, just wondering if the alpha might solve the issue without making others. ALSO I have had a lot of returned items and disappearing items when I just touched an item (mine when building) and only after the "fixed" new FS. Thanks.
  12. Lani got over to the beta grid for the first time in like three and a half years. She was glad to get out and about but this is here five year old avatar. Still works of course. WIP and going OK so far LOL but needs a little refinement still .
  13. So I did a test today thinking as it has been said that using both legacy textures (norm and spec and diffuse) as wall as a material would be MORE texture intensive. And it may be as i don't understand all the tech. BUT my two tables come out with the same Tmem and Vram whether they were PBR with legacy diffuse or just legacy with spec and normal maps. so there WOULD be at least one extra trip to the server? Is that what we are talking about? PBR on right -- legacy (diffuse that came with the purchased material pack along with normal and spec) on right.
  14. Nope. Addressed that with screenshot in my original post. All objects are WELL inside lot lines. Nothing "anchored".
  15. Yes, I saw that and one reason why I updated. Nothing to do with this though. This is rezzed stuff. I will say since you brought it up that while I have had NO ITEMS returned to the Lost and Found, today (I just recently upgraded to the new FS) I found some plants in my inventory from years ago (one well over a decade) that had been "missing" for about that long --- :D. I know they weren't there because I go through plants often (as apposed to old make up say). One was a gacha but I didn't lose it on rezzing it just "disappeared" and the other was a made by me item from like fourteen years ago. Amazingly they were both under PLANTs (how handy). In the past on the rare occasion that thing mysteriously reappeared after being lost they would NOT end up in Lost an Found but not anywhere where they had been either (like jewelry in with hair say - very odd). So happy to get the sunflowers back anyway. I am guessing there are likely other things that have returned as I haven't been looking. Anyone who reads the forums know how VERY MANY things my account has lost so would be nice to see a few of them come back LOL. This new issue doesn't really lose anything it is just a pain to put things back (I can't return to previous position because of a sailing lane of LL). Good for folks to know about that FS post if they hadn't read it though. Thanks.
  16. Pretty much. It is mainland owned by a friend and I just give him half the tier each month. So no "rental box" or anything like that. Just him and LL. PS. I pretty much have owner powers as I can do most everything. I have been there almost two years and this is the first odd thing like this (rezzed items have disappeared and at the same time from my inventory -- that's the most bizarre thing).
  17. Sunday and again today I had items returned to lost and found for no reason. They were way inside my half of the Umber sim. One had been in lace (huge rock walkway) for well over a year. I had NOT moved it. It was far from the boundary lines and the message said that it was returned by the linden waterway (again not even close I checked the lot lines). Today I had a one prim light fixture returned not long after I put it up. THAT one looked like it was having trouble finding the land group so I sort of get that --- but the other not so much. Both were returned to Lost and Found. I have 700 li or so left to use. Really big (much larger than shot shows going up the hill) rock that was returned on left. Buoys on right mark the channel edge. LL waterway to the RIGHT of that. Anyone else having odd issues? Everything is fixed now and I DID get a message so I knew something had gone wrong which was a plus. Hoping it doesn't continue though.
  18. So I spent a lot of the weekend and some of Monday with PBR and the LA House and MY sim. I am liking it better. NOT the making of PBR in particular since there are still those download and lag issues (which may get fixed) BUT how things (can) look with just the regular legacy textures. So the RENDER ENGINE and "I" seem to be making a good friendship. Things looks different and UNDER MY EEP SIM SETTINGS look richer and with more depth. Darker too. I think the important thing for folks to remember (even ones who never plan to use PBR in their products) is that EEP settings makes a huge (HUGE) difference -- even more than when materials came on the scene. So checking your store, event, public sim etc really IS important. That's just MY point of view of course. I warned a few friends and they really couldn't care less LOL. Oh well. But something to remember as the months to by and folks move over to PBR viewers -- and you may not be selling much because what you might see in the old style viewers is not what your customers may be seeing. Happily I can easily live with what the PBR change did to my sim (with no PBR items in there). I need to add some lighting here and there. Indoor cast lighting is one of the things that the new engine does VERY well (for me anyway). So for folks that CARE --- download a PBR viewer even if you don't plan to create in PBR and CHECK YOUR STUFF???? Seems like a really good idea to me.
  19. My best bet would to have a group of good clothing and accessory designers behind the brand -- like partners that got a cut of the overall profits. The biggest deterrents all along have ben things available for that body. Legacy did a good job (not a personal fan for SO MANY reasons) getting creators to sell the body in their stores. Reborn has the monthly REBORN event (after not doing well with the original eBody. I personally don't think we need MORE but I am not the person that needs to have a dozen bodies and heads and clothing and OF COURSE the newest shiny.
  20. So heads up. Charolette's PBR house (and EEP settings) is on weekend sale. I zipped over to see it up close and of course bought it when I saw it was on sale (it was indeed a day of surprises all over). I suggest any interested in PBR pick it up. Not only is it a nicely made and cute little house (with pool etc.), it is perfect for testing and comparing etc. I played with the PBR emergency kit or whatever but wasn't successful except for getting reflections of solid color globes I made (the ones in the kit were plywood for me LOL). One thing that is ABUNDANTELY clear and likely something any creator or anyone with a public venue of any kind should realize is that EEPs can be HUMONGOUSLY different between legacy and pbr. So if you want your customers to see your stuff would be good to check your EEP setting in both viewers. Mine happily are fine but I tested in all sorts of ways when I made the EEP. My place looks like later in the afternoon. The atmosphere is denser and darker and richer. I can live with that. Good luck everyone!!!!
  21. The last Advent box has left for work pad. All is calm and empty :D.
  22. Salt & Pepper's Saturday Advent gift (fee group).
  23. Case in point these are from a decade ago and use the poster method. The windows on this building from 2018 use that method also. Needed because they are so complex.
