  1. I think trying to using an alt(s) to befriend someone who has already indicated they don't want to be friends is unacceptable. It's probably behaviour like that which caused them to rethink their friendship in the first place.
  2. I don't have virtual consumption, it's just a cough I tell you.
  3. I'm not going to disagree about the novelty part of mirrors and I certainly agree that it's not like we need to stare at our avatar's reflections to get dressed or anything. I have enjoyed playing with reflection probes though. That said, I think that as our avatars moves through a scene such as rooms in a house, any actual mesh depictions of mirrors that in RL would normally pick up our partial reflection incidentally as we move past them us would and does greatly enhance the dynamism of SL. The current mesh "mirrors" that people sell are pretty boring with those baked non-reflective surfaces. So I think there is definitely a place for reflections even if not actual planar mirrors.
  4. How interesting, given everyone's responses it seems something like this might have more legs than I supposed even though it was done in jest. I haven't played Linden Realms or Starchild Rally (or even heard of this one) as the only "games" I've ever played in SL were roleplay. From what I gather though this is a fairly common game concept even outside of SL.
  5. Didn't realise they had orbs as well Bragging rights.
  6. Maybe a mindset change is needed. People like to make games out of things, perhaps this too can be gamified: Mission: Dodge as many orbs as possible, the more you dodge and faster your progress, the better your ranking. Evade your way to the furthest reaches of mainland until you win your way to the final destination, the fabled land of Bellisseria where the orbs are weak and you can fly your victory laps until your heart is full of contentment as the highest ranking participant. Are you up to the challenge?
  7. OK fair enough, I didn't realise that it was all set to Full Bright which is really dumb. In that case there isn't any solution I know of except wireframe.
  8. It wasn't obvious to me at all why you wrote it. It wasn't taken personally nor do I take everything personally. My post just set out the facts of the matter, nothing more.
  9. Unless you are making a joke... Nope, I didn't mention you or refer to the posts you've made in any way so I fail to see how I did that.
  10. I can see where this is going and I'm not going to play. You are making it seem far more complicated than it needs to be. If the environment is far too bright for someone's eyes then changing their EEP to something more comfortable is the answer, end of story.
  11. In the OP it was described as "hyper-white" and there were references to a mesh body creator's store whose store fitted that description. I don't know if you've seen that store but I have and it's definitely a white-out.
  12. For me having material assets is a big advantage over what we've had. I have already acquired a large collection of different materials which are all superb. This is one of the things that makes casual texturing under PBR much easier. TBH I haven't been struggling at all (except for FS alpha bugs) with getting to grips with any of it. I'm the kind of person that experiments and isn't afraid to turn things on/off and move sliders to see what effect it has. I soon got a good feel for how things work and discovering the UI "quirks" wasn't difficult. I was prepared for a much steeper learning curve on it's use. Creating new materials from scratch is where the steep curve really is but I'm not sure how much of that most people would need to deal with. A lot of people will be able to get by with just buying assets I expect.
  13. A mixture of B-P and PBR materials and a manual reflection probe. Lighting was the hardest part to get how I wanted it. Also demonstrates how unsuitable for planar mirrors reflection probes are.
  14. The conditions that this topic is taking issue with are not baseline conditions, they an extreme form of white out. So changing EEPs under these circumstances will lose nothing.
  15. The merchandise will look different than it does in the store once you buy it and take it away anyway. I really doubt the merchandise is meant to be viewed "at it's best" under the store conditions described in this topic.
  16. Is there any reason why people who are bothered by this aren't just changing their EEP settings to something they are more comfortable with? It seems to me that there is a very trivial fix but maybe I'm missing something.
  17. Sadly untrue, only some people can do that and/or it depends on who it is aimed against besides I don't want to play that game. I abhor it so why would I want engage in it myself? It isn't the way to a better forum either.
  18. This is why I think it's better the people who will tell you front-on and directly how poorly they think of you and your opinions than the people who do it and try to hide it with a wide range of techniques for plausible deniability. At least you know where you stand with the first group even if it's unwarranted and nasty of them. The second group are spineless and their intentions are dishonest in my book. It's everyone for themselves on this forum though even if it is cackhandedly and heavily moderated. Very few people stick up for each other here generally.
  19. Exactly, and yes, I know. That was the point though. To show with some pretty heavy settings that performance hasn't tanked for all hardware. I think that generally it is poorly understood that there can be so much variation of performance with different hardware and what affects one greatly does not necessarily affect all greatly.
  20. Rowan's not the only one. I'm also getting really good performance with the latest FS alpha as can be seen here (I'm running at 4K resolution as well which isn't apparent from the UI):
  21. BoM cannot do PBR anymore than it can do B-P materials. The mesh bodies/heads they are worn on could be updated to allow PBR but that would be applied to the whole body/head just in the same way B-P materials have been.
  22. No worries, thanks for clearing that up
  23. Great, I did think it would be nuts of they weren't getting that info but it's nice to get that confirmed. Thanks.
